DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, March 15, 2016, at 12:30 a.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop on Clearview Street near Ivy Street in the Barnegat Pines section of Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 36-year-old Brent Reese of Parkside Drive in Forked River, NJ, for DUI. Brent Reese was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Interlock Device, and Speeding. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

DUI (Arrest) with a Motor Vehicle Crash and a Prolonged Road Closure – At 6:58 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on Manchester Avenue near Gille Park. The crash involved a single vehicle into a telephone pole with wires down across the roadway. The driver, 19-year-old Trevor Palagonia of Glenwood Drive in Bayville, was arrested at the scene for DUI. No injuries were reported. The wires in the roadway required the closure of Manchester Avenue in front of Gille Park from Haines Street to the area of Lacey Road. The roadway remained closed for 29 hours while repairs where being completed. The roadway did not re-open until Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. The crash also rendered traffic lights on Lacey Road inoperable for a period of time.

Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 4:46 p.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas conducted a motor vehicle stop on West Lacey Road and Spaulding Avenue. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 33-year-old Christine L. Brown of Church Road in Cherry Hill, NJ, on an outstanding Howell Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $750 and another Howell Township Municipal Court Warrant in the amount of $250. Christine Brown was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and then turned over to the custody of the Howell Township Police Department.

Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 2:23 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy and Officer John Simonson responded to a residence on Ash Road in Lanoka Harbor to serve a warrant at the request of the North Hanover Township Police Department. At the residence, 46-year-old Kimberly L. Hutnick of Ash Road was placed under arrest on the North Hanover Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $2,500. Kimberly Hutnick was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and released on her own recognizance (ROR) as directed by the North Hanover Municipal Court Clerk.

Pedestrian Struck – On Friday, March 11, 2016, at 6:34 p.m., officers responded to Beach Boulevard near the intersection of Palm Beach Drive in the Forked River Beach section of the township for a report of pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. The victim, 29-year-old Shannon Seaman of Beach Boulevard in Forked River, NJ was the passenger in a vehicle that had been traveling west on Beach Boulevard and struck a dog that ran into the roadway. The dog became disoriented and was running back and forth across the roadway. In an attempt to assist the dog, Shannon Seaman exited the vehicle in which she was a passenger and entered the roadway to prevent other vehicles from striking the dog. While Shannon Seaman was trying to stop traffic, she was struck by a silver, Ford Explorer driven by a 62-year-old resident of Forked River. Shannon Seaman was thrown by the impact with the vehicle and suffered significant injuries, but was conscious and alert when officers arrived on scene. Shannon Seaman was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ via Monoc – 1 helicopter. Shannon Seaman was listed in serious but stable condition. The owner of the dog, Tim Downing of Clearwater Drive in Forked River, NJ took custody of his injured dog, Sam, a brown lab mix. The dog was taken to the veterinarian by the owner.

Criminal Mischief & Theft – On Friday, March 11, 2016, at 1:57 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to Diane Turton Realtors, 535 Lacey Road in the Forked River section of the township, for a report of criminal mischief and theft. The air conditioning contractor reported that when he arrived to service the air conditioning units of the building, he observed that someone had removed three electrical disconnect fuse boxes and several screws from the coil and compressor motor housing. The damage and theft are estimated at $600.

Vehicle Fire – On Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 4:16 p.m., Officer Michael Eden responded to Route 539 near mile marker 17 for a report of a vehicle on fire. The driver, 63-year-old Joseph Elia of 72 Redwood Lane in Freehold, NJ, reported that he was traveling north on Route 539 when he heard a loud noise and discovered that his 2006 Volkswagen Passat had caught fire. The vehicle became fully engulfed in flames which then spread to the surrounding woods. The Bamber Lakes Fire Department, Warren Grove Fire Department, Barnegat Fire Department, and the State Forest Fire Service responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 4:48 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, NJ, for a report of shoplifting. The loss prevention employee reported that he observed a female subject remove a black Otter Box Defender series phone case for a Samsung Galaxy S5 from its packaging and placed it in her purse. The female subject then attempted to leave the store without paying for the item. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 47-year-old Diane L. Kneuer of Lexington Boulevard in Barnegat, NJ for Shoplifting. Diane Kneuer was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with shoplifting merchandise valued at $39.96.

Theft – On Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 5:40 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to Accredited Dermatology, 540 Lacey Road in the Forked River section of the township, for a report of a theft. A maintenance worker reported that someone had removed all the copper and parts from inside two of the air conditioning condensing units behind the building. The theft occurred between October 2015 and March 2016. The damage is estimated at $1,200.

Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at 12:10 a.m., Officer Christopher Meyler conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Denton Avenue as a result of the registered owner having an outstanding arrest warrant. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 29-year-old Nicholas A. Thorne of Lakewood Road in Toms River, NJ, on an outstanding Toms River Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $150. Nicholas Thorne was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Unlicensed Driver and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle. Nicholas Thorne posted bail and was released.
