POWER OUTAGE
The Lacey Township Police Department is aware of the Power Outage affecting our community. The outage was caused by a down wire. A time frame for the power restoration is unknown at this time.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 10 through June 17, 2021
Fraud- On Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 4:21 p.m., Officer Dallas Gant met with a Forked River resident reporting fraud. The victim claimed that he received notice from NJ Unemployment concerning his application. The victim conveyed that he had not applied for unemployment benefits and that an unknown actor filed fictitiously using his personal information. Fraud- On Friday, June 11, 2021, at 3:52 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno was dispatched to a fraud report. The victim reported that someone utilized her bankcard to make a $220 purchase. Although the bank card never left her possession, the purchase was made through an internet site and delivered to Houston, Texas. MVA- On Monday, June 14, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., officers responded to the Lacey Mall in reference to a pedestrian struck. The investigation revealed that a 34 year-old Brooklyn woman fell from the passenger compartment of a vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for head injuries and the incident remains under investigation. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Passing of Former Lacey Police Officer David W. Supsie, Badge #69 – June 15, 2021
The above photo depicts (Officer) David W. Supsie (center) at Ground Zero in 2001, where he assisted many first responders in their search and recovery efforts. It is with deep regret that the Lacey Township Police Department announces the loss of former Lacey Township Police Officer David W. Supsie, Badge #69. David Supsie passed away on June 12, 2021, after a courageous battle with Cancer. David Supsie was a Lacey Township Native, and attended both Lacey Township and Toms River South High Schools, graduating in 1985. An avid athlete; David Supsie excelled in both high school football and baseball prior to attending Brookdale Community College, where he played a key role towards reaching the Junior World Series. As a well-respected pitcher at the collegiate level, his passion and talent ultimately earned a baseball scholarship for the University of New Orleans. David Supsie began his Law Enforcement career with the New Jersey Department of Corrections, serving as a Corrections Officer at Trenton State Prison. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – August 19th through August 25th, 2021
Arrest- On Thursday, August 20, 2021, at 10:05 p.m., officers responded to the Lacey Mall in reference to a disturbance. Employees of Forked River Wine and Spirits reported that a customer kicked the front door and spit on the glass after being advised that the business was closed. Officers located the subject, Kevin Unruh, 24, walking on Nautilus and attempted to speak with him. Kevin reportedly reached inside the patrol car slapping the computer screen. After exiting their vehicles, one officer was struck in the face by Unruh while another was bit in the hand. Unruh was arrested and placed in the rear of a patrol where he kicked out the rear window. Unruh was charged with Aggravated Assault on Police, Criminal Mischief, Terroristic Threats, and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility without bail. DWI- On Friday, August 21, 2021, at 2:14 a.m., Officers Scott Keefe and Dallas Gant responded to a motor vehicle accident on Oxford Road. Disorderly Conduct- On Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 7:39 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins was waived down by a passing motorist reporting an altercation at the intersection of Route 9 and Lacey Road. Officer Watkins responded and identified the parties as the passenger of a vehicle and the operator of a motorcycle. Investigation revealed that during a verbal dispute, the motorcycle operator, Richard Cangiano, 57, struck the windshield of the car. The vehicle’s passenger, Anthony Senatore, 63, exited the vehicle and punched Cangiano multiple times. Cangiano was charged with Disorderly Conduct while Senatore was issued a summons for Simple Assault. Both were released pending a Court appearance. DWI- On Sunday, August 15, 2021, at 5:38 p.m., Officers Michael Baldasari and Michael Hyle arrested an intoxicated driver in the parking of Wawa, Lanoka Harbor. Uriel Gonzalez, 39, was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, Unlicensed Driver, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle. Gonzalez was released and provided a Court date. Road Rage- On Sunday, August 15, 2021, Lacey Police received a call from Brick Police regarding their investigation of a road rage incident. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – August 5th through August 12th, 2021
Fire- On Friday, August 6, 2021, at 10:31 p.m., Officer Nyeem Calhoun was dispatched to a Mallard Drive residence in reference to a fire. Upon arrival, a fully engulfed dumpster was found in the driveway of the residence. After being extinguished by the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, the fire was deemed non-suspicious by the Ocean County Fire Marshal. Theft- On Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 10:16 p.m., Officers Scott Keefe and Nyeem Calhoun responded to the Forked River Beach Bayfront Park in reference to subjects removing signs. The officers located and identified the actors as Kyle Lindemann, 20, of Howell, and Lucas Newholme, 18, of Waretown. Both actors were charged with Theft of Moveable Property as the officers recovered five township owned signs. Lindemann and Newholme were also charged with a local ordinance violation for being in the park after hours. Arrest- On Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 10:25 p.m., officers served an arrest warrant at a Leguene Avenue home. Once inside the residence, Ronald Sileo was located hiding in the garage. Sileo was arrested and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in reference to a Lacey Municipal traffic warrant and a no-bail criminal warrant issued by the Ocean [...]
