      Fire- On Friday, September 27, 2019 at 6:39 a.m., a third party caller contacted our agency to report smoke billowing from the attic of 658 Deerhead Lake Drive, Forked River.  Officers John Simonson and Darrell Nick responded.  The residence was unoccupied at the time and under construction.  The Ocean County Fire Marshal deemed the fire accidental.  The fire was extinguished by the Forked River and Lanoka Harbor Fire Departments.       Shoplifting- On Friday, September 20, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., Officer John McKee responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter.  Investigation there led to the arrest of Brianna Birdsall, 25, of Manahawkin.  Brianna was charged with Shoplifting for attempting to exit the store will merchandise valued at $85.  She was released on her own recognizance pending a Court appearance. On the evening of Thursday, September 12, 2019, Matthew D'Antonio (Left) of Lacey Township was sworn in as Lacey Township Police Department's newest police officer.
