Illegal Dumping - On Thursday, April 4, 2013, the police department was advised of illegal dumping of debris along the undeveloped portion of the rail trail that runs parallel to Taylor Lane in Forked River. Residents are encouraged to report any vehicles they observe entering dirt roads and wooded areas with visible debris/garbage showing.
Drug Paraphernalia - At 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, a resident contacted the police department after finding three syringes in Huffy Wallis Park. The syringes were confiscated by the police department.
Theft from Home - A resident of Nautilus Boulevard reported that sometime between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, the resident returned home and found that unknown subject(s) stole two jewelry boxes containing jewelry and cash. There was no evidence of forced entry into the home.
Burglary of a Vacant Residence - On Tuesday, April 2, 2013, an owner of a residence on the 700 block of Nautilus Blvd., Forked River, reported finding that the vacant residence had been entered during the prior weeks. The homeowner reported that unknown subject(s) removed several appliances -- including the washer, dryer, and stove with a total value of $1000. Criminal Mischief to Vehicle - A resident of Whitcomb Road, Forked River, reported that his vehicle was damaged sometime during the overnight hours between Saturday, March 30, 2013 and Sunday, March 31, 2013. Attempted Burglary of Vehicle – On Tuesday, March 26, 2013, a resident of Parker Avenue reported an attempted break-in of his vehicle. The resident reported that sometime between Saturday, March 23, 2013 and Tuesday, March 26, 2013, unknown person(s) attempted to break into his vehicle, as he noticed some minor paint damage along the top edge of the driver's side door. Telephone Fraud Attempt - On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. a resident of Forked River reported that she received a phone call from someone identifying himself as an employee from Microsoft and informing her there was a problem with her computer. The supposed “employee” asked her to allow him to remotely access her home computer. The complainant did not feel comfortable giving this supposed “employee” any information and when she told him that, the supposed "employee" hung up the phone. [...]
Fraud - A Forked River resident reported that he wired $8,700.00 to an account in Georgia through what he believed was “Google Wallet” for the purchase of a vehicle. The victim saw the vehicle on Craig’s List and believed he was buying it from a legitimate person (from Nebraska) with whom he exchanged several emails. Criminal Mischief - Damage at Gille Park over the weekend was found Monday, March 18, 2013. Unknown actor(s) pried the lock off the door to the shed near the hockey roller rinks. The incident took place over the weekend between 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013 and 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013, when the damage was noticed.
Attempted Home Burglary - A resident of Forrest Avenue in Lanoka Harbor reported that on Sunday, March 17, 2013, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. unknown actor(s) attempted to gain entry to the residence through the garage door. The actor(s) forced the garage door upward approximately 2 to 3 feet, breaking the internal brackets that hold the door closed and locked.
