• DUI Arrest — On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at 9:09 a.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 South and Taylor Lane, Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 44-year-old Andrew J. Mandell, Jr., of Stern Avenue, Manahawkin, New Jersey, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Andrew Mandell was released after receiving traffic summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Following Too Closely. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Warrant Arrest — On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 11:45 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the 2000 block of Hillwood Road, Forked River, for a report a suspicious male subject believed to have an active warrant for his arrest. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 36-year-old Robert J. Charlie of Serpentine Drive East, Bayville, New Jersey, on a criminal warrant issued out of Lacey Township for simple assault. Robert Charlie was handcuffed, searched, and transported to the Ocean County Jail without incident.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) — On Sunday, May 6, 2018, at 7:43 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 800 block of Tappan Street, Forked River, for a report of criminal mischief to a motor vehicle. Investigation at the scene revealed that the caller’s vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of the residence, had its rear passenger side window shattered. The vehicle was locked and it did not appear that anything was missing. The damage to the vehicle was estimated at approximately $1,000.00.
  • Warrant Arrest — On Sunday, May 6, 2018, at 1:25 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to Charlie Brown’s Restaurant located at 121 Route 9 South, Forked River, for the report of a subject with outstanding warrants. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 36-year-old Shaughn G. Terrill of Pine Street, Lanoka Harbor, on a warrant issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department with bail set at $6,631.57 and a warrant issued out of Atlantic City with $89.00 bail. Shaughn Terrill was handcuffed, searched, and transported to the Ocean County Jail without incident.
  • Theft from Residence — On Sunday, May 6, 2018, at 1:13 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the 700 block of Meadow Lane, Forked River, for a theft report. The complainant reported that approximately $3,252.00 in jewelry, watches, rings, and loose change has been missing from the residence since February of 2018. The matter remains under investigation.
  • Fight — On Sunday, May 6, 2018, at 10:48 a.m., Sergeant Michael Eden along with Officers Michael Hutman and Michael Verwey responded to a report of a road rage incident in the Shop Rite parking lot, 348 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene revealed that one of the parties had failed to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk which led to a road rage incident involving pushing, shoving, and throwing food. All parties involved left the scene and no complaints were filed at this time.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident / Property Damage — On Sunday, May 6, 2018, at 10:27 a.m., Officer John McKee responded to TJ Maxx, located at 348 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a vehicle crashing into the building. Investigation at the scene revealed that two vehicles were involved. One of the vehicles ran into one of the building supports in front of the doors to TJ Maxx following a sideswipe accident that occurred in front of the store. The Lacey Township Building Inspector responded and deemed the structure to be unsafe, causing the closure of TJ Maxx for one business day.
  • Simple Assault — On Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 8:29 p.m., Officer Julian Martin responded to the Captain’s Inn, 304 East Lacey Road, Forked River, for a reported assault involving two female patrons. Investigation at the scene revealed that one of the females was followed into the outside Tiki Bar bathroom area and struck in the back of her head by another female patron known to her. No injuries were reported from the attack and no complaints were filed at the time.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident / DUI Arrest — On Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 8:15 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the area of Lacey Road and Carriage Road for a reported one car motor vehicle accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 25-year-old Christian Lee of Haines Street East, Lanoka Harbor, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Christian Lee was released after receiving traffic summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Inspect. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • DUI Arrest — On Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 3:47 p.m., Officers Darrell Nick and Michael Hutman were dispatched to the area of Oak Street and Caldwell Avenue, Forked River, for a report of a male subject that passed out in his vehicle and was lying on the ground. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 32-year-old Raymond P. Sleeper of Glen Oak Drive, Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Raymond Sleeper was released after receiving traffic summonses for DWI, Driving While Suspended, and Reckless Driving. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • CDS Arrest — On Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 7:51 a.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the 800 block of Center Street, Forked River, for a report of a suspicious vehicle with two males sleeping inside. Investigation at the scene led to the arrests of 28-year-old Ryan J. Dautorio of Center Street, Forked River, and 39-year-old William M. Barbato of Johnson Avenue, Point Pleasant, New Jersey. They were transported to police headquarters and processed. Ryan Dautorio was charged on a warrant with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Hypodermic Needle, and Possession of CDS. In addition, Ryan Dautorio was served with three active warrants; one from Brick Township in the bail amount of $350.00, one from Brick Township in the bail amount of $300.00, and one from Upper Freehold in the bail amount of $500.00. William Barbato was charged on a warrant with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Hypodermic Needle, and Possession of CDS. In addition, William Barbato was issued motor vehicle summonses for Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle and Suspended Driver’s License. They were both transported to the Ocean County Jail.
