Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 2 through June 9, 2022
DWI/Hit and Run Crash- On Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 6:27 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Sea Bright Road and Clearwater Drive, for a report of a motor vehicle crash (hit and run). The caller reported that a vehicle crashed into a tree and left the scene. The vehicle was later located a short distance away. Officers identified the driver, Jeremy Hofer, 25, of Beach Boulevard. Investigation at the scene revealed that Jeremy had been driving while intoxicated. Jeremy was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters, where he was processed. Jeremy was issued several motor vehicle summons including DWI, Reckless Driving Failure to Maintain Lane, Suspended Registration, Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Failure to Report an Accident, and Open Container. Jeremy was later released pursuant to John’s Law.
Shoplifting- On Friday, June 3, 2022, at 7:16 p.m., Officer Hyle responded to Walmart for a report of a male subject who was shoplifting. Upon arrival, Officer Hyle met with the Assistant Manager who pointed out the suspect, Robert J. Thomas, 41, of Jackson, NJ. Investigation at the scene revealed that Robert utilized a pocket knife to open packages, then conceal them on his person. The total value of the items was $247.00. Robert was arrested then transported to headquarters processing. Robert was charged with Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Shoplifting on a complaint summons. Robert was served a copy of the complaint and released.
DWI- On Friday, June 3, 2022, at 9:55 p.m., Officer Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Route 9 South and Taylor Lane. Investigation at the scene revealed that the driver, Joseph Keyrouse, 67, Hadley, NY, was driving while intoxicated. Officer Lee placed Joseph under arrest and transported him to headquarters, where he was processed. Joseph was charged with several motor vehicle summonses including DWI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Refusal to Submit Breath Samples. Joseph was released in accordance to John’s Law.
DWI- On Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 5:36 a.m., Officer Ricciardella responded to Wawa, 800 West Lacey Road, for a report of an unresponsive female in a vehicle. Upon arrival officers located a running vehicle with an unconscious female in the driver’s seat. Officers made contact with the female driver, Heatherle Benson, 37, of Toms River, NJ. At the conclusion of the investigation, Heather was placed under arrest for DWI. Heather was also found to be in possession of CDS and drug paraphernalia. Heather was transported to police headquarters where she was processed. Heather was charged criminally on a summons for Use/Being under the Influence of CDS, Possession of CDS in an Improper Container and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Heather was also issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, Unlicensed Driver, Driving While Suspended and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. She was released in accordance with John’s Law.
Criminal Mischief- On Monday, June 6, 2022, at 2:04 p.m., Officer Slota responded to the area of Taylor Lane and Kennebec Rd for a report of graffiti on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, Officer Slota observed symbols written in white paint. The value of damage is estimated at $50.00.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – May 26 through June 2, 2022
Criminal Mischief- On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 10:03 p.m., while closing the Gille Park, Officer Hyle located graffiti in both the men’s and women’s bathroom near the softball field. The estimated value in damage was $50.00.
Criminal Mischief- On Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10:06 p.m., while closing the Gille Park, SLEO II Lepeshko observed graffiti in the men’s bathroom closest to the lacrosse/softball fields. The estimated value in damage was $50.00.
Shoplifting- On Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 1:58 p.m., Officer Ricciardella responded to Walmart for a report of a female shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival Officer Ricciardella met with Loss Prevention who indicated Jennifer Frazer, 39, of Forked River, had concealed items in her purse and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. The total theft amounted to $367.84. Jennifer was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was processed. Jennifer was charged on a summons and released.
Thef/Forgery- On Sunday, May 29, 2022, at 7:09 p.m., Officer Walsh responded to the Lacey Shell for a report of a theft of gasoline. Upon arrival, the gas attendant stated an unknown male subject paid for a small quantity of gasoline using a counterfeit $100 bill. The gas attendant stated they provided the unknown subject with the change ($90.00), and the subject rode off on a bicycle. The gas attendant stated they later looked at the $100 bill and realized it was fake.
Criminal Mischief- On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 11:05 p.m., while closing the Gille Park, Officer Nilon observed graffiti in the men’s bathroom closest to the tennis courts. The estimated value in damage was $50.00.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – May 19 through May 26, 2022
DWI- On Monday, May 23, 2022, at 3:12 p.m. Officer Emmett responded to the Ocean County Library, 10 East Lacey Road, for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. Upon arrival, Officer Emmett located the vehicle in the parking lot of the Library and conducted a motor vehicle stop. Officer Emmett made contact with the driver, Margaret Elsenback (57) of 1673 Woodland Road, and observed symptoms of alcohol impairment. At the conclusion of the investigation, Margaret was arrested for DWI. She was transported to police headquarters for processing. Margaret was later issued summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving and released in accordance with John’s Law.
DWI- On Monday, May 23, 2022, at 3:30 p.m., Officer Simonson and Officer Calhoun responded to Manhattan Bagel for a report of an unconscious female slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle. Upon arrival Officer Calhoun located Sylwia Kalinowska (36), of Seaside Park, unconscious while behind the wheel of her running vehicle. Officers also observed her foot on the brake pedal and the vehicle was in drive. Officers later administered two doses of Naloxone and provided rescue breaths, which caused Sylwia to regain consciousness. Sylwia was displaying symptoms of opiate use and refused medical attention. At the conclusion of the investigation, Sylwia was arrested for DWI and transported to police headquarters for processing. Sylwia was issued traffic summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving and released in accordance with John’s Law.
Criminal Mischief- On Monday, May 23, 2022, at 4:31 p.m., Officer Copes responded to Gille Park for a report of criminal mischief. It was found that an unknown suspect spray painted on a piece of equipment. An estimated value of damage was $50.00.
Criminal Mischief- On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 7:16 p.m., Officer Hyle responded to Gille Park for a report of criminal mischief. Upon arrival, Officer Hyle observed graffiti located in the men’s bathroom, located by the tennis courts. The estimated value of damage was $50.00.
Criminal Mischief- On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 12:48 a.m., while closing the Gille Park bathrooms, Officer Hyle observed graffiti in the men’s bathroom, located by the softball field. The estimated value in damage was $50.00.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – May 12 through May 19, 2022
DWI/Possession of CDS- On Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 12:26 a.m., Officer Hyle observed a vehicle parked on Sandy Hook Drive with the driver slumped over the wheel and the engine running. Officer Hyle approached the driver, Kenneth Novak (32), of 711 Buena Vista Road, and observed wax folds (heroin) on the driver’s lap. Investigation at the scene revealed that Kenneth was under the influence. Kenneth was arrested for driving while intoxicated and possession of CDS. Kenneth was transported to headquarters where he was processed. Kenneth was charged with with multiple motor vehicle offenses including DWI, reckless driving, CDS in a motor vehicle, and prohibited parking. Kenneth was also charged with possession of CDS, being under the influence, and possession of certain prescription drugs on a criminal complaint summons. Kenneth was served with all applicable paperwork and released in accordance to John’s Law.
Fraud- On Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 4:21 p.m., Officer Carver was dispatched to police headquarters to speak with an individual in reference to a fraud related incident. Upon arrival, Officer Carver met with the victim who stated they were contacted by an individual who claimed they were an agent with the Federal Trade Commission. The victim was told their Amazon account had been flagged over a fraudulent purchase. The victim was also told their checking account had been compromised, and he needed to remove the funds from that account by purchasing gift cards to prevent the money from being stolen. The victim purchased multiple gift cards and provided the unknown suspect the gift card information. The victim reported the money was to be refunded but never was. Since that time the phone number the suspect had called from was disconnected.
Criminal Mischief- On Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 3:12 p.m., Officer Plis responded to the 400 block of Admiral Road for a criminal mischief report. Upon arrival, Officer Plis met with the caller who reported the window to their vehicle was broken. The damage was estimated at $100.00.
Theft- On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 3:04 p.m., Officer Slota responded to the 600 block of Chelsea Street for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, the victim stated sometime during the overnight hours, someone had stolen a leaf blower that was left in a trailer, unsecured. The leaf blower was valued at $700. This investigation is ongoing.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – May 5 through May 12, 2022
Shoplifting- On Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 11:43 a.m., Officer Carver and Officer Emmett responded to Walmart for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival officers met with the Asset Protection Associate, who indicated Natalie Sabie (34) of 755 Birch Road, had stolen $134.47 worth of merchandise from the store. Natalie was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was charged with shoplifting on a warrant and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
DWI- On Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 2:49 p.m., Officer Simonson responded to the area of East Lacey Road and Davenports Landing for a report of a suspicious male sitting in a vehicle. Upon arrival officers located Joseph Sebastiano (58) of 2103 Llewellyn Parkway, sitting in his vehicle and displaying obvious signs of impairment. At the conclusion of the on scene investigation, Joseph and was arrested for DWI. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed. Joseph was served traffic summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving then released in accordance with John’s Law.
Vehicle Fire- On Friday, May 6, 2022 at 2:23 p.m., Officer Carver responded to the Lacey Inn for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival the vehicle’s engine compartment was engulfed in flames. The Forked River Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. This case is under investigation.
Criminal Mischief/Graffiti- On Monday, May 9, 2022, at 12:06 a.m., Officer Keefe observed graffiti to the traffic control box near the intersection of Lacey Road and Denton Avenue. The proper agencies were notified and the graffiti was scheduled to be removed. The damage was estimated at $100.00.
Motor Vehicle Stop/Warrant Arrest/Possession of Stolen Property- On Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 12:46 a.m., Officer Pandorf conducted a motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Route 9 and Clearwater Drive, after discovering there was a warrant for the registered owner. Officer Pandorf met with the operator, Thania Schiefferstein (Age 64), of Waretown, who was also the owner of the vehicle. Thania was placed under arrest for the outstanding Ocean County Sheriff’s Department warrant, bail amount $2,500.00. Thania was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility, where it was discovered she was in possession a stolen checkbook and a wallet that had belonged to a deceased Manchester Township resident. The stolen property was returned to the Manchester Police Department and charges are pending.
