Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – May 26th Through June 1st, 2017
- Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Thursday, June 1, 2017, at 9:34 a.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the Walmart , located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a car burglary that just occurred in the parking lot. A vehicle description was provided. Responding officers located and stopped the vehicle in the ShopRitePlaza, located at 348 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 57-year- old Allan C. Morgan, Jr., of Hampton, Virginia, for burglary of an automobile and the theft of a Garmin GPS and a pack of cigarettes, with a total value of $58. Further investigation revealed that Allan C. Morgan, Jr., shoplifted a Marketside Italian Hero, valued at $3.98, while he was in the Walmart, just prior to the auto burglary. He was also found to be in possession of CDS. Allen C. Morgan was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving criminal summonses for Burglary, Theft , Shoplifting, Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- DUI Arrest – On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 11:39 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a traffic stop in the area of Beach Boulevard and Bahama Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 21-year-old Carley Adamczyk, of Leeward Road in Stafford, NJ for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Carley Adamczyk was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving and Failure to Stop. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 7:25 p.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to the 500 Block of Windsor Street in Forked River for a report of damage to a vehicle. The vehicle owner reported that between 7:00 p.m. on May 30, 2017 and 7:00 p.m. on May 31, 2017, an unknown person or persons damaged the rear passenger side door of his vehicle by scratching the paint. The damage is estimated at $500.
- Theft – On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 6:57 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 700 Block of Tampa Road in Forked River for a report of theft. The homeowner reported that between 4:30 p.m. on May 30, 2017 and 6:30 p.m. on May 31, 2017, an unknown person or persons entered his backyard and stole five (5) Autocraft car batteries with a total value of $650.
- Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, Officer Holt responded to the Barnegat Pines Section of Forked River for reports of criminal mischief to eleven (11) vehicles. Residences on Bullard Avenue, Chelsea Street, Falkenburg Avenue, Shepard Avenue, Penn Avenue, Station Drive and Wainwright Street were affected. The vehicles were parked both on the roadway and in the driveways. The involved damage ranged from one damaged tire per vehicle to all four tires per vehicle being damaged. The total damage at this time is estimated at $3000.00 The incident remains under investigation.
- DUI with Motor Vehicle Crash (Arrest) – On Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 8:44 p.m., Officers Michael Baldasari and Julie Barcalow responded to Caffrey’s, located at 440 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a report of a motor vehicle crash. The driver, 54-year-old Paul T. Gerhauser, of G Street in Forked River, reportedly backed his vehicle into two parked cars. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Paul T. Gerhauser for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Paul T. Gerhauser was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Improper Backing. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Shoplifting – On Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 3:08 p.m., Lieutenant Vincent Meehan and Officer Darrell Nick responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of two shoplifters. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a 17-year-old female juvenile from Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $9.76, and the arrest of 18-year-old Kevin Fair of Seaside Heights, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $29.84. The juvenile was released at the scene to the custody of a family member. She will be charged on a juvenile complaint with Shoplifting. K. Fair was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving a criminal summons for Shoplifting.
- Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 4:02 a.m., Sergeant Robert Surtees, along with Officers Michael Baldasari and Scott Keefe responded to the 800 block of Route 9 S, near the Oyster Creek Power Plant, in Forked River, for a report of two suspicious males that were observed walking near the fence. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 38-year-old Michael Bezak of Letts Landing in Waretown, NJ, on two outstanding no-bail warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and warrant number two (2) was issued from the Berkeley Township Municipal Court. Michael Bezak was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was later lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
- DUI Arrest – On Monday, May 29, 2017, at 7:09 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 North near Jones Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 57-year-old Robert L. DeFelice, of South Ocean Avenue in Seaside Park, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Robert DeFelice was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Shoplifting – On Monday, May 29, 2017, at 4:54 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the Wal-Mart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for the report of a female shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 38-year-old Brenna A. Haase of Elwood Street in Forked River, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $56.69. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Brenna A. Haase was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
- Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, May 28, 2017, at 9:06 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota was on patrol in the 5000 block of Lacey Road in Forked River, when he located damage to a property gate. During the overnight hours, an unknown person or persons damaged the lock on the gate. The damaged lock is estimated at $35.
- Drug Arrest– On Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 5:00 p.m., Officer Michael Baldasari conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 North near Walmart in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a passenger, identified as 19-year-old Antonio C. Cardoso of Emmet Street in Newark, NJ for possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Antonio C. Cardoso was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less.
- Theft – On Sunday, May 28, 2017, at 12:23 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to the 500 block of Route 9 South in Forked River, for a theft. The property owner stated that an outside air conditioning condensing unit had just been stolen. The owner stated that the units are alarmed and the alarm went off alerting him to the theft. The unit is valued at $5000. The incident remains under investigation.
- Trespassing – On Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 7:24 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the Wawa, located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River, for an unwanted person. Investigation at the scene led to a Special Form of Complaint and Summons being issued to 56-year-old Jerilyn Wilbert of Lincoln Avenue in Seaside Heights, NJ, for Trespassing. She had been previously advised she was not allowed on the property as per Wawa management and had returned.
- DUI Arrest – On Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 4:40 a.m., Officer John McKee responded to West Lacey Road, near the intersection of Carriage Road, in Forked River, for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. A description of the vehicle was provided and Officer McKee located it. An Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 25-year-old Bryce M. Allen of Jeffer Court in Wyckoff, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Bryce M. Allen was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Shoplifting – On Friday, May 26, 2017, at 7:49 p.m., Officers Elton Copes and Patrick Watkins responded to the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a report of a female shoplifter, who fled on foot. A description was provided by the Wawa employee. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 27-year-old Melissa Loehnert of Eagleswood Place in Forked River, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $11.65. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Melissa Loehnert was charged on a criminal warrant for Shoplifting and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing.

- Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 5:56 p.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to police headquarters for a theft report. The victim reported that between 9:30 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. on May 24, 2017, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his Wiley-X prescription sunglasses valued at $350. The vehicle was parked in the Home Depot Parking lot, 244 Route 9 North in Forked River, when the theft occurred.
- Drug Arrest – On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 5:12 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a report of a suspicious female inside the store. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 25-year-old Lisamarie Narciso, of Freemont Avenue in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, for being Under the Influence of CDS. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Lisamarie Narciso was released after receiving criminal summonses for Being Under the Influence of CDS, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
- Drug Arrest – On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 12:47 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 North near Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 20-year-old Michael A. Sparrowe of Skiffway Drive in Forked River, for possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Michael A. Sparrowe was released after receiving criminal summonses for Underage Possession of Alcohol, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, he received traffic summonses for CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Observe a Traffic Control Device and a Provisional Driver Violation.
- Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 12:01 a.m., Officer Michael Baldasari observed a suspicious adult male walking near Spirits Unlimited, located at 3 Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 55-year-old James T. Cort, of Olds Street in Forked River, on an outstanding Ocean County Sheriff’s Department no bail warrant. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. James Cort was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
- Criminal Mischief and Trespassing (Commercial)– On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 4:17 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to Lacey Used Auto Parts, located at 602 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of two juvenile males breaking car windows. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a 14-year-old juvenile male from Forked River and a 14-year-old juvenile male from Lanoka Harbor for criminal mischief. They were both transported to police headquarters, processed and released to their respective parents. Juvenile complaints are pending for trespassing and criminal mischief. The Lacey Township Detective Bureau is conducting the investigation.
- Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 5:39 a.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to the 700 block of Clearwater Drive in Forked River, for a report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that between 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on May 23, 2017, an unknown person or persons threw a large amount of black paint on the front and rear driver’s side windows and doors of her vehicle while it was parked in front of the residence. The damage to the vehicle is estimated to be $500.
- Warrant Arrest – On Monday, May 22, 2017, at 11:32 a.m., Officers Daniel Ricciardella and John D. Simonson responded to Christopher’s Auto Sales, located at 309 Route 9 North in Forked River, to serve an arrest warrant. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 25-year-old Taylor J. Savage of Winding Way in Andover, New Jersey, on an outstanding Stafford Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $1,000. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Taylor Savage was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
- Warrant Arrest – On Monday, May 22, 2017, at 8:27 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 9 North and Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 48-year-old Michael J. Mancuso of 3rd Street in Lodi, New Jersey, on an outstanding Brick Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $500. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Michael J. Mancuso was released after posting full bail. In addition, he received a traffic summons for Failure to Wear a Seat Belt.
- DUI Arrest – On Sunday, May 21, 2017, at 8:52 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the parking lot of the Home Depot, located at 244 Route 9 North in Forked River, for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 56-year-old John C. Grillo of Maywood Place in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. John C. Grillo was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Burglary, Theft and Criminal Mischief (Commercial) – On Sunday, May 21, 2017, at 7:50 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to 510 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a report of a burglary. The complainant reported that on Friday, May 19, 2017, he found several windows on the building had been broken. Furthermore, between Friday, May 19, 2017 and Sunday, May 21, 2017, the building was entered and items were stolen, specifically a MIG Welder valued at $100 and an air compressor valued at $100. The damage to the broken windows is estimated at $500. The incident remains under investigation.
- Underage Consumption of Alcohol Arrest – On Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 2:18 a.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a suspicious incident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a 14-year-old male juvenile from Forked River, for underage consumption of alcohol. He was charged on a juvenile complaint with the offense and released to the custody of his parents.
- DUI Arrest – On Friday, May 19, 2017, at 8:39 p.m., Officers Jesse Dalziel and Jason Lee responded to the 1000 block of Capstan Drive in Forked River, for a report of a suspicious incident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 37-year-old Eric J. Kaboski of Bowline Drive in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Eric J. Kaboski was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving. In addition, he was issued a criminal summons for Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. The vehicle Eric J. Kaboski was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – May 12th through May 18th, 2017
- Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 12:56 a.m., Officers Jesse Dalziel, Scott Keefe, and Jason Lee responded to the Wawa, 701 Route 9, Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a suspicious male in the parking lot. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 19-year-old Alexander J. Madonna of Pheasant Drive, Bayville, New Jersey, on an outstanding harassment warrant out of South Toms River in the bail amount of $500. Alexander Madonna was arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed and ROR’d on the warrant.
- Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 11:08 p.m., while investigating a suspicious person at the 7-Eleven, 524 Lacey Road, Forked River, Officer Jesse Dalziel discovered that 51-year-old Antonio Giudice of Deerhead Lake Drive, Forked River, had an active Child Support Warrant out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department in the amount of $10,327.86. He was arrested, transported to police headquarters and processed. He was also issued a motor vehicle summons for Driving with a Suspended License, and transported to the Ocean County Correctional facility on the warrant.
- DUI Arrest – On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 9:37 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop at Beach Boulevard and Cape Code Drive, Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 47-year-old Craig P. Roberson of Buena Vista Road, Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Refusal, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Produce a Valid Insurance Card. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- CDS Arrest (Heroin) – On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 8:45 p.m., Officers Scott Keefe and Michael Verwey responded to Via Napoli Restaurant located at 510 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a suspicious incident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old David M. Garcia, Jr., of Pine Valley Court, Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, for possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, served with criminal warrants for Possession of CDS and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional facility to await a bail hearing (in conjunction with bail reform).
- Brush Fire – On Monday, May 15, 2017, at 7:45 p.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to Route 9 and Salters Lane, Forked River, for a report of a brush fire. Investigation at the scene revealed that the fire was ignited by a blown transformer and downed power lines, which also created a power outage in the area, including the traffic signal at Lakeside Drive South and Route 9, Forked River. The fire was quickly extinguished by the Forked River Fire Department. Nothing was damaged except an old abandoned trailer. Jersey Central Power & Light was notified and arrived to restore power to the area.
- Telephone/Internet Scam – On Monday, May 15, 2017, at 10:25 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the area of Penn Place, Forked River, for a report of a fraud that occurred via the telephone/internet. Investigation at the scene revealed that the victim received a call from an unknown male subject on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, advising him to sign into his computer and he would see a bunch of warnings that would need his attention. The victim did exactly what the caller asked of him and purchased two $150 Itunes cards online and provided the information to the caller. The victim was further told that he would need to call back a number that was provided to him. The victim stated that when he called back the number it was out of service. This raised his suspicions that he was scammed out of his money. The victim was also contacted on Saturday, May 13, 2017, by another unknown male voice advising him that he was a Federal Agent named “Jacob Whitmore” and he had violated a child pornography law on his computer and would be arrested if he did not pay $500 in restitution fees to him. This second call prompted the victim to notify the authorities.
- DUI/MVA/Hit and Run – On Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 5:56 p.m., Officer George Resetar responded to the intersection of Route 9 and Haines Street, Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 20-year-old Chelsea L. Speranza of Buena Vista Road, Forked River, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Underage Person DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Report Motor Vehicle Accident, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, and Failure to Yield Right of Way. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Shoplifting Arrest – On Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 3:07 p.m., Officer Charles May responded to Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a female shoplifter in custody. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 37-year-old Toni A. Penniman of Oakleaf Court, Lanoka Harbor, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $120.86. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, charged on a Criminal Summons for Shoplifting, and released.
- Counterfeit Currency – On Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 11:44 a.m., Officer Charles May responded to the Lacey Shell Gas Station located at 930 Lacey Road, Forked River, for a report of a counterfeit $100 bill. Investigation at the scene revealed that a male driving a white Cadillac paid for $34 worth of gas using a $100 counterfeit bill. The owner of the vehicle was tracked down and he responded to Lacey Shell to settle his debt. He advised that he was unaware that the money was counterfeit.
- Bicycle Theft – On Friday, May 12, 2017, at 11:16 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the 400 block of Devon Street, Forked River, for a report of a stolen bicycle. The caller reported that her daughter’s bicycle was stolen from a friend’s home near the 500 block of Alpine Street, Forked River, during the overnight hours between Saturday, May 6, 2017, and Sunday, May 7, 2017. The bicycle was locked up; however, the lock was cut and the bicycle was stolen. The bicycle is described as a sky blue beach cruiser with white flowers and is valued at $400.
- Warrant Arrest – On Friday, May 12, 2017, at 12:16 a.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel conducted a motor vehicle stop at Jones Road and Route 9 North, Forked River. Investigation at the scene revealed that a passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Sydney A. Littleford, of Predmore Avenue, Lanoka Harbor, had an active warrant out of Tuckerton for possession of Marijuana under 50 grams in the bail amount of $500 cash. She was arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after posting bail.

- Drug and Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 11:41 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 near the intersection of Jones Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 19-year-old Deja Rojas of Lee Way in Forked River for possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, a 17-year-old female passenger from Forked River was arrested for possession of CDS. An additional passenger, identified as 18-year-old Sydney Littleford of Predmore Avenue in Lanoka harbor was arrested on an outstanding Tuckerton Borough Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $500. All three were transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Deja Rojas was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, she was issued traffic summonses for Careless Driving and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. The female juvenile was released to her parent after being charged on a Juvenile Complaint with Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less. Sydney Littleford was released after posting full bail on the Tuckerton Borough warrant.
- Shoplifting Arrest – On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 11:03 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a 17-year-old female from Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $99.62. She was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. The juvenile was charged on a juvenile complaint with shoplifting and released to a parent.
- Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 2:49 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a traffic stop on Maple Road near Chestnut Drive in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 23-year-old Randy R. Rizzolo of Spruce Street in Forked River, on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $139. Randy Rizzolo was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. He was released after posting bail.
- Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Monday, May 8, 2017, at 9:14 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to police headquarters for a theft report. The complainant reported that between 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017, and 6:30 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole property. The vehicle was parked in the roadway near the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Devon Street in Forked River. The complainant reported that a red plastic case containing a three-quarter inch socket set valued at $100 was stolen from the vehicle.
- DUI Arrest – On Monday, May 8, 2017, at 8:46 p.m., Officer Michael Baldasari responded to the 1500 block of Dee Road for a report of an intoxicated driver. While on scene Officer Baldasari contacted the driver. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 35-year-old Michael R. Muscatell of Dee Road in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Michael Muscatell was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving.
- Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 3:58 p.m., Officer Dan Ricciardella responded to Lacey Used Auto, located at 602 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of damage to a vehicle. The business owner reported that during the overnight hours of May 7th, 2017, an unknown person or persons broke the windshield of a customer’s vehicle that was parked behind the main building which is secured by a locked fence. The business owner advised that he had several incidents of criminal mischief in the last week. The damage to the vehicle is estimated at $200.
- DUI and Drug Arrests – On Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 6:31 p.m., Officer Brian Holt was on patrol when he was waved down by a female driver who pulled into the parking lot of 213 Route 9 North in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 46-year-old Lisa L. Aguayo of Brighton Road in Barnegat, NJ, for DUI. Furthermore, the passenger in the vehicle, identified as 47-year-old Michael J. Wiston of Southwind Drive in Waretown, NJ, was arrested for possession of CDS. Both subjects were transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Lisa Aguayo was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Open Container in a Motor Vehicle, and Refusal to Submit Breath Samples. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Michael Wiston was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less.
- Warrant – On Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 11:36 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to Police Headquarters to serve an outstanding Port Republic warrant in the amount of $215. Upon arrival Officer Schaffer met with 20-year-old Morgan A. Costello of Chelsea Street in Forked River and processed her on the warrant. She was released after posting bail.
- Suspicious Incident – On Friday, May 5, 2017, at 7:26 p.m., Sergeant Ronald Buxton and Officer Elton Copes responded to the wooded area behind Ash Road Park, located at 501 Ash Road in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of an open crate containing a grenade. The officers observed a military style foot locker in the woods approximately 15 feet from the roadway. The foot locker contained military clothing and other military items along with a rusted grenade. The New Jersey State Police Bomb Unit, along with the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department and Lanoka Harbor EMS responded to the scene as a precautionary measure. The roadway remained closed for a short amount of time until the grenade device was determined to be inert (replica).
- Criminal Mischief Arrest – On Friday, May 5, 2017, at 2:06 a.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to the 100 block of Pine Street in Forked River, for a report of criminal mischief. The complainant reported that she had been watching television when her dog began to bark. Upon exiting her home to investigate, she observed several freshly cracked eggs on her storm door and front walkway. In addition, a vehicle in her driveway had also been “egged” and the entire length of the driver’s side had been freshly scratched. The complainant was able to obtain a license plate number from a vehicle she observed leaving from her residence. An investigation resulted in the issuance of a Special Form of Complaint and Summons against 18-year-old Marissa E. Hebrew of Alpine Street in Forked River for Criminal Mischief and 18-year-old Aubrey R. Costello of Elwood Street in Forked River for Creating a Public Inconvenience.

- DUI Arrest – On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 7:18 p.m., Officer Martin Julian conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 North near the 7-Eleven store in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 45-year-old Keith T. Kientopp of Yorktown Drive in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Keith Kientopp was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Possessing an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Theft (Residence) – On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 4:51 p.m., Officer Elton Copes responded to the 1000 block of Clubhouse Drive in Forked River, for a theft report. The complainant reported that on April 25, 2017, a delivery company delivered her package, containing prescription medication, to a neighboring residence by mistake. When the delivery company realized they delivered the package to the wrong residence, they contacted the homeowners who denied having it. The package of medication has not been located and the incident remains under investigation. The exact value of the stolen medication is unknown at this time.
- Theft of Bicycle – On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 4:38 p.m., Officer Martin Julian responded to the Home Depot, located at 244 Route 9 North in Forked River for a stolen bicycle report. The victim reported that between 3:30 p.m., and 4:15 p.m., on May 3, 2017, an unknown person or persons stole his black mountain bike valued at $250. The bicycle was outside in front of Home Depot and was unlocked.
- Theft of Wire– On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 11:45 a.m., Officer George Resetar responded to the 900 block of Capstan Drive in Forked River for a theft report. The complainant reported that between 5:00 p.m., on May 2, 2017, and 9:00 a.m., on May 3, 2017, an unknown person or persons cut and stole a 50 foot roll of aluminum electrical wire from the side of the residence. The electrical wire is valued at $200.
- Structure Fire – On Monday, May 1, 2017, at 12:43 a.m., Officers Scott Keefe and Anthony Sarno responded to the 800 block of Cable Drive in Forked River, for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, Officer Anthony Sarno observed an exterior light fixture on fire. He utilized his fire extinguisher and extinguished the blaze. All of the residents had exited the residence and were uninjured. The Forked River Fire Company responded and determined that there was no further fire or threat of fire. The Ocean County Fire Marshal responded and determined that the fire was not suspicious in nature. The damage was confined to the light fixture and the vinyl siding in that area.
- Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Sunday, April 30, 2017, at 9:42 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 800 block of East Hickory Drive in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a burglary. The victim reported that between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m., on Saturday, April 29, 2017, an unknown person or persons entered her residence and stole clothing and documents with an approximate value of $40.00. There were no signs of forced entry and the incident remains under investigation.
- Drug Arrest (Multiple) – On Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 10:21 p.m., Officer Christopher Meyler was on patrol when he observed four male juveniles in the southbound lane of Manchester Avenue in Forked River. When Officer Meyler prepared to check on the juveniles, he detected an odor of burnt marijuana. Officer Meyler contacted the juveniles and continued to detect a strong odor of burnt marijuana. An investigation at the scene led to the arrests of a 16-year-old male from Lanoka Harbor, a 16-year-old male from Bayville, NJ, and a 14-year-old male from Point Pleasant, NJ, for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less. They were transported to Police Headquarters and processed. All three juveniles were charged on a juvenile complaint and released to the custody of a parent.
- Shoplifting and Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 5:44 p.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to Kohl’s, located at 304 Route 9 North in Forked River, for a male shoplifter who fled the store. A description was provided and an investigation was initiated. A short time later Officer Daniel Ricciardella located the individual, later identified as 24-year-old Peter A. Leogrande, of Clifton Street in Forked River, in the parking lot of Spirits Unlimited, Route 9 and Lacey Road. Officer Riccirardella arrested Peter Leogrande for shoplifting merchandise valued at $129.30. In addition, a no-bail Trenton Municipal Court warrant was located for his arrest. Peter Leogrande was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. He was charged on a Criminal Warrant with Shoplifting and Hindering Apprehension, by initially providing Officer Ricciardella with a false name. Peter Leogrande was later lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing. In addition, he was held on the no-bail bench warrant.
- DUI Arrest – On Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 1:26 a.m., Officer Jason Lee observed a suspicious vehicle partially in the roadway and partially in the front yard of a residence on the 800 block of Devon Street in Forked River. The vehicle’s engine was running and the lights were on. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 26-year-old Michael C. Dodd of Devon Street in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Michael Dodd was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- DUI Arrest – On Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 12:42 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a traffic stop on Laurel Boulevard near Basin Road in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 25-year-old Brian C. Murphy of Cedar Avenue in Waretown, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Brian C. Murphy was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Observe Traffic Signal, and Speeding. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- DUI Arrest – On Friday, April 28, 2017, at 9:26 p.m., Officer Christopher Meyler conducted a traffic stop on Kearny Avenue near Lakeside Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 71-year-old Joe B. Truland of Norwick Drive in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Joe Truland was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Friday, April 28, 2017, at 4:58 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow responded to Kohl’s, located at 304 Route 9 North in Forked River, for a report of a car burglary. The victim reported that at approximately 4:00 p.m. (April 28, 2017) he had gone into Kohl’s, leaving his vehicle unlocked. Upon returning to his residence, it was discovered that a large black duffel bag containing cash, gift cards, shoes, clothing and other miscellaneous items was stolen from his vehicle. The total theft is estimated at $720.00. The incident remains under investigation.
- Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Friday, April 28, 2017, at 4:41 p.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to Saltspray Drive in Forked River for damage to a vehicle. The victim reported that during the overnight hours of April 27, 2017, an unknown person or persons embedded a nail in the side of a tire on her vehicle, flattening same, while parked at the residence. In addition, some of the electronics on the vehicle were no longer working. The damage is estimated at $300.
