On Thursday October 7, 2021, at 10:08am, Detectives from the Lacey Township Police Department were investigating a recent burglary and theft within Lacey Township, and attempted to speak with the suspect after observing him on Brentwood Road, Forked River. The male suspect obstructed the investigation by flight, and began running away from Detectives at the scene. Additional officers were called to the scene to assist in locating the suspect. The suspect was observed running in the direction of Denton Avenue, at which point he entered a rear locked yard of a property on Brentwood Road. The suspect remained in the rear locked yard of the property until discovered by officers and arrested on scene. Due to the proximity of the property to the Lacey Township Middle School, officers and school officials remained in communication throughout the incident. There was no threat to the school, nor was the school put into lockdown. The suspect remains under investigation by the Lacey Township Police Department. Details of the arrest and charges will follow once the investigation is complete.
