UPDATE – West Lacey Road Chemical Spill – At 2:20 a.m., West Lacey Road was reopened for traffic after being closed due to a chemical spill on West Lacey Road near Aspen Road. The spill was discovered at 10:41 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2014, leading to a 5 mile stretch of roadway being closed for nearly 4 hours (10:45 p.m. to 2:20 a.m.). The Bamber Lake Fire Company responded along with the Berkeley Hazmat Unit. The 5 mile section of West Lacey Road from the Garden State Parkway to Dover Road was closed due to the chemical spill. The roadway was opened to traffic at 2:20 a.m., Monday August 11, 2014, after Berkeley Hazmat cleared the scene. The NJDEP was notified by Berkeley Hazmat and will be responding to deal with the location of the spill within the wooded area.
