Shoplifting- On February 3, 2022, at 2:58 p.m., Officer Matthew D’Antonio responded to Walmart in reference to an attempted theft. Loss Prevention reported that an adult male attempted to exit the store with items valued at $300 after avoiding the registers. When approached, the suspect dropped the items and ran. Arrest- On Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 2:34 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to Home Depot in reference to a shoplifter who fled in a vehicle. The vehicle was later located on Harzold Street and the driver was placed under arrest. Erin Royer, 38, was charged with Shoplifting and found to have two outstanding warrants issued by the Toms River and Seaside Heights Municipal Courts. Structure Fire- On Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 6:02 a.m., officers were dispatched to a Holly Place residence for an active structure fire. Officers and members of the Forked River Fire Department were able to access the home and locate the sole tenant who is disabled. Fraud- On Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 6:50 p.m., Wawa, 701 Route 9, Lanoka Harbor, reported that counterfeit cash was discovered in their deposits. Management conveyed that two $100 bills were deemed counterfeit as they attempted to deposit them into an electronic safe. Surveillance video captured two suspects using the bills for a transaction.
