Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – February 7th through February 13th, 2020
Arrest- On Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 8:56 a.m., Officers Dan Ricciardella and Michael Verwey arrested John Panagakos, 37, at his Forked River home. Panagakos was wanted in connection with an outstanding Lacey Municipal Court warrant. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in accordance with bail reform. Fraud- On Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 5:07 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno met with a Forked River resident reporting fraud. The resident reported that he was contacted by McAfee Virus Software and allowed the representative access to his computer. During the access, the suspect, who was not an employee of McAfee, was able to transfer funds from the victim’s bank account. Arrest- On Friday, February 7, 2020, at 2:39 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop on Sunrise Boulevard. During the stop, the driver, Zakiya Thomas, 25, was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant. Thomas was transferred to the Ocean County Correctional Facility for the Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Coffee With a Cop – Tomorrow, February 14th, 6am to 10am
The Lacey Township Police Department's Coffee with a Cop event, will take place tomorrow, February 14th (Valentine's Day) at the Wawa, located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River. The event will begin at 6:00 a.m. and conclude at 10:00 a.m. Stop by and enjoy some free coffee and conversation with Lacey Township Police Officers. In addition to coffee, the first 100 Coffee with a Cop patrons will receive a free Valentine's Day donut provided by Wawa. Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 12:04 p.m., Officer John McKee responded to police headquarters to process an outstanding traffic warrant out of Toms River Municipal Court in the amount of $350. The subject, 31-year-old Jesse R. Gibson, of Holmes Avenue North, Forked River, was processed and released by Officer McKee. Theft – On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 12:05 p.m., Officer Verwey responded to the Captain’s Inn, East Lacey Road, Forked River, for a report of theft. Eight empty beer kegs, valued at $250.00, were stolen from the business over a two day period from May 12, 2018 and May 13, 2018. Video surveillance was obtained from the scene. The incident remains under investigation. DUI/Warrant Arrest – On Monday, May 14, 2018, at 11:09 p.m., Officer Martin Julian conducted a motor vehicle stop on Ensign Drive, Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 30-year-old Frank A. Paradise of Chestnut Lane, Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Frank A. DUI Arrest — On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at 9:09 a.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 South and Taylor Lane, Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 44-year-old Andrew J. Mandell, Jr., of Stern Avenue, Manahawkin, New Jersey, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Andrew Mandell was released after receiving traffic summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Following Too Closely. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Warrant Arrest — On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 11:45 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the 2000 block of Hillwood Road, Forked River, for a report a suspicious male subject believed to have an active warrant for his arrest. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 36-year-old Robert J. Charlie of Serpentine Drive East, Bayville, New Jersey, on a criminal warrant issued out of Lacey Township for simple assault. Robert Charlie was handcuffed, searched, and transported to the Ocean County Jail without incident. Transformer Fire — On Thursday, May 4, 2018, at 6:38 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson responded to the area of 620 Lacey Road for a report of a transformer explosion that caused a small brush fire to ensue. The brush fire was extinguished by Forked River Fire Department and no damages occurred to any structures as a result of the transformer fire. Notification to JCP&L was made by the fire company. CDS Arrest — On Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 8:26 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop on Lacey Road near the intersection of Lane Place, Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 48-year-old Robert J. Braden of Elizabeth Avenue, Whiting, New Jersey. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and released. Robert Braden was charged on a summons for Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. He also received motor vehicle summonses for Maintenance of Lamps, Failure to Produce Driver’s License, CDS in a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of an Open Container.
