Day 18: Elf Officer Justice continued working on his assignments in preparation for Santa’s arrival.  Tonight, Elf Off. Justice explored Lacey Township’s lights and decorations.  It appears that he is beginning to enjoy his time with the night shift officers.

Day 17: Much like our volunteer fire companies, the job of a Lacey Township Police Officer would be much more difficult without the assistance from Lacey Township and Lanoka Harbor Emergency Medical Services. Day 15: Yesterday, Elf Officer Justice visited the Lanoka Harbor Volunteer Fire Company, Station 61. All of our emergency services, including all three of our local fire departments (Forked River, Lanoka Harbor, and Bamber Lakes) greatly assist our police officers on a number of emergencies. Day 14: There are many tools and pieces of equipment our police officers carry with them throughout their respective shifts. This includes, but is not limited to, first aid and emergency response equipment.  Our Police Officers are required to inspect their equipment at the beginning of their shift, to ensure it is all working properly. Day 13: As we have faced many obstacles this year during the COVID-19 Pandemic, our police officers have had to adapt too many changes in our daily operations.  This especially includes the way incident reports are accepted from the public. Day 12: As we reflect on our department history, we’d like to discuss the origin of our previous Lacey Township Police Department patch.  In the mid 1960’s Lacey Township introduced their township seal, which includes a nuclear atom, a sailboat, and a pheasant.  Lacey Township is historically known as a fishing town on the Barnegat Bay.  It also became home to, at one time, the nation’s oldest operating Nuclear Power Plant: Oyster Creek Generating Station.  [...]

Day 11: Conducting cell checks each morning is an important responsibility of our early morning shift officers.  Temporary holding cells are utilized under special circumstances.  Cell checks are conducted each morning, to ensure that they are readily safe, secure, and available, if needed at a moment’s notice.  Elf Officer Justice assisted the patrol squad in this morning’s daily cell checks.
