Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – April 12th through April 18th, 2019
Brush Fire – On April 11, 2019, at 6:09 p.m., Officers Sarno and Barcalow responded to Earie Way, Forked River, for a reported brush fire. The fire, approximately ¼ acre in size, was extinguished by members of the Forked River Fire Company. The fire is under investigation. DWI – On April 11, 2019, at 8:00 p.m., Officer Sarno conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Canterbury Drive and Sheffield Drive for failure to maintain lane. Further investigation led to the arrest of the driver, 69 year-old Thomas Maxfield of Forked River, for DWI. He was later released with traffic summonses for DWI, Reckless, Failure to Maintain Lane, Open Container, and Careless Driving. Suspicious Fire- On Friday, April 12, 2019 at 9:20 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to a Phillip’s Road, Bamber Lake, residence for two older vehicles on fire in the rear yard of the residence. The Forked River Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, the Lacey Township Detective Bureau responded, along with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sherriff’s Department CSI, and the Ocean County Fire Marshal. Lacey Township Police Department News—Juvenile Police Academy will be starting Monday, July 15th, 2019 and ending Thursday, July 18th, 2019
The Lacey Twp. Police Department will be holding a Junior Police Academy for Lacey Township students who have successfully completed the seventh grade and will be entering eighth grade. The program is designed to provide recruits with an exciting and challenging experience for those students interested in a career in law enforcement. The four-day course will allow the recruit to observe a mock crime and use each phase of the investigative process to identify and arrest a suspect. The recruits will be required to work together while participating in the following: Evidence collection Fingerprint processing K-9 track Interview and interrogation Court room testimony The recruits must also participate in a daily physical fitness regimen and military etiquette. Due to the amount of resources necessary, only 30 recruits will be chosen to participate in the program. The Lacey Township Junior Police Academy is NOT a program for at risk or troubled youths. Applicants CANNOT have disciplinary issues and must be able to work independently and with other recruits in a group setting. Those accepted will be provided with a daily uniform and lunch. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Narcotics Distribution Arrests – April 12, 2019
The Lacey Township Police Department Detective Bureau, in cooperation with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, conducted a several month-long investigation into the distribution and possession of narcotics within Lacey Township. On Friday, April 12, 2019, detectives from the Lacey Township Police Department and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, assisted by the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, and Stafford Township Police Department K-9 Unit, executed a search warrant at an apartment located in Building 7 of the Cornerstone at Lacey complex, 900 Gary Smith Way, Forked River. Present in the apartment at the time the warrant was executed were the targets of the investigation, Anthony Caruso and Kelly Trangone, both of Forked River, along with Robert Charlie of Bayville, Davina Deusinger of Browns Mills, and Jamin Alegre of Waretown. Located within the residence were large quantities of crystal methamphetamine, and several types of prescription medications including, but not limited to Oxycodone and Clonazepam. In addition, there were numerous hypodermic syringes, glass smoking pipes and straws containing residue, and drug paraphernalia consistent with the packaging and distribution of narcotics, including digital scales, cutting agents, baggies, and ledgers. Theft of Handgun – On Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 8:56 a.m., Officer George Resetar responded to the 600 block of Forest Lane, Forked River, for a report of a stolen handgun. Investigation at the scene revealed that the complainant was moving his firearms to a new location in his home and discovered that a handgun along with a magazine was missing from one of his gun cases. The case still contained one magazine, a weapon lock and the owner’s manual. The missing handgun is described as a semi-automatic 9 millimeter Springfield XD MOD.2 series, black in color. The complainant advised that he last saw the gun sometime in December of 2016 and he did not discover it missing until this March 9, 2017. The handgun was entered into NCIC, APBnet and distributed to all local law enforcement agencies. House Fire – On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at 11:02 p.m., Officer Martin Julian responded to the 900 block of Clifton Street, Forked River, for a report of a structure fire. Shoplifting Arrest – On Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 9:31 p.m., Martin Julian responded to the Wawa located at 800 Lacey Road, Forked River, for a report of an adult male who took food items totaling $7.87 and left the store without paying. Further investigation led to the arrest of 26-year-old Dominick J. Degasperi of 7th Street, Waretown, New Jersey. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released on a criminal summons for shoplifting. Bicycle Theft – On Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 4:18 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to Bud Mezara Park, 1400 Lakeside Drive South, Forked River, for a report of a stolen bicycle. Investigation at the scene revealed that the victim had left her 26” Huffy Beach Cruiser, purple in color with a white seat and whitewall tires along with a silver helmet at the park while she went for a brief walk. When she returned to the park, her bicycle and helmet were gone. The bicycle is valued at $120 and the helmet is valued at $40, for a total of $160. Theft - On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 2:57 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the 1700 block of Sommerell Avenue in Forked River, for a report of a stolen bicycle. The complainant reported that between 4:00 p.m. on February 18, 2017 and 3:00 p.m. on February 21, 2017, an unknown person or persons stole their unsecured bicycle from the yard of the residence. The bicycle is described as a black and pink Mongoose 20” mountain bike valued at $120. Burglary and Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 1:48 p.m., Officer Frederick Anderson responded to the 200 block of Chestnut Drive in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a burglary. The victim reported that between October 2016 and February 21, 2017, an unknown person or persons forced entry into their residence by breaking a rear garage window. Once inside the person or persons rummaged through the residence, however, it is unknown if anything was taken. The damage to the window is estimated at $100. The Lacey Township Police Detective Bureau was notified and the incident remains under investigation.
