DWI/Possession of CDS- On Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 12:26 a.m., Officer Hyle observed a vehicle parked on Sandy Hook Drive with the driver slumped over the wheel and the engine running. Officer Hyle approached the driver, Kenneth Novak (32), of 711 Buena Vista Road, and observed wax folds (heroin) on the driver’s lap.  Investigation at the scene revealed that Kenneth was under the influence. Kenneth was arrested for driving while intoxicated and possession of CDS.  Kenneth was transported to headquarters where he was processed.  Kenneth was charged with with multiple motor vehicle offenses including DWI, reckless driving, CDS in a motor vehicle, and prohibited parking.  Kenneth was also charged with possession of CDS, being under the influence, and possession of certain prescription drugs on a criminal complaint summons.  Kenneth was served with all applicable paperwork and released in accordance to John’s Law.

Fraud- On Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 4:21 p.m., Officer Carver was dispatched to police headquarters to speak with an individual in reference to a fraud related incident. Upon arrival, Officer Carver met with the victim who stated they were contacted by an individual who claimed they were an agent with the Federal Trade Commission. The victim was told their Amazon account had been flagged over a fraudulent purchase.  The victim was also told their checking account had been compromised, and he needed to remove the funds from that account by purchasing gift cards to prevent the money from being stolen.  The victim purchased multiple gift cards and provided the unknown suspect the gift card information.  The victim reported the money was to be refunded but never was.  Since that time the phone number the suspect had called from was disconnected.

Criminal Mischief- On Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 3:12 p.m., Officer Plis responded to the 400 block of Admiral Road for a criminal mischief report.  Upon arrival, Officer Plis met with the caller who reported the window to their vehicle was broken.  The damage was estimated at $100.00.

Theft- On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 3:04 p.m., Officer Slota responded to the 600 block of Chelsea Street for a report of a theft.  Upon arrival, the victim stated sometime during the overnight hours, someone had stolen a leaf blower that was left in a trailer, unsecured.  The leaf blower was valued at $700.  This investigation is ongoing.
