While conducting their investigation, a drug manufacturing system was located in the garage of the residence. The system was allegedly used to make a product known as “dabs” consisting of Butane Hash Oil (BHO) which contains extreme levels of THC; it takes the form of wax (resin) once processed. The manufacturing process can be very hazardous, as the highly flammable butane solvent used to extract the THC from raw Marijuana can easily ignite. In a poorly ventilated confined space, such as a garage, the manufacturing process, aside from being a crime, is extremely dangerous.
Parents should be aware of this wax form of concentrated THC. A very small “dab” of the substance used by a juvenile will likely cause extreme impairment far beyond that of smoking Marijuana. The substance is generally ingested, smoked, or inhaled through an electronic vapor pen. This wax (resin) has become more popular due to the intensity of the high experienced in comparison to the traditional method of smoking Marijuana.
Detective Lieutenant Christopher Cornelius responded to the residence to assist the officers with the investigation. Further investigation led to a 15-year-old female resident being taken into custody for the Manufacturing and Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS), Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
