Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. UPDATE – Chemical Spill – Lacey Township Police Department – Monday, August 11, 2014
UPDATE - West Lacey Road Chemical Spill - At 2:20 a.m., West Lacey Road was reopened for traffic after being closed due to a chemical spill on West Lacey Road near Aspen Road. The spill was discovered at 10:41 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2014, leading to a 5 mile stretch of roadway being closed for nearly 4 hours (10:45 p.m. to 2:20 a.m.). The Bamber Lake Fire Company responded along with the Berkeley Hazmat Unit. The 5 mile section of West Lacey Road from the Garden State Parkway to Dover Road was closed due to the chemical spill. Preliminary investigation indicates that a truck carrying 55 gallon containers of fluid left the roadway and crashed into the woods along West Lacey Road. The truck left the scene spilling diesel fuel in the roadway and leaving behind several 55 gallon containers of fluid within the woods along the roadway. The roadway was opened to traffic at 2:20 a.m., Monday August 11, 2014, after Berkeley Hazmat cleared the scene. The NJDEP was notified by Berkeley Hazmat and will be responding to deal with the location of the spill within the wooded area. Emergency Road Closing – West Lacey Road in Forked River – Chemical Spill (Possible Diesel Fuel) – Monday, August 11, 2014
UPDATE: As of 2:20 a.m., the roadway is now OPEN. ROADWAY REOPENED Emergency Road Closing - West Lacey Road (Monday, August 11, 2014 - 1 a.m. to present) - Due to a chemical spill (possible diesel fuel) on West Lacey Road between Penhook Road and Aspen Road, the section of West Lacey Road from the Garden State Parkway (GSP) to Dover Road will be closed until further notice. The Berkeley Hazmat Unit is on scene (1:00 a.m.) and efforts are being made to properly deal with the spill. West Lacey Road will not be available to motorists until further notice. Alternate routes will need to be utilized. The roadway will be blocked for westbound traffic near the Garden State Parkway requiring that westbound traffic use an alternate route. Since there is no outlet along West Lacey Road prior to the spill, traffic will not be permitted to continue beyond the area of the GSP. Likewise, traffic heading eastbound from the area of Bamber Lake will be diverted at Dover Road, as no other outlet is available. Weekly Police Blotter - Press Release July 29th, thru August 4th, 2014 . . Death by Auto (Arrest) - On Monday, August 4, 2014, at approximately 11:55 p.m., a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 9 South near Mario’s Pizzeria in Forked River. The investigating officers determined that a 2000, Dodge, Ram, 1500 van driven by 27-year-old Patrick Clayton of Bayville was traveling North on Route 9 when for an unknown reason the vehicle drifted over the center line into the southbound lane and onto the shoulder of the roadway. Marcelo Romano Nolazco, 37, and his friend Jose Sanchez, 38, both of Forked River, were walking north on the southbound shoulder of Route 9 when the Dodge Ram came from behind them and struck Nolazco directly while grazing Mr. Sanchez who was walking with Mr. Nolazco. Mr. Sanchez was uninjured, however, Mr. Nolazco was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:15 a.m.After striking the pedestrians, Patrick Clayton did not stop his vehicle and left the scene. He continued into a nearby Applebee's restaurant parking lot.
