Theft and Criminal Mischief – On April 20, 2013, at 2:30 p.m., a representative of Tides End Marina, 146 Marine Plaza, Forked River, reported the theft of a battery from a backhoe tractor that was parked on the property. The backhoe was damaged as well.

Update - On April 3, 2013, Patrol Officer Della Sala received a report of a theft from a pocketbook that occurred at 815 Route 9 N, Lanoka Harbor. The incident involved the theft of a credit card and $25.00 cash. The credit card was used illegally at the Taylor Lane Wawa on two occasions. The suspect attempted to use the card two additional times -- once at the Taylor Lane Wawa and a second at the 7-11 (by the Shell Station). The additional two attempts were unsuccessful. Traffic Delays - Route 9 & Laurel Boulevard, Lanoka Harbor (April 21, 2013) - The restructuring and drainage project on Laurel Blvd from Rt 9 to Basin Road is set to begin. Telephone Fraud - On Saturday, April 20, 2013, a resident of Laurel Blvd., Lanoka Harbor, reported that he was contacted by telephone at approximately 1:00 p.m. from a male subject identifying himself as an employee from Microsoft. The caller's phone number appeared as 315-625-1818. The caller informed the resident that there was a problem with his computer, and he needed to remotely access the resident's computer to make the repair. Arrest for Multiple Thefts - On March 15, 2013, a burglary of a motor vehicle was reported involving the theft of Bose Speakers ($300) along with $75 in cash. The incident occurred during the overnight hours while the vehicle was parked in a fenced area at a Lanoka Harbor business for service. Theft - A resident of Sylvania Place in Forked River reported having a continuing problem with mail being repeatedly stolen from her mailbox over the past few weeks. Some of the thefts include items of value which were mailed to her but never received.
Theft - On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, a resident of Lake Barnegat Drive, Forked River, reported the theft of a 2 ½ ton Goodman Air Conditioning unit from the exterior of the residence. This type of theft has become more common, as the components are commonly sold as scrap material for a small fraction of the cost of the unit. Replacement cost for this unit is in excess of $1,500.
Theft from Vehicle - On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, a business owner reported that tools were stolen from a work truck while it was parked for several days at 811 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor. The complainant reported that approximately $850.00 worth of varied tools were removed from the work vehicle.
Car Burglary - A resident of Wood Avenue in Forked River reported that on Sunday, April 14, 2013, an unknown male entered the her vehicle and stole a handicap placard. A neighbor reported that earlier in the morning, a white male who appeared to be in his late 20's was observed on a bicycle in the driveway looking in the vehicle.
