Memorial Day Parade - Beginning at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2013, traffic will be blocked on Lacey Road from just west of the Forked River Elementary School to one block west of the Municipal Building. Drug Distribution Arrests - On the evening of Thursday, May 23, 2013, Lacey Township Police Department detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Lacey Road and Newark Avenue as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. A search of the stopped vehicle yielded 260 bags of heroin and led to the arrest of the occupants of the vehicle. Burglary and Theft (Car) - On May 23, 2013, at 12:17 a.m. (just after midnight), an unknown subject entered an unsecured vehicle parked on the side of the 7-11 store on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor. Cash in the amount of $50.00 and sunglasses valued at $130.00 were stolen. Although uniformed patrol officers have made three arrests of young adults for this type of offense within the past week, it is evident others are continuing to enter vehicles to commit thefts. [...]
Burglary & Theft (Car) - On Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at 3 p.m., a resident of Whitcomb Road in Forked River reported that her vehicle was entered and her purse containing her jewelry, wallet, cash, and credit cards was stolen. The theft either occurred on Whitcomb Road during the overnight hours into Tuesday, May 21, 2013 or thereafter during the day within the Mill Pond School parking lot. The total estimated theft is $400.
Residents should be aware that the emergency sirens positioned within a 10 mile radius of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station will be tested at both 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013. These activations are required tests of the system. The sirens will sound for up to three (3) full minutes during the tests. Further testing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29th, 2013, as well. Drug Arrest - On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 15, 2013, Lacey Township Police Department Detectives witnessed a suspicious incident consistent with drug activity.
