Drug Distribution (Arrests) – At approximately 6:30 pm on March 28, 2016, Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Operations Group (Southern Enforcement Unit) and the Lacey Township Police Department located a 2005, Ford Taurus, identified as allegedly being utilized to transport quantities of heroin into Lacey Township, which was occupied by 57-year-old Michael A. Araneo, 23-year-old Michael A. Araneo II, and 35-year-old Nicholas M. Picone. A motor vehicle stop was conducted in the area of Bay Way and Maple Road in the Lanoka Harbor section of Lacey Township. A search of the suspect vehicle located approximately 550 individual dosage units of Heroin along with a quantity of Cocaine. Police also seized approximately $1,200 dollars in cash. All three subjects were subsequently arrested and transported to the Lacey Township Police Department. Michael A. Araneo, 57, of 826 Hazelton Ave, Lanoka Harbor, NJ, was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute and Resisting Arrest. Ocean County Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels, JSC set bail at $75,000. Mr. Araneo was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Correctional Facility. Michael A. Araneo II, 23, of 826 Hazelton Ave, Lanoka Harbor, NJ, was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Cocaine. Ocean County Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels, JSC set bail at $50,000. Mr. Araneo II was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Correctional Facility. Nicholas M. Picone, 35, of 1503 Whitcomb Road, Forked River, NJ, was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Cocaine. Ocean County Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels, JSC set bail at $50,000. Mr. Picone II was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

DUI, Drug, and Warrant (Arrest) – On Monday, March 28, 2016, at 12:33 a.m., Officers Adam Ewart and Andrew Slota responded to the parking lot of Applebee’s, located at 404 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a report of a male subject slumped over the steering wheel in a vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 33-year-old Brian Davidson of Main Street in New Haven, Vermont, for DUI. In addition, he was found to be in possession of Marijuana and Xanax. Furthermore, two outstanding warrants were issued for Brian Davidson’s arrest. Warrant number one (1) was issued from the Elmwood Park Municipal Court in the amount of $500, and warrant number two (2) was issued from the Hackensack Municipal Court in the amount of $750. Bail was set in the amount of $2,500 for possessing Marijuana and Possession of CDS (Xanax). He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail. In addition he was issued traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, March 27, 2016, at 9:42 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to 606 Beach Boulevard in the Forked River Beach section of Forked River in reference to a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 26-year-old Kyle Conroy of 606 Beach Boulevard in Forked River, NJ, on an outstanding Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Warrant in the amount of $5,000 and on an outstanding Brick Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500. Kyle Conroy was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

Trespassing and Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, March 27, 2016, at 3:25 p.m., Officers Jeffrey Slota and Adam Ewart responded to Lacey Materials, located at 5001 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, officers located three individuals trespassing. The individuals were identified as: 21-year-old Christopher J. Crincoli of Skimmer Court in Forked River; 25-year-old Kevin L. Snell, Jr. of Lakeview Drive South in Toms River; and 31-year-old Joseph I. Crincoli, Jr. of 19th Avenue in Brick, NJ. Christopher Crincoli and Kevin Snell were charged with Trespassing on a summons and released at the scene. Joseph J. Crincoli was found to have an outstanding Toms River Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500. Joseph Crincoli was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after posting full bail. In addition, he received a summons for Trespassing.

Shoplifting and Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, March 27, 2016, at 2:47 p.m., Officers Frederick Anderson and Jeffrey Slota responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a male shoplifter in custody. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 28-year-old Nicholas Ramos of Shell Way in Lavallette, NJ for shoplifting merchandise valued at $29.99. In addition, a Berkeley Township Municipal Court no-bail warrant was located for his arrest. Nicholas Ramos was transported to police headquarters and processed. Bail was set at $1,000 for the offense of Shoplifting. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the $1,000 bail and the no-bail warrant.

Traffic Crash – On Saturday, March 26, 2016, at approximately 3:12 a.m., Officers George Resetar, John McKee, and Robert Duffy responded to a motor vehicle crash off West Lacey Road on the Lacey Materials private property. The crash involved a single vehicle with four occupants. A 2003, Chevrolet, 2500 pick-up truck was traveling on a packed dirt road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and left the travelled portion of the roadway. The vehicle became airborne and struck several trees before coming to rest on its passenger side, trapping one of the occupants. The vehicle was operated by 19-year-old Michael Fox-Ricci of Route 9 South in Forked River, NJ. Michael Fox-Ricci and two passengers, identified as 21-year-old Tyler Hayes of Arlington Avenue in Forked River, NJ, and 19-year-old Thomas Boyd of Admiral Road in Forked River, NJ, were all transported to Community Medical Center. The front-seat passenger, 20-year old John Giberson of Falkenburg Avenue in Forked River, NJ, was extricated by the Forked River Fire Company and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ via helicopter. He is currently in critical but stable condition with various injuries. The crash is being investigated by Officer Adam Ewart and Sergeant Robert Flynn of the Lacey Township Police Department FAST Team. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office FAST team, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI unit, Forked River Fire Department, Lacey Township First Aid Squad, and MONOC Paramedics also responded to the scene. Charges have not yet been filed and the investigation is continuing.

DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, March 25, 2016, at 11:53 p.m., Officer Elton Copes conducted a motor vehicle stop on East Lacey Road and Route 9 in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 36-year-old Elizabeth Duncan of Snipe Road in Forked River, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Elizabeth Duncan was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and impeding the Flow of Traffic. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

Theft from a Vehicle – On Friday, March 25, 2016, at 3:26 p.m., Officer Frederick Anderson responded to the 800 block of Deguise Street in Lanoka Harbor for a theft report. The victim reported that between 6:00 p.m. on March 24, 2016, and 10:00 a.m. on March 25, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle that was parked in his driveway and stole two laptop computers valued at a total of $350. One of the computers was a Chromebook provided to the victim by Lacey Township High School and the other was a Lenovo which belonged to the victim’s friend.

Animal Complaint – On Friday, March 25, 2016, at 8:18 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer and Officer Michael Eden responded to Joffre Road in Forked River in reference to dogs that had attacked the neighbor’s cat. The victim reported that her neighbors’ dogs jumped a fence and entered her yard where they attacked her 11-year-old cat “Bow Tie.” The dogs, a 2-year-old brown pit-bull mix named “Bo” and a 1-year-old, white and brown pit bull named “Zoe” belong to residents on Joffre Road in Forked River, NJ. The cat died while en route to the Veterinarian’s office. The township Animal Control Officer, Michael San Juan, responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation. The dogs were ordered to be quarantined at the residence. Jillian K. Basista and Thaddeus J. Byckiewicz were each charged with township ordinances for Dog Running at Large and for Failing to License Dog.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Thursday, March 24, 2016, at 5:20 a.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Ocean First Bank located at 900 Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 34-year-old Donald M. Defeo of Baltusrol Drive in Mays Landing, NJ, on an outstanding Mays Landing Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Donald Defeo was released after posting full bail.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 4:14 p.m., Officers Brian Holt and Dimitri Tsarnas responded to Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a female shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 50-year-old Lillian Dunsmuir of Hazelton Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for shoplifting merchandise valued at $50. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was released after receiving a criminal summons for Shoplifting.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 2:36 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella and Officer Brian Holt responded to the Lacey Township Municipal Court in regard to a wanted person. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 45-year-old Michael Gray of Halsey Avenue in Bayville, NJ, on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $2,500. Michael Gray was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was later lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 10:13 a.m., Officers Patrick Watkins responded to Wawa, located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River, in regard to a shoplifting incident that occurred earlier in the day. The store manager reported that an adult female, later identified as 48-year-old Carolyn Therrien of Devon Street in Forked River, allegedly shoplifted merchandise valued at $15.06. Officers Patrick Watkins and Scott Keefe responded to the Devon Street residence and met with the accused Carolyn Therrien. She was placed under arrest for shoplifting and transported to police headquarters. Carolyn Therrien was processed and released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.
