Promotion to Sergeant and New Officers Appointed
On Thursday, July 8, 2021, the Lacey Township Police Department promoted Detective Charles May to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant May joined the Department in 2007 after serving in the United States Air Force. During his time with us, Sergeant May spent eight years in the patrol division prior to being assigned as the Department’s first School Resource Officer. Sergeant May is a member of the Ocean County SWAT team and a liaison to the Police Chaplains. The Department is also happy to announce the hiring of four full-time police officers; Joseph Pandorf, Dylan Emmett, Nyeem Calhoun, and Michael Hyle, Jr. They are all Veterans of the Armed Forces and each comes with police experience. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – July 1 through July 8, 2021
DWI- On Friday, July 2, 2021, at 4:11 p.m., several officers responded to the area of Riverview Road in reference to a driver going into the water. Officers eventually located the vehicle on Tamiami Road and deemed the driver under the influence. Robert Hahn, 59, pulled away from officers as he was being arrested leading to criminal charges of Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Justice. Hahn was issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing, and Reckless Driving. MVA- On Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 5:19 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Route 9 and First Street for a motor vehicle accident. Officers discovered that a vehicle left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. The pole was broken off at the base and was being suspended by the power lines. The accident caused Route 9 to be closed for approximately 12 hours. The 19 year-old female driver was uninjured. Arrest- On Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 2:57 p.m., multiple officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting. COVID-19 Vaccines Available
COVID-19 vaccines will be available at the Lacey Township Mill Pond School on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 3-7 pm. Anyone with questions pertaining to the event can contact the Ocean County Health Department at (732) 341-9700.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – September 30 through October 7, 2021
Theft- On Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 3:01 p.m., Officer Michael Baldasari responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 N, to meet with asset protection regarding a theft of money from a cash register involving an employee. Officer Baldasari’s investigation revealed Juana Martinez, 19, had stolen a total of $485.00 over the course of a few days. Juana Martinez was placed under arrest for the theft and released on a summons. Theft- On Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 6:41 p.m., Officer Michael Hyle responded to Ralph’s Italian Ice for a theft report. The owner reported that someone had stolen money out of the tip jar. Investigation revealed the identity of the suspect as Marie Ortiz, 35. Officer Hyle and Officer Keefe located Marie Ortiz who admitted to the theft. Marie Ortiz was issued a special complaint for theft of approximately $19.00. Fire- On Friday, October 1, 2021, at 5:28 p.m., Officers responded to a wooded area behind a Nautilus Boulevard residence for a report of a brush fire. Upon arrival, officers observed logs and brush smoldering. The Lanoka Harbor Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire without any further damage. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – September 23 through September 30, 2021
Theft- On Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 2:11 p.m., Officer Nyeem Calhoun was dispatched to take a theft report. An employee of CVS reported that her mountain bicycle was stolen from outside the store. No suspects were noted. Suspicious Person- On Monday, September 27, 2021, at 3:58 p.m., Officers Michael Hutman and Tyler Walsh responded to Wawa, 444 Route 9, in reference to a suspicious male. Two juvenile females reported that they were approached by an adult male who was harassing them. The suspect was identified as Leonard Brown who was ultimately issued a summons for Harassment. He was released at the scene. DWI- On Monday, September 27, 2021, at 8:58 p.m., Officer Martin Julian conducted a motor vehicle stop on Beach Boulevard. The vehicle was stopped for excessive speed and not having headlights illuminated. During the encounter, Officer Julian determined that the driver, Jessica Yannacone, was under the influence. Jessica was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, Refusing to Submit to Breath Samples, Speeding, Headlights Required, and Failure to Maintain Lane. She was released on her own recognizance. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – September 16 through September 23, 2021
Trespassing- On Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 12:14 p.m., Officers Michael Hein and Scott Anderson were dispatched to Spirits Liquors in reference to a trespassing complaint. Officers discovered that Moses Sutton, 28, was inside the store refusing to leave after being advised previously that he was not welcome on the property. Sutton was issued a complaint for Defiant Trespass. Theft- On Friday, September 17, 2021, at 2:49 p.m., Officer Dan Ricciardella was dispatched to a Lanoka Harbor residence for a theft report. The owner reported that unknown suspect(s) forced open the rear gate of his property stealing items from within. The theft, that is valued at $3,500, consisted of copper line sets, fittings, and scrap. Burglary- On Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 9:29 a.m., Officer Matthew D’Antonio was dispatched to Cycleworld for a reported burglary. The owner reported that during the overnight hours, unknown suspect(s) cut locks and entered numerous storage trailers on the property. Burglary- On Monday, September 20, 2021, at 6:31 p.m., officers responded to a Birch Lane residence for the report of men fighting.
