Township News – Lacey Township Police Department – May 21, 2021
On April 19, and May 17, 2021, the Walmart Corporation sponsored COVID-19 vaccination clinics for residents of Lacey Township 55 years of age or older. The vaccination clinics took place at the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, 2 Warren Ave in Lacey Township. In total, 870 vaccinations were provided over the course of these two dates. These clinics would not have been possible without the support of Mr. Joseph Michael, who is the Health and Wellness Director (Jersey Shore) for the Walmart Corporation, Lacey Township Mayor Peter Curatolo, and the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department. Thank you for partnering together to offer these vaccinations to our residents!!
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – May 13 through May 20, 2021
Shoplifting- On Friday, May 14, 2021, at 7:34 p.m., Officers Keith Pearce and Brian Holt were dispatched to Walmart for a shoplifting incident. During their investigation, officers determined that two Bayville residents, Valerie Coelho, 53, and Pelagio Coelho, 49, attempted to steal merchandise valued at $185.72. Both were arrested and charged with Shoplifting prior to being released. Theft- On Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 8:21 p.m., a Llewellyn Parkway resident contacted police reporting a theft. Officer Randy Plis responded and reported that a Charbroil gas grill was stolen from the homeowner’s driveway. The male suspect, who was captured on surveillance video, was operating a Honda Ridgeline. The grill was valued at $200. Arrest- On Sunday, May 16, 2021, at 5:53 p.m., Sergeant Michael Verwey and Officer Matthew D’Antonio responded to Route 9 and Lacey Road for a vehicle not moving from the intersection. Officers discovered a male driver and a female passenger asleep in the vehicle and not responding. Upon awakening, both subjects appeared under the influence. A search of the vehicle yielded 165 bags containing heroin, 20 syringes, and over $500 cash. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – 6 year-old Celebrates her Birthday at Lacey PD – May 18, 2021
The above photos depict 6 year-old Hazel celebrating her birthday with the Lacey Township Police Department (May 13, 2021). Last Thursday, May 13, 2021, the Lacey Township Police Department was honored to meet with 6 year-old Hazel from Lacey Township and celebrate her 6th birthday. Hazel met with Lacey Police Officer Michael Hutman, who taught her how to utilize the emergency lights, sirens, and PA system in his patrol vehicle (see attached photos). Police Chief Michael C. DiBella appointed Hazel as an honorary special police officer for the Lacey Township Police Department and looks forward to her serving our community. We all had a great time celebrating Hazel's birthday and thank her and her family for visiting us. Happy Birthday Hazel! Stop by and see us anytime.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 17 through June 24, 2021
Theft- On Friday, June 18, 2021, at 8:47 a.m., Officer Scott Anderson was dispatched to an Orlando Drive residence in reference to theft. The homeowner reported that while preparing to go on a golf outing, he placed his bag of clubs near the street waiting for a friend to pick him up. As he was inside the home, an unknown subject stole the clubs from the end of the driveway. The theft is valued at $2,650. Theft- On Friday, June 18, 2021, at 1:51 p.m., Officer Dan Ricciardella met with a resident in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim conveyed that he dropped his 1997 Ford F-150 at a Hemlock Lane several weeks prior to have work performed by a private mechanic. The resident/mechanic there reported that when the vehicle went missing he assumed the owner picked up the truck. The theft is valued at $3,500. MVA- On Sunday, June 20, 2021, at 6:52 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe was dispatched to a wooded area near the Ocean Township border for a dirt bike accident. Fraud- On Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 4:21 p.m., Officer Dallas Gant met with a Forked River resident reporting fraud. The victim claimed that he received notice from NJ Unemployment concerning his application. The victim conveyed that he had not applied for unemployment benefits and that an unknown actor filed fictitiously using his personal information. Fraud- On Friday, June 11, 2021, at 3:52 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno was dispatched to a fraud report. The victim reported that someone utilized her bankcard to make a $220 purchase. Although the bank card never left her possession, the purchase was made through an internet site and delivered to Houston, Texas. MVA- On Monday, June 14, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., officers responded to the Lacey Mall in reference to a pedestrian struck. The investigation revealed that a 34 year-old Brooklyn woman fell from the passenger compartment of a vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for head injuries and the incident remains under investigation. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 3 through June 10, 2021
Burglary- On Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 10:07 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to a Tappan Street residence in reference to vehicle burglaries. The homeowner reported that during overnight hours, unknown person(s) entered two vehicles parked in his driveway. While inside, the actors stole a small amount of cash and a duffel bag containing clothing. Arrest- On Sunday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the Lacey Inn in reference to a tenant dispute. While there, officers discovered that the tenant, William Grischuk, 28, had an outstanding warrant issued by the South Toms River Municipal Court. William was arrested on the strength of the warrant and was turned over to South Toms River Police. Burglary- On Monday, June 7, 2021, at 8:10 a.m., Officer Alan Abrecht was dispatched to Brickwall Corporation for a reported theft. The owner conveyed that over the weekend, suspects broke into several storage containers stealing various items from within. Additionally, several catalytic converters had been cut from vehicles on the property. Detective Adam Ewart and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit processed the scene.
