  • Death by Auto (Arrest) – On Monday, August 4, 2014, at approximately 11:55 p.m., a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 9 South near Mario’s Pizzeria in Forked River. The investigating officers determined that a 2000, Dodge, Ram, 1500 van driven by 27-year-old Patrick Clayton of Bayville was traveling North on Route 9 when for an unknown reason the vehicle drifted over the center line into the southbound lane and onto the shoulder of the roadway. Marcelo Romano Nolazco, 37, and his friend Jose Sanchez, 38, both of Forked River, were walking north on the southbound shoulder of Route 9 when the Dodge Ram came from behind them and struck Nolazco directly while grazing Mr. Sanchez who was walking with Mr. Nolazco. Mr. Sanchez was uninjured, however, Mr. Nolazco was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:15 a.m.After striking the pedestrians, Patrick Clayton did not stop his vehicle and left the scene. He continued into a nearby Applebee’s restaurant parking lot. Officers, using a description provided by Mr. Sanchez, quickly located Patrick Clayton’s van in the nearby Applebee’s restaurant parking lot. Patrick Clayton was found inside the restaurant and taken into custody. The Dodge Ram van was secured and towed pending a search warrant. While at the scene, an MVC look up revealed that Clayton’s driving privilege was suspended, and he also had three (3) active warrants for his arrest. Clayton was arrested and processed back at police headquarters. A telephonic search warrant for Clayton’s blood was requested by the investigating officers and granted by Judge Hodgson. Patrick Clayton has been charged with second degree Death by Auto and Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Death, and third degree Causing Death to Another While in Violation of 39:3-40 (License Suspension). Bail was set at $200,000 with no ten percent option.

  • Theft – On Monday, August 4, 2014, at 5:52 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to a Maple Road residence in Lanoka Harbor in reference to a theft. The victim reported that he rode his green and black Trek bicycle to his friend’s house on Maple Road and left it unsecured outside the fenced in the front yard of the residence. Upon returning outside approximately 30 minutes later, he discovered that the bicycle had been stolen. The bicycle is valued at $500. A red and silver, Next “Powerx,” 18 speed bicycle was left at the scene. Officer Nick transported the found bicycle to headquarters where it was processed and submitted to the property clerk.

  • DUI (Arrest) -On Sunday, August 03, 2014, 2:38 a.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 near Sunrise Boulevard. The driver, 42-year-old Michael Moore of Forepeak Avenue in Beachwood, was found to have an expired license. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Michael Moore for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Michael Moore was transported to Lacey Police Headquarters where he was processed and issued motor vehicle summonses for DUI, reckless driving, expired drivers license, and failure to maintain lane.

  • Unattended Death – During the overnight hours of Sunday, August 3, 2014, into Monday, August 4, 2014, the Lacey Township Police Department received a third-party call from a resident of the Lacey Inn on Route 9 in Forked River. The caller reported that another individual advised him that a homeless woman was deceased in a tent in a wooded area between the Lacey Inn and the Game Farm property. Officers responded to the area and conducted a search on foot. Officers located 51-year-old Cheri Peterson (formerly of Wells Mills Road in Waretown) deceased within the tent. A medical examiner from the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. Likewise, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) also responded and assisted with the investigation. There were no overt signs present indicating the cause of death. The matter is under investigation and pending a determination by the medical examiner as to the cause of death. Detective Robert Surtees of the Lacey Township Police Department is conducting the investigation.

  • Warrant Arrest – On August 2, 2014, at 6:46 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe and Officer Darrell Nick responded to a Bay Way residence in Lanoka Harbor in reference to a call for medical assistance. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of one of the residents, 34-year-old Shawn Wrazen, on an Ocean County Sheriff’s Department warrant for a violation of probation. Shawn Wrazen was later turned over to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Warrant Team and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, August 1, 2014, at 4:54 p.m., Special Officer Russell Moller was on patrol in the area of Laurel Boulevard when he observed 31-year-old Melanie Bald of Laurel Boulevard. Special Officer Moller was aware that Melanie Bald had outstanding warrants for her arrest. Special Officer Moller placed her under arrest after confirming that she had an active $1,250 Lacey Township Municipal Court Criminal warrant and an active $350 Berkeley Township Municipal Court traffic warrant. Melanie Bald was unable to post bail and was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

  • Receiving of Stolen Property (Arrest) – On Friday, August 01, 2014, at 12:23 a.m., Officer George Resetar was patrolling the area of Dover Road and Good Luck Road in the Bamber Lake section of the township when he observed two suspicious vehicles parked off of the shoulder of the roadway. Upon checking the area, Officer Resetar located three subjects hiding in the woods. Two subjects, 20-year-old John Ryan of Carr Avenue in Keansburg, NJ, and 21-year-old Margarita Roldan of St. John’s Place in Keansburg, NJ, were found with an all-terrain vehicle in their possession. Another subject, 22-year-old Mitchell R. Braikovich of Avenue A in Bayonne, NJ, was found in possession of a dirt bike. A $114 Beachwood Borough Municipal Court contempt warrant was located for Mitchell Braikovich. The dirt bike, a 2007, Honda, CRF 100F, red/white in color, that Mitchell Braikovich had in his possession was found to have been reported stolen out of Manville Township, NJ, on August 19, 2013. Mitchell Braikovich was placed under arrest and transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters. The dirt bike and quad were impounded and the Manville Township Police Department was notified in reference to the stolen dirt bike. John Ryan and Margarita Roldan were both issued complaint summonses for trespassing. John Ryan received motor vehicle summonses for failure to exhibit an ATV registration, failure to exhibit ATV insurance, and operating an ATV without a helmet. Mitchell R. Braikovich was charged on a criminal summons with possession of stolen property. He was also issued a complaint summons for trespassing and received motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, failure to exhibit an ATV registration, failure to exhibit ATV insurance, and operating an ATV without a helmet. Mitchell Braikovich was processed and released after posting bail on the Beachwood Borough warrant. The stolen dirt bike was returned to the owner the next day.

  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Friday, August 01, 2014, Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas was on patrol near the area of Route 9 and Beach Boulevard when he conducted a motor vehicle stop. The registration privileges for the vehicle had been suspended. The registered owner, 31-year-old Michael Polovitch of Betsy Ross Lane in Whiting, NJ, was operating the vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger, 44-year-old Leslie Haines of Engleside Avenue in Beach Haven, NJ, who was found to be in possession of hypodermic syringes with each syringe containing suspected CDS. The vehicle was also occupied by two other passengers who were identified as a 23-year-old subject from Winteringham Village in Toms River, NJ, and a 19-year-old subject from Clifton Place in Jersey City, NJ. The vehicle was impounded due to the suspended registration. Michael Polovitch was issued summonses for possession of CDS in a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended registration. Leslie Haines was transported to Lacey Police Headquarters where she was processed for the criminal charge. Leslie Haines was charged with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and one count of possession of a hypodermic syringe.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 8:37 a.m., Officer John Simonson responded to Atlantic Gravel, located at 2301 Lacey Road, Forked River, in reference to a theft. The site manager reported that tools were stolen from inside an equipment truck that was parked on the property. The theft occurred between Sunday, July 20, 2014 and Sunday, July 31, 2014. The stolen tools included large socket sets, socket wrenches, large crescent wrenches, and channel lock pliers. The value of the stolen tools is estimated at $1,000.

  • Shoplifting – On Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 7:46 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson responded to Walmart in Lanoka Harbor in reference to incidents of shoplifting. The loss prevention employee reported that a female stole two comforters from the store. The female was observed leaving the store at approximately 7:28 a.m. with one of the comforters and then she reentered the store approximately 10 minutes later and stole an additional comforter. The female suspect was seen entering a gray, Chevrolet, Trail Blazer LT. The total value of the stolen comforters is $61.93. The matter is currently under investigation by Officer Anderson.

  • Trespassing (Formal Charge) – On Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 3:54 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to an East Lacey Road residence in reference to a trespassing complaint. The son of the homeowner reported that he believed someone was sleeping in the detached garage on his mother’s property without her permission. Officers located 55-year-old Brett Chambers of Dock Road in West Creek, NJ, sleeping in a makeshift bed in the garage. Brett Chambers was charged with trespassing on a complaint summons.

  • Underage Consumption of Alcohol (Formal Charges) – On Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 12:16 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy was trying to locate a missing 15-year-old, juvenile female. Investigation led officers to an address on Kay Street in Forked River. While speaking with the occupants, Officer Androcy discovered that a 16-year–old female was highly intoxicated and was vomiting. The juvenile was transported to Community Medical Center by Lacey Township EMS. Officer Androcy prepared formal charges for the 16-year-old as well as a 15-year-old female for their underage consumption of alcohol.

  • Possession and Distribution of Heroin (Arrests) – On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 30, 2014, detectives of the Lacey Township Police Department witnessed a suspicious transaction between two adult male pedestrians in the area of Murray Grove Cemetery in Lanoka Harbor. After an exchange between the two subjects and upon further investigation, detectives discovered 55 bags containing Heroin. Kyle Pianetti, 22, of Briar Road in Lanoka Harbor was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin. The second suspect, Jason Drackwicz, 22, of Bayshore Drive in Toms River was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin and Distribution of Heroin.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 10:00 p.m., while officers were investigating a separate incident at the Lacey Branch of the Ocean County Library, the officers heard a motor vehicle crash occur at the intersection of Lacey Road and Route 9. The driver of the vehicle which crashed was observed leaving the scene; however, the vehicle was stopped by Officer George Resetar on Route 9 south of the scene near the intersection of Station Drive. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 38-year-old Wai K. Suen of South River Drive in Forked River, for DUI. Wai K. Suen also had two juvenile children in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Wai K. Suen was transported to police headquarters, processed, and served with motor vehicle summonses for DUI, reckless driving, improper turn, failure to maintain lane, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident. In addition, Wai K. Suen was charged with two separate counts of disorderly persons offence for being DUI with a minor children in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 8:23 p.m., Special Officer Michael Hutman conducted a traffic stop on Beach Boulevard near the intersection of Route 9 South in Forked River. Officer Dimitri Tsarnas responded to assist. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 44-year-old Tara King of Keelson Drive in Waretown, NJ, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, served with summonses for DUI, refusal to submit to breath-testing, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. The vehicle Tara King was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Heroin Possession and Distribution (Arrests) – On Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 10:50 p.m., Patrol Officer George Resetar was assigned to a directed enforcement detail targeting suspected drug activity on Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor. While conducting a surveillance, he observed what appeared to be drug distribution activity from a vehicle in front of 26 Laurel Boulevard. Officer Resetar observed the occupants of a red, 4 door, Volvo sedan engaged in suspicious activity. The vehicle was then observed quickly leaving the area by running the red light at Laurel Boulevard and Route 9. Officer Resetar immediately conducted a motor vehicle stop. Officer Resetar approached the vehicle as the occupants appeared to be attempting to hide contraband. Officer Resetar, assisted by Officer Michael Verwey, observed three bricks (50 bags each) of Heroin in plain view on the passenger side floor of the vehicle. The two male occupants in the vehicle were 26-year-old Justin C Hall (driver) of 411 Manapaqua Avenue, Lakehurst, NJ, and 29-year-old Donald L. Peardon (passenger) of 2401 Carey Lane in Vienna, Virginia. Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. The vehicle was impounded. The officers seized 200 wax folds (4 bricks) of Heroin, a hypodermic syringe, as well as other drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were charged with possession of Heroin, possession of Heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic syringe. Donald Peardon was also found to have three active warrants out of Virginia for his arrest. Donald Peardon was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of $75,000 bail as well as the outstanding Virginia warrants. Justin Hall was also charged with motor vehicle summonses for CDS in a motor vehicle and the red light violation then released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance. The investigation into drug activity on Laurel Boulevard is continuing and further charges are pending the outcome of further investigation.

  • Heroin Possession and Distribution (Arrests) – On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 23, 2014, detectives from the Lacey Township Police Department executed a search warrant at 303 Enterprise Drive in Forked River as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation involving the distribution of heroin from the residence. The search warrant execution at 303 Enterprise Drive was completed simultaneously with a traffic stop on Lacey Road of a vehicle that contained four occupants from the residence. A search of the residence and the vehicle led to the recovery of 156 bags containing heroin, as well as a quantity of Alprazolam, and drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle, 63-year-old Robert Schramm, and the front seat passenger, 50-year old Rosemarie Schramm, of Stillwater Drive in Barnegat were arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin. Their adult daughter, 22-year-old Angelmarie Schramm, of 303 Enterprise Drive in Forked River, was also in the vehicle and was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute. Another rear seat passenger and resident of 303 Enterprise Drive, 27-year-old Karl Endreson, was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. Additionally, Angelmarie Schramm was charged with hindering her own apprehension after she provided detectives with a false name in an attempt to avoid the discovery of an active no-bail arrest warrant issued by the Ocean County Sherriff’s Department for the violation of her participation in Drug Court. Both Angelmarie Schramm and Karl Endreson, Jr. were lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of $75,000 bail. The Lacey Township Detectives were assisted by the Ocean County Sherriff’s Department K-9 unit.

  • Drug Possession and Warrant (Arrests) – On Monday, July 28, 2014, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor for speeding. Officer Sarno identified that the license plates on the vehicle did not match the vehicle that was stopped. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the passenger, identified as 34-year-old Robert S. Lally of Attison Avenue in South Toms River, NJ, had three (3) warrants for his arrest. Warrant number one (1) was issued from the Little Egg Harbor Municipal court in the amount of $350. Warrant number two (2) was issued from the Little Egg Harbor Municipal Court in the amount of $350, and warrant number three (3) was issued from the Seaside Park Municipal Court in the amount of $470. Upon arrest, Robert Lally was found to be in possession of Marijuana. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Edward Hayes of Leeward Avenue in Beachwood, NJ, was also found to be in possession of Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. They were both transported to police headquarters and processed. Robert Lally was charged with Possession of Marijuana. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail on the outstanding arrest warrants. Edward Hayes was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, Edward Hayes received traffic summonses for speeding, fictitious license plates, unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, and CDS in a motor vehicle.

  • Heroin and Steroid Possession (Arrest) – On Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 10:02 p.m., Officers Andrew Slota and Dimitri Tsarnas responded to the Oyster Creek Nuclear Power Plant security checkpoint, located at 800 Route 9 South in Forked River, at the request of plant security, which had a suspicious vehicle stopped at the main entrance. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers were advised by OCNGS security that they had performed a security search of the vehicle. The passenger in the vehicle, identified as 45-year-old Jonathan S. Lloyd of Chapel Street in Waretown, NJ was found by security personnel to be in possession of 13 wax folds of heroin, a hypodermic syringe, marijuana, a glass smoking device, and a vial of anabolic steroids. Jonathan Lloyd was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Jonathan charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Anabolic Steroids, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. The driver of the vehicle, Jacob Moore, 3rd, of Villas, New Jersey, was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving with a suspended license and CDS in a motor vehicle.

  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Friday, July 25, 2014, at 8:05 p.m. Officer John McKee responded to the WAWA located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River for a report of two suspicious individuals possibly engaged in drug activity sitting behind the rear of the store. During the investigation at the scene, 44-year-old Leonard Brown of Taylor Lane in Forked River was found to possess marijuana and a silver smoking pipe. Leonard Brown was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Leonard Brown was processed and released after receiving a criminal summons charging him with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

  • Warrants and Possession of Hypodermic Syringe (Arrest) – On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 10:48 a.m., Officer John D. Simonson responded to the area of Birch Road and Hemlock Lane (Laurel Boulevard area) in Lanoka Harbor in reference to a report of a suspicious male subject walking in the area. Officer Simonson located the male subject, identified as 38-year-old Charles Howard of Sweetwood Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to Charles Howard’s arrest on two outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was a no bail warrant issued from the Ocean County Sherriff’s Department and warrant number two (2) was issued from the Lacey Township Municipal Court in the amount of $250. Upon arrest, Charles Howard was found to be in possession of a hypodermic syringe. Charles Howard was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was charged with Possession of Hypodermic Needle and subsequently lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility on the outstanding arrest warrants.

  • Drug Possession and Warrant (Arrest) – On Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 4:32 p.m., Officer Michael Hein conducted a traffic stop on Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 22-year-old Richard Colletta of Westwood Drive in Forked River on a Tinton Falls Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $360. Upon arrest, Richard Colletta was found to be in possession of Marijuana. Richard Colletta was transported to police headquarters, processed, and served with a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana as well as Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Richard Colletta also received traffic summonses for speeding and for driving with a suspended license. Richard Colletta posted the bail related to the arrest warrants.

  • Hindering Apprehension and Warrant (Arrest) – On Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 12:59 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the area of Station Drive and Railroad Avenue in Forked River for a report from a concerned citizen of several people in the area acting suspiciously. During the course of the investigation, Officer Nick spoke with 21-year-old Amanda Naia of Tampa Road in Forked River who initially provided him with a false name in an attempt to hide the fact that she had two (2) warrants for her arrest. It was later determined that Amanda Naia had two active warrants for her arrest out of the Lacey Township Municipal Court – each in the amount of $250. Amanda Naia was arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after posting bail. Amanda Naia was also charged on a criminal summons with hindering her own apprehension by providing a false name to police officers.

  • Warrant Arrest -On Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 11:04 a.m., Officers Daniel Ricciardella and Anthony Sarno responded to the 900 block of Sinclair Avenue in Lanoka Harbor to serve an arrest warrant. Upon their arrival the officers arrested 52-year-old Timothy Ruhnke of Sinclair Avenue in Lanoka Harbor on an Ocean County Sherriff’s Department warrant in the amount of $7,500. Timothy Ruhnke was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after posting 10% bail.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, July 25, 2014 at 6:53 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe was investigating an animal complaint at 414 Route 9 South in Forked River. While investigating the incident and speaking with 19-year-old Hector Ceballos of Hollywood Drive in Forked River, an active warrant was discovered for his arrest. The warrant was issued by the Berkeley Township Municipal Court in the amount of $350. Hector Ceballos was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was processed and released after posting bail.

  • Theft from a Motor Vehicle – On Friday, July 25, 2014, at 2:37 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the 900 block of Mallard Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a theft from a vehicle. The victim reported that between 8:30 p.m. on July 23, 2014, and 7:00 a.m. on July 24, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway and stole his wallet containing two credit cards and approximately $1,300 in cash. The investigation is continuing.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 11:32 a.m., Special Officer Travis Horton conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Wawa, located at 701 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 31-year-old Marcus Lowe of Hemlock Drive in Lanoka Harbor, on two outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued from the Sea Isle City Municipal Court in the amount of $81, and warrant number two (2) was issued from the New Gretna Municipal Court in the amount of $254. Marcus Lowe was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was issued a traffic summons for failure to inspect and was released after posting bail on the outstanding arrest warrants.

  • Theft from a Motor Vehicle – On Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 9:04 a.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the 900 block of Seagull Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that between 6:00 p.m. on July 23, 2014, and 8:00 a.m. on July 24, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle while parked in the driveway of his residence and stole approximately $30 worth of change and a small black pen flashlight valued at $10. The total theft was valued $40.

  • Theft from a Motor Vehicle – On Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 4:30 a.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to the 800 block of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that during the overnight hours of July 23, 2014 into July 24, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle while parked in the driveway of his residence and stole his wallet valued at $25. The wallet contained $200 in cash. In addition, $50 in loose change was also stolen from the vehicle. The combined estimated value of the items stolen is $275.

  • Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 5:23 p.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas responded to the 700 block of Fairview Lane in Forked River for a criminal mischief report. The victim reported that within the past year, an unknown person or persons cut the wire to her pool heater. Damage is estimated at $100.

  • Theft – On Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 8:47 a.m., Officer John D. Simonson responded to the 800 block of Bowline Drive in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported that between the overnight hours of July 21, 2014, into July 22, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole seven (7) six foot siding jack extensions, (2) twelve foot siding jack extensions, and a six-foot step ladder, with a total value of $1,100.

  • Theft & Forgery (Arrest) – On Tuesday, July 15, 2014, Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas met with a resident who reported that she was the victim of a theft of checks from her residence. The checks were later cashed at her bank without her authorization. The victim stated she had hired 22-year-old Christopher Boardingham of N Lakeside Drive in Forked River to perform odd jobs around her house. She indicated that she suspected that he stole the checks and then made the checks out to himself by forging her name on the checks before cashing them. Officer Dimitri Tsarnas investigated the matter and signed criminal complaints against Christopher Boardingham for theft by deception and forgery. Boardingham was subsequently arrested, processed, and released on the criminal summonses pending a court date.

  • Burglary & Theft (Arrest) – On Tuesday, July 15, 2014 Officer Evan Androcy responded to the 400 block of Lake Barnegat Drive South in reference to a report of a burglary and theft. The victim reported that 20-year-old Erik Moore of 417 Lake Barnegat Drive South entered his house and stole electronic equipment valued at $620. Officer Androcy with the assistance of Officer John Simonson conducted an investigation and subsequently arrested Erik Moore and charged him with burglary and theft.  Erik Moore was processed at police headquarters and released on summons pending a court date.

  • Underage Consumption of Alcohol/ Consumption of Alcohol in a Township Park – On Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at 6:30 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy and Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas responded to Gille Park, 56 Manchester Avenue, in reference to a report of the consumption of alcoholic beverages underage in the park. Officers located a group of people in the park consuming alcoholic beverages. The following action was taken by the responding officers: 22-year-old Shawn Kaliske of Hasting Road in Forked River and 22-year-old Chelsea Littleford of Chestnut Street in Forked River were issued township ordinance violations for the consumption of alcoholic beverages in a township Park. Three underage subjects, 19-year-old Michael Micallef of Froghollow Road in Forked River; 20-year-old Anthony Baisi of Ewart Road in Forked River; and 20-year-old Amber Cox of Bullard Avenue in Forked River were each issued a summons for the underage consumption of alcoholic beverages. Shawn Kaliske was issued an additional summons for providing alcoholic beverages to minors.

  • Theft from a Vehicle – On Tuesday, July 15, 2014, Officer Scott Anderson handled a report of items stolen from a vehicle that was located on the 400 block of Barramore Ave in Lanoka Harbor. The incident reportedly occurred between the hours of midnight and 8:00 a.m. on July 15, 2014, when an unknown actor or actors entered the unsecured vehicle and stole the vehicle registration and insurance card, $65 in cash, as well as other miscellaneous items. The total value of the stolen property was reported as $530. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the theft.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, Special Officer Travis Horton arrested 21-year-old Joseph P. Sinopoli of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor in the vicinity of Taylor Lane and Route 9 on two outstanding arrest warrants issued by the Lacey Township Municipal Court totaling $750. Joseph Sinopoli was released after posting the required bail.

  • Burglary of a Residence – On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, Officer Michael Hein handled a report of a residential burglary on the 700 block of Maple Road in Lanoka Harbor. The resident reported that between Friday, July 11, 2014 and Tuesday, July 15, 2014, an unknown actor or actors stole jewelry valued at approximately $1,100 from the home. There were no signs of forced entry to the residence. Detective Brian Flynn is currently investigating the incident.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, Officer Evan Androcy responded to the Wal-Mart store in Lanoka Harbor in reference to a shoplifter in custody. Loss prevention staff reported that 35-year-old Christopher Cieslik of Spar Court in Barnegat placed four articles of men’s clothing in a bag and attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. C. Cieslik was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters, processed, charged with shoplifting, and released from custody pending a court date.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, Special Officer Travis Horton arrested 28-year-old John Sabie of Birch Road in Lanoka Harbor in the vicinity of the Wal-Mart parking lot on an outstanding warrant out of the Newark Municipal Court in the amount of $350. John Sabie was transported to police headquarters where he was subsequently released after the Newark Municipal Court assigned a new court date.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, July 18, 2014, Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the parking lot of 800 Lacey Road in reference to a report of an impaired driver. Officer Sarno made contact with the operator of the vehicle, 40-year-old Dayna Rod of Edgewood Drive in Toms River. Signs of impairment were evident and field sobriety tests were administered. Dayna Rod was subsequently arrested for DUI. Dayna Rod was transported to police headquarters and processed. Dayna Rod was charged with DUI and reckless driving. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Theft (Arrest) – On Friday, July 18, 2014, Officer Anthony Sarno arrested 29-year-old Timothy O’Brien of Buena Vista Road in Forked River for the theft of township property. The arrest came after an investigation into the theft of 25 used car batteries stolen from the Lacey Township Recycling Center. The batteries were valued at $250. Timothy O’Brien was processed and released on a summons.

  • Theft – On Friday, July 18, 2014, Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the 1500 block of Beverly Road in Forked River in reference to a theft of a John Deer Dump Cart that was located on the side of the residence. The theft occurred between Wednesday, July 16, 2014 and Friday, July 18, 20014. The cart is valued at $200.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 11:37 p.m., Officer Anderson observed a vehicle stop in the middle of the roadway confusing other vehicles that had to travel around it. Officer Anderson initiated a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as 58-year-old Leopoldo Tocao of Sunflower Lane in Toms River. Leopoldo Tacao was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, careless driving, and the disorderly persons offense of DUI with a minor as a passenger in the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, July 18, 2014, Special Officer Travis Horton arrested 48-year-old Jeannett Maxson of Main Street in Bayville as a result of a motor vehicle stop. J. Maxson had an outstanding warrant out of Wall Township in the amount of $104.  J. Maxson posted bail and was released without incident.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, July 19, 2014, Officer George Resetar arrested 59-year-old Guy Sbar of Hospital Drive in Toms River as a result of a motor vehicle stop. Guy Sbar was found to have several outstanding warrants. The warrants were issued from Lacey Township, Toms River Township, and Bordentown Township. The total default in bail was $1,395. Guy Sbar was released after posting the required bail and being served a summons for driving with a suspended license.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, July 20, 2014, at 1:00 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas and Officer George Resetar stopped a motor vehicle on Route 9 near Game Farm Road in Forked River for failing to maintain a lane. The driver, 53-year-old Lance James of 1122 Capstan Drive in Forked River was arrested for DUI. Lance James was charged with DUI, reckless driving, and failure to maintain a lane. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, July 20, 2014, Officer George Resetar responded to the 700 block of Cambridge Road in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief to a vehicle. The victim reported that during the daytime hours on Saturday, July 19, 2014, an unknown person or persons damaged the passenger side of her vehicle. The damage consisted of three dents made with an unknown object. The damage is estimated at $750.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On July 20, 2014, Officer Julie Barcalow responded to the parking lot of the Spirits Liquors in reference to an adult male passed out behind the steering wheel of his running vehicle. The driver, 54-year-old James Jorgensen of Fairview Lane in Forked River was arrested for DUI. James Jorgensen was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged with DUI, reckless driving, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, and open container in a motor vehicle. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Monday, July 21, 2014, Officer George Resetar and Officer Andrew Slota responded to a call for assistance on the 300 block of Predmore Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers were directed to a person walking down Birch Road. Officers met with 21-year-old Brittany Gartner of Predmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor to check her well-being. Investigation by Officer George Resetar revealed that Brittany Gartner was in possession of six wax folds containing Heroin and syringes.  Gartner was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged with possession of Heroin, possession of hypodermic syringes, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Resisting Arrest and Criminal Mischief (Arrest) – On Monday, July 14, 2014, at 8:49 p.m., Officers Tsarnas and Resetar responded to Ocean Fields Residential, 1 Game Farm Road in Forked River, for a 17-year-old male juvenile inmate. The Ocean Fields staff provided a description of the juvenile and reported that he was last seen heading north toward Shop Rite. A few minutes later, Officer Resetar observed a juvenile male fitting the description walking in the parking lot of Kohl’s located at 304 Route 9, in Forked River. Upon making contact with the 17-year-old juvenile, the male provided a false name and then ran from the officer. Officer Resetar ordered him to stop, however, the male continued to run north in the parking lot. Officer Resetar pursued and apprehended him the male who then physically resisted arrest. During the incident, the male purposely caused damage to the police vehicle. The male was restrained and positively identified as the subject who fled from the detention facility. He was transported to police headquarters and charged with juvenile delinquency for resisting arrest, obstructing the administration of law, criminal mischief, and hindering apprehension by providing false information to a law enforcement officer. The juvenile was processed and turned over to the custody of the New Jersey Human Services Police to be lodged in the Jamesburg Juvenile Correctional Institution. Human Services Police advised they would be charging the juvenile with escape as well.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, July 13, 2014, at 10:10 p.m., Officers Andrew Slota and Dimitri Tsarnas responded to the 1200 block of Leguene Avenue in Forked River on an unrelated investigation. While arriving at the scene, 42-year-old Stacy Zayas backed out of the driveway and into a patrol vehicle two times. Investigation at the scene led to Stacy Zayas’s arrest for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was served with traffic summonses including DUI and Reckless Driving. The vehicle Stacy Zayas was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Drug Possession – On Sunday, July 13, 2014, at 3:13 a.m., Officers Ewart and Barcalow responded to the 400 block of Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor with a request to check the well-being of the caller’s son, identified as 25-year-old Sean Gavin of Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to Sean Gavin’s arrest for Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Sean Gavin was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, July 13, 2014, at 12:46 a.m., Special Officer Travis Horton conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 near First Street in Forked River. Officer Julie Barcalow responded to assist. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 47-year-old Simone Lepore of Watersedge Drive in Toms River, NJ, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Simone Lepore was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Speeding. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 5:18 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the 100 block of Clearwater Drive in Forked River for a burglary. The victim reported that between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on July 12, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered the residence and stole approximately $600 in cash. There were no signs of forced entry to the residence. Lacey Detective Sam Della Sala, along with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crimininalistics Investigation Unit (CIU), responded to the scene. The incident is currently under investigation.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 3:24 p.m., Officer Ewart responded to the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old Christopher Pleis of Southwind Drive in Waretown, NJ, on several outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued from the Seaside Park Municipal Court in the amount of $500, warrant number two (2) was issued from the Tinton Falls Municipal Court in the amount of $500, and warrant number three (3) was issued from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in the amount of $25,000. Christopher Pleis was transported to police headquarters and later turned over to the custody of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office.

  • Fireworks (Formal Charge) – On Friday, July 11, 2014, at 9:31 p.m., Officers Charles May and Julie Barcalow responded to the parking lot of Deerhead Lake located at 5000 Lakeside Drive South for a report of fireworks. Investigation at the scene determined that 28-year-old James R. Kiernan of Vaughn Avenue in Forked River was responsible for discharging the fireworks. James Kiernan was issued a complaint-summons for the state law prohibiting fireworks.

  • Theft – On Friday, July 11, 2014, at 2:22 p.m., Officer John Cernek responded to the 1300 block of Leguene Avenue in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported that between July 10, 2014, and July 11, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole his green Craftsman ride-on lawnmower from the front yard of the residence. The value is estimated at $650.

  • Theft – On Friday, July 11, 2014, at 11:20 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the 1700 block of Hillwood Road in Forked River for a theft. The victim reported that just prior to contacting this agency, she was having a garage sale at her residence. During the garage sale, a male subject, described as a white male in his late 20’s, approximately 6 foot tall, wearing a white shirt stopped at her residence and looked around. The victim stated that the suspect did not purchase anything and left. As soon as he left, the victim observed approximately $100 in Wii video games missing.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 8:06 p.m., Officer John McKee conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 33-year-old Devon A. Crane of Fernwood Way in Whiting, NJ, on an outstanding Manchester Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $1,072. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Devon Crane was released after posting bail. She received a traffic summons for driving with a suspended driver’s license.

  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 4:38 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to Maxim Drive in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that between 11:00 p.m. on July 9, 2014, and 3:00 p.m. on July 10, 2014, an unknown person or persons keyed letters into her vehicle causing approximately $700 in damage. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence at the time of the incident.

  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 11:34 p.m., Officers John McKee and Julie Barcalow responded to the Business Park located on Old Shore Road in Forked River for a burglar alarm. While checking the area, a male subject, identified as 23-year-old Sean M. Scalise of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River, was arrested for smoking and possessing Marijuana while in a parked vehicle. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana.

  • DUI Arrest with an Accident – On Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 3:24 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the intersection of Route 9 and Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River for a five car motor vehicle crash. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 53-year-old Jacquelin Maclachlan of Llewellyn Parkway in Forked River for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Jacquelin Maclachlan was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The investigation revealed that Jacqeulin Maclachlan caused the crash which resulted in several injuries. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.

  • Theft from a Vehicle – On Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 2:18 p.m., a resident of the 1200 block of Capstan Drive in Forked River reported that between 12:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on July 9, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered her unlocked vehicle while it was parked on the roadway and stole her purse. The purse contained various credit cards and $200 in cash.

  • Burglary and Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 10:57 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 400 Block of Penn Avenue in Forked River for a report of a possible burglary. The victim reported that on July 9th, 2014, he found damage to a basement window consisting of pry marks. Indication were that an unknown person or persons entered the basement and sorted through property in the basement, however, the victim was not sure if anything was missing. The door from the basement into the residence was secured and it did not appear the person or persons were able to gain entry. The damage to the window is estimated at $100. Detectives Brian Flynn and Alan Abrecht arrived on scene to conduct a follow-up investigation.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday afternoon, July 9, 2014, Officer Daniel Ricciardella and Special Officer Travis Horton responded to Windjammer Court in Forked River in reference to an ongoing investigation. While at the residence, officers arrested 39-year-old Thomas W. Fuller of Windjammer Court on an outstanding Seaside Park Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $350. Thomas Fuller was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

  • Criminal Mischief (Township Property) – On Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 10:46 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson responded to the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department located at 2 Warren Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a criminal mischief report. The complainant reported that between July 7, 2014 at 10:45 p.m., and July 8, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., an unknown person or persons broke a window located at the rear of the fire house. Damage is estimated at $250.

  • Eluding, Resisting Arrest, and Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer (Arrest) – On Tuesday, July8, 2014, Detective Brian Flynn charged 22-year-old Eugene J. Fisher Jr. of 601 East Arverne Avenue in Ocean Gate with multiple criminal offenses related to the June 18, 2014, incident involving a stolen Jeep Cherokee out of Waretown, NJ. The June 18th incident involved the driver jumping from the stolen vehicle, fleeing on foot, resisting arrest upon being apprehended by Officer Ewart, then fleeing again after the officer was injured wrestling with the fleeing suspect in a backyard of a residence during the overnight hours (Click for the posting regarding the Original Incident). Eugene J. Fisher was charged with the 2nd degree crime of Eluding, 3rd Degree Resisting Arrest, 3rd degree Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief. A criminal warrant was issued with bail set at $75,000. Eugene J. Fisher Jr. was served with the charges at the Ocean County Correctional Facility where he is currently lodged on unrelated charges. Possible additional charges are pending further investigation.

  • Forgery, Theft, and Warrant (Arrest) – On Monday, July 7, 2014, Officer John Simonson completed a five week investigation that began on May 27, 2014. On May 27, 2014, Officer Simonson responded to the 900 block of Capstan Drive in Forked River for a fraud report. The victim reported that several checks were stolen from his residence and later cashed at a local bank during the month of May 2014. The total cash received at the bank is estimated at $1,800. During Officer Simonson’s investigation he identified the accused as 39-year-old Michael A. Ragusa with a last known address of Pine Tree Drive in Forked River. On Monday, July 7, 2014, Officer Simonson charged Michael Ragusa with four (4) counts of Forgery, Uttering a Forged Instrument, and Theft by Deception. Bail was set at $50,000. On Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at approximately 10:00 a.m. Officer Michael Eden took Michal Ragusa into custody at the Lacey Township Police Department. Michael Ragusa was arrested and processed. In addition to the above charges, Michael Ragusa had an outstanding Berkeley Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $350. Michael Ragusa was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Monday, July 7, 2014, at 11:58 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson conducted a traffic stop on Clifton Street and Weehawkin Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 24-year-old Alysha M. Manhat of Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor, on an outstanding Lacey Township warrant in the amount of $500. Alysha M. Manhat was processed at police headquarters and released ROR pending a court date.

  • Theft – On Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 6:23 p.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a theft of gasoline. The employee reported that just prior to contacting this agency, a male subject in a Chevy Avalanche exited his vehicle and pumped $25 worth of gas in it and then left without making payment. The employee was able to record the license plate of the vehicle and a suspect has been identified. Officer Pearce is continuing his investigation and charges are pending.

  • Shoplifting, Warrant, and Resisting (Arrest) – On Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 1:42 p.m., Officer John D. Simonson responded to the Wawa, located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a shoplifting incident that just occurred. The suspect exited the store prior to Officer Simonson’s arrival. Upon arrival, Officer Simonson identified the accused as 28-year-old Ryan P. Lee with a last known address of Spruce Road in Lanoka Harbor. Officer Simonson learned that there was an outstanding no-bail warrant for Ryan P. Lee issued from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. Officer Simonson located Ryan P. Lee riding a bicycle on Harrison Avenue near Baldwin Street in Forked River. When Officer Simonson advised him he was under arrest, Ryan P. Lee jumped off of his bicycle and fled on foot toward Lakeside Drive North. Additional officers responded to the area. Ryan P. Lee was located in the rear yard of 755 Lakeside Drive North and taken into custody. Ryan P. Lee was transported to Lacey Police Headquarters and processed. Ryan P. Lee was charged with Shoplifting and Resisting Arrest. His bail was set at $2,500. Ryan P. Lee was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.

  • Fireworks (Formal Charge) – On Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 1:59 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the 400 block of Tappan Street in Forked River for a complaint of fireworks. Officer Verwey conducted an investigation at the scene and determined that 31-year-old Stephan G. Drum, Jr., of Tappan Street in Forked River, was responsible for the fireworks. He was issued a Complaint Summons at the scene for state law prohibiting fireworks.

  • Theft – On Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 1:27 a.m., Officer George Resetar responded to the 800 block of Tiller Lane in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported the between 11:15 p.m. on July 5, 2014, and 1:15 a.m. on July 6, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole his helmet from his motorcycle while it was parked in front of the residence. The helmet was described as a “Scorpion EXO” and was red, white, and blue in color. The value of the helmet is estimated at $360.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 12:02 a.m., Officers George Resetar, Adam Ewart, and Evan Androcy, responded to the 100 block of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor in regard to assisting another agency. While at the residence, a no-bail warrant issued from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department was located for one of the occupants, identified as 29-year-old Hector A. Mejias of Lexington Boulevard in Barnegat, NJ. Hector Mejias was arrested and later lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the no-bail warrant.

  • Underage Consumption of Alcohol (Formal Charges) – On Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 3:37 a.m., Officer Adam Ewart responded to the 1000 block of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a suspicious incident involving a person hiding in bushes. Upon arrival, Officer Ewart met with 19-year-old Carissa Henry of Herkimer Court in Barnegat, NJ, who was intoxicated. An investigation at the scene determined that she was attending a party on Laurel Boulevard where she was consuming alcoholic beverages. Carissa Henry was issued a complaint summons for Underage Consumption of Alcohol and released at the scene to a relative. The owner of the Laurel Boulevard residence was identified as 26-year-old Michael Giordano. He was issued a complaint summons for allowing the Underage Consumption of Alcohol at his residence.

  • Affray – On Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 2:37 a.m., Officers Adam Ewart, Charles May, and John McKee responded to Route 9 and Warren Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a fight in the street. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 22-year-old John M. Stackable of Cypress Street in Brick, NJ, and 20-year-old Dillon J. Ponzo of Middle Drive in Toms River, NJ, for mutual consent fighting. Each subject was issued a complaint summons for mutual fighting and released at the scene.

  • Fireworks (Formal Charge) and Warrants – On Friday, July 4, 2014, at 12:41 a.m., Officers Charles May and John McKee responded to the area of Clifton Street and Harrison Avenue in Forked River for a complaint of fireworks. Upon arrival, they located a subject identified as 32-year-old Christopher J. Commiso of Chelsea Avenue in Ocean Gate, NJ, actively discharging fireworks. During the course of their investigation, the officers discovered two outstanding warrants for Christopher Commiso. Warrant number one (1) was issued by the Ocean Gate Municipal Court in the amount of $1,364, and warrant number two (2) was issued by the Manchester Township Municipal Court in the amount of $498. Christopher Commiso was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and issued a complaint and summons for the fireworks violation. Christopher Commiso was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail on the outstanding warrants.

  • Fireworks (Formal Charge) – On Friday, July 4, 2014, at 9:59 p.m., Special Officer James Perotti was dispatched to the 900 block of Capstan Drive in Forked River for a complaint of fireworks. Upon arrival, Special Officer Perotti observed fireworks being discharged. Special Officer Perotti issued a complaint summons to 55-year-old Paul S. Piscitelli of Saint John’s Place in Union, NJ, for the violation of the state law prohibiting fireworks.

  • Fireworks (Formal Charge) – On Friday, July 4, 2014, at 9:09 p.m., Special Officer James Perotti responded to the 1200 block of Varuna Drive in Forked River for a complaint of fireworks. Upon his arrival, Special Officer Perotti observed a male subject, identified as 45-year-old Glen R. Howard of Patton Place in Dumont, NJ, discharging fireworks. Special Officer Perotti issued Glen R. Howard a complaint summons for the violation of the state law prohibiting fireworks.

  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Friday, July 4, 2014, at 5:56 p.m. Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to the 1900 block of W. Lacey Road in the Bamber Lakes section of Lacey Township for a report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that between the afternoon of Thursday, July 3, 2014, and the afternoon of Friday, July 4, 2014, an unknown person or persons threw a landscaping stone through the front windshield of the vehicle. The vehicle was parked along the side of the house at the time of the incident. The damage is estimated at $500.

  • Possession of Hypodermic Needle and Trespassing (Arrest) – On Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 8:17 p.m., Officers Charles May and John McKee responded to the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, on a trespass complaint. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 22-year-old Ryan D. Territo of Pollar Street in Waretown, NJ, for trespassing. (Ryan Territo was given prior notice by store management that he was not allowed on Wawa property.) In addition, Ryan Territo was found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle. Ryan Territo was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving a criminal summons for Trespassing and Possession of a Hypodermic Needle.

  • Heroin Distribution (Arrests) – On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 2, 2014, Lacey Township Police Department detectives arrested four Lacey Township males as part of an ongoing heroin distribution investigation. During surveillance, a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Joseph Bevilacqua of Ashwood Place in Lanoka Harbor and his passenger, 41-year-old John Daly of Enterprise Drive in Forked River, were observed traveling to various homes engaging in suspicious interactions consistent with drug distribution. During the surveillance which led to a Serpentine Drive residence in the Pines Section of Forked River, detectives observed 23-year-old Matthew Copeland of Lakeside Drive South in Forked River enter the rear seat of the vehicle and engage in what appeared to be a drug transaction. Detectives approached the vehicle and upon the detectives being recognized as law enforcement, Joseph Bevilacqua quickly sped from the area driving recklessly at a high rate of speed through a residential area while Matthew Copeland attempted to exit the moving vehicle on several occasions. The vehicle came to a stop near Huffy Wallis Park in the Pines Section of Forked River where all three occupants were placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle by detectives and a K-9 unit from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department yielded 92 bags of heroin. Members of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Warrants Division responded to the 315 Yorktown Drive residence where the fourth suspect, 26-year-old Christopher Jones, was arrested as he attempted to flee through a rear window of the home. Joseph Bevilacqua was incarcerated in the Ocean County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail after being charged with Possession of Heroin, Distribution of Heroin, Intent to Distribute within 500 feet of a Public Park, and Eluding Police. John Daly, who was a wanted person for a violation of probation from a previous drug charge, was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of an additional $35,000 bail for charges of Possession of Heroin and Distribution of Heroin. Matthew Copeland was charged with Criminal Attempt to Possess Heroin and released on his own recognizance. Christopher Jones was transported to jail in connection with an outstanding no-bail warrant issued by the Ocean County Superior Court. The Lacey Township Police Department seized Joseph Bevilacqua’s vehicle, a Lexus, and will be seeking civil forfeiture, as it was used in the furtherance of a crime.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 2:50 p.m., Special Officer Travis Horton conducted a traffic stop on Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Jennifer M. Palmieri of Ocean Avenue in Beachwood, NJ, was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued from the Paramus Borough Municipal Court in the amount of $150. Jennifer Palmieri was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was released after posting bail.

  • Hindering Apprehension (Arrest) – On Thursday July 3, 2014, at 7:14 a.m., Officer Robert Flynn conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of 918 Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 32-year-old Ignat Safarov of E. Long Branch Avenue in Ocean Gate, NJ, for Hindering Apprehension by providing a false name to a law enforcement officer and for Driving While Suspended for a DUI. Ignat Safarov was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving a criminal summons for Hindering Apprehension and Driving while Suspended during a period of suspension for DUI. In addition, Ignat Safarov was issued traffic summonses for driving with a suspended driver’s license and for making an improper a right on red violation.

  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 1:33 a.m., Officer Charles May responded to police headquarters for a report of a car burglary that occurred on the 900 block of Elwood Street in Forked River. Upon arrival, he met with the victim who reported that between 9:30 p.m. on July 2, 2014, and 1:20 a.m. on July 3, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered his vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of a residence on the 900 block of Elwood Street. The victim reported that the doors were locked, however, he left his window slightly down and believes that is how entry was gained. Stolen from the vehicle was approximately $100 in cash and $20 in lottery tickets.

  • Warrant(s) Arrest – On Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 5:46 p.m., Special Officer Travis Horton was conducting a check of the Trestle located at 5000 Cedar Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. While checking the area, Special Officer Horton located and arrested 29-year-old Brendan A. Derflinger of Brookdale Park Drive in Forked River on four (4) outstanding warrants issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department for nonsupport. Warrant number one (1) was in the amount of $7,737.85, warrant number two (2) was in the amount of $5,829.98, warrant number three (3) was in the amount of $5,575.00, and warrant number four (4) was in the amount of $3,691.07. Brendan A. Derflinger was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.

  • Theft from a Garage – On Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 3:52 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 600 block of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River for a burglary. The victim reported that between 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, and 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered her locked garage and stole her gray bicycle, no further description, valued at $88.00. There were no signs of forced entry.

  • Theft – On Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 12:51 p.m., Special Officer Travis Horton responded to the 800 block of Hazelton Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on July 2, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole her purple Schwinn mountain bike from the front yard of the residence. The bicycle is valued at $200.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 9:30 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to Birch Street and Chestnut Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a suspicious male. Upon arrival, Officer Sarno located 28-year-old John M. Sabie of Birch Road in Lanoka Harbor who had a no-bail warrant issued from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department. John Sabie was arrested and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

  • Theft – On Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 4:53 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the 600 block of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River for a theft. The complainant reported that between 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014, and 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered his property and stole a dirt bike from the side of the residence. The dirt bike was described as a yellow, 1996, Yamaha PW80 with a purple seat. The dirt bike is valued at $400. The dirt bike was covered by a tarp at the time of the theft.
