Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – March 15th, through March 21st, 2019
Theft – On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 1:13 p.m. Officer Randolph Plis responded to police headquarters to take a report of theft. The complainant reported that a trailer was stolen from his property located on the 1700 block of Lakeside Drive South, between Monday, March 18, and Tuesday, March 19, 2019. The total amount of the theft is estimated at $4,000. The incident remains under investigation. Residential Burglary – On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 7:11 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the 1700 block of Lakeside Drive South in Forked River for a report of an attempted residential burglary. The complaint reported that sometime between 10:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19th, an unknown person(s) attempted to gain entry to the residence through a bedroom window on the side of the house. Nothing appeared to be missing from the home. The estimated cost to repair the damage to the window is $300. Warrant Arrest – On Monday, March 18, 2019, at 9:33 p.m., at police headquarters, Officer Patrick Watkins arrested 34-year-old Lauren M. Distracted Driving Enforcement and Education Campaign, UDrive UText UPay - April 1 - April 21, 2019 (Lacey Township) -- Law enforcement officers from the Lacey Township Police Department will be cracking down on distracted drivers during April as part of New Jersey’s UDrive UText UPay enforcement campaign. Beginning April 1st, 2019 and continuing through April 21st, 2019, the high visibility law enforcement initiative will target motorists who engage in dangerous distracted driving behaviors such as talking on hand-held cell phones and sending text messages while driving. Distracted driving is possibly the most serious issue on our roadways today. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that in 2015 alone, 3,477 people were killed in distracted driving crashes and an estimated 391,000 people were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver. In New Jersey, driver inattention was listed as a contributing circumstance in 52 percent of the state's crashes in 2015. Driver inattention was in fact listed as a contributing factor in crashes at a rate nine times higher than that of the next highest contributing factor (speed). Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Extra DUI Enforcement for Saint Patrick’s Day Weekend
Extra DUI Enforcement for Saint Patrick's Day Weekend DUI Enforcement and Prevention remains a top priority for the Lacey Township Police Department. The danger presented to the public by motorists who choose to get behind the wheel of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is too often realized through a tragic motor vehicle collision. This weekend the Lacey Township Police Department will be conducting additional DUI patrols for Saint Patrick's Day. Stealth-type marked vehicles will be utilized to conduct the patrols. Specifically dedicated Drunk Driving Enforcement Funds (DDEF Grant) allows for these additional DUI enforcement patrols. The intent of these extra DUI patrols are to make the roadways in Lacey Township as safe as possible for the motoring public. There is zero tolerance in Lacey Township for operating a motor vehicle while DUI. If drivers are caught operating their vehicle while impaired by drugs and/or alcohol they will be arrested. A first-offense DUI conviction will result in severe penalties, including but not limited to: a driver's license suspension and fines, along with potential towing and impound fees as a result of John's Law. DUI Arrest – On Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 11:57 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Michael Baldasari responded to the 800 block of East Hickory Drive in Lanoka Harbor, for a disturbance. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 50-year-old Laura Dunn of Jay Street in Forked River for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Laura Dunn was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving. Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 11:15 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 South and Taylor Lane in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 27-year-old Kathryn Lundy of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor, on an outstanding Point Pleasant Beach Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $250. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Kathryn Lundy was released after posting bail. DUI Arrest – On Tuesday, January 17, 2017, Officers Julie Barcalow and Jason Lee responded to JR’s Liquors, located at 1000 Lacey Road in Forked River for an unrelated alarm. While at the scene, a seperate DUI investigation began. The investigation led to the arrest of 45-year-old James Frey of Green View Way in Toms River, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. James Frey was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle and Consuming Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law Warrant Arrest – On Monday, January 16, 2017, at 11:05 p.m., Officer Michael Baldasari conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Caffrey’s, located at 440 Route 9 South in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 27-year-old Keith W. Hestermann, Jr., of North Penn Avenue in Forked River, on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $750. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Providing Alcohol to Underage Persons and Underage Possession of Alcohol – On Wednesday, January 11, 2017, Officer Dalziel was on patrol when he observed a suspicious incident involving two males and two vehicles in the 7-11 Store parking lot located on the corner of Route 9 and First Street in Forked River. Officer Dalziel ultimately conducted a traffic stop on one of the vehicles. An investigation determined that 24-year-old Michael A. Krasowski of Algonquin Trail in Forked River had just purchased alcoholic beverages and provided them to a 17-year-old male from Forked River. Michael A. Krasowski was issued a Special Form of Complaint for Making Alcohol Available to Underaged Persons and released at the scene. The 17-year-old male was issued a summons for speeding. In addition, the 17-year-old male from Forked River was later charged on a Juvenile Complaint with Underage Possession of Alcohol. Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 9:59 p.m., Officers Elton Copes and Patrick Watkins responded to the 700 block of Meadow Lane in Forked River to serve an arrest warrant.
