Michael C. DiBella
Chief of Police
Chief Michael C. DiBella joined the Lacey Township Police Department in 1994 as a Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer and a Dispatcher. He became a full time police officer in 1998. Chief DiBella was assigned to the Detective Bureau in 2002 where he was awarded for his outstanding contributions in the field of narcotics enforcement by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004 and was instrumental in the development of the department’s school resource officer program. In 2013, Chief DiBella was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, where he served as the Patrol Division and Internal Affairs Coordinator. He was promoted to Chief of Police in July 2016. Chief DiBella attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BAIS). He is actively pursuing the completion of his Master’s Degree. Chief DiBella is a board member for both the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police and the Ocean County Chiefs of Police Association. He is also the Vice President of the Rotary Club of Forked River.
Christopher S. Cornelius
(Support Services Division Commander)
Detective Lieutenant Christopher S. Cornelius joined the Lacey Township Police Department in July of 1998. He was transferred to the Detective Bureau in 2001 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004. In 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and currently serves as the Support Services Commander. Lieutenant Cornelius is a graduate of the DEA Drug Unit Commander’s Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Support Services Division. Lt. Cornelius is responsible for many administrative functions within the police department along with supervising the records bureau, Crossing Guards and Special Officers.
Christopher W. Kenny, Ed.S.
Lieutenant Christopher W. Kenny joined the Lacey Township Police Department in May of 2000. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004, Lieutenant in 2014 and currently serves as a Patrol Lieutenant. Lieutenant Kenny earned a Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from Stockton State College, a Master’s Degree (M.A.) from Seton Hall University, as well as a post-masters Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) from Seton Hall University. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Lieutenant Kenny is one of the department’s Training Coordinators and also serves as the Township’s Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator.
Paul Sullivan, M.A.
Lieutenant Paul Sullivan joined the Lacey Township Police Department in 2001. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2013, and Lieutenant in 2016. He currently serves as a Patrol Lieutenant. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Lieutenant Sullivan is one of the department’s Training Coordinators and also serves as the Township’s 911 Coordinator. Lt. Sullivan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seton Hall University (B.A) and a Masters of Administration Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University (M.A.)
