Theft - Sometime between 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 20/13 and 8:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013, unknown actor(s) removed the battery from a forklift truck owned by a local business while the business was closed. The forklift was parked behind the business in an area that is outside the fenced in portion. The battery is valued at $100.
Telephone Fraud - On Friday, March 15, 2013, a senior resident of Forked River reported receiving a telephone call from (514)583-9931 claiming that the man's grandson had been arrested in Ontario, Canada, and he needed to wire a $975.00 CVS money-gram. Car Burglary & Theft - On Thursday, March 14, 2013, a resident of Kenney Street in the southern Pines section of Forked River reported that his unlocked vehicle was entered sometime between 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 and 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013. A fingerprint lifted at the scene of an April 15, 2011 home burglary on Vaughn Avenue in Forked River was recently matched through AFIS to Lacey Township resident, Dillon Devlin, age 21, of Dearhead Lake Drive. Detectives recently located and arrested Devlin during a traffic stop. Devlin also had an outstanding warrant issued by the Ocean County Superior Court for failing to comply with probation. Theft - At 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, a homeowner on Taylor Lane in Forked RIver reported that unknown subject(s) physically removed gutters and piping from the exterior of the residence. Car Burglaries - Residents have reported that their unlocked cars have been entered and valuables have been stolen during the overnight hours. The theft incidents have occurred in the Upper Pines, including: Lake Barnegat Drive, Tappan Street, Alpine Street, and Williams Avenue in Forked River. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles. Although an adult male was caught in the process of burglarizing a vehicle, arrested, charged, and committed to jail, the incidents continue.
Theft of Prescription Drugs - On Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 10:45 p.m., a resident of Tufts Court in the Oakfield section of Lanoka Harbor reported that sometime within the past three weeks, someone removed a black tote bag from her residence that contained various expired prescription medications, including: Percocet, Vicodin, Provigil, and Morphine. There was no forced entry to the residence during that period and nothing else was reported missing.
Car Burglary - On Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 7:53 p.m., officers responded to Alpine Street in Forked River (Pines Area) with a report of a car burglary in progress.
