Township News – Lacey Township Police Department – Road Closure – Sunrise Blvd and Foxwood Lane – August 10, 2021
Due to a motor vehicle crash on Sunrise Blvd and Foxwood Lane in Forked River involving a utility pole, residents and drivers can expect traffic detours and widespread power outages in the area throughout the afternoon and evening of August 10, 2021. Sunrise Blvd will be shut down between Sunset Drive and Fernwood Lane.
Department News – Ocean County Police Chiefs Association Offers Regionalized Testing and Recruitment – August 6, 2021
UPCOMING POLICE TEST ANNOUNCEMENT The Ocean County Police Chief’s Association is holding an upcoming entrance exam on August 17, 2021. The Lacey Township Police Department plans to use the results of this test to hire part-time Class I and Class II Special Police Officers that we may need over the next year (not including those currently in the hiring process). Lacey Township Police Department is a Civil Service Police Department and must follow the CSC guidelines when hiring full-time police officers. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – July 22nd through July 29th, 2021
Disorderly Conduct- On Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 5:22 p.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven, 403 Route 9, in reference to a gentleman causing a disturbance. During the investigation, police issued a summons to Moses Sutton, 28, for Disorderly Conduct. Minutes after clearing from the scene, officers were dispatched to the store again. After originally being told he was no longer permitted on the property, Sutton returned and was inside the store. Sutton was issued a second summons for Trespassing. Theft- On Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 10:22 p.m., a Township resident reported that while parked in the Lacey Mall lot, an unknown suspect entered his vehicle stealing a Coach purse. The bag, which contained multiple personal items, was valued at $175. Missing Person- On Friday, July 23, 2021, at 9:32 p.m., Officer Dylan Emmett responded to a Brookdale Park Drive residence in reference to a missing woman. The caller reported that the 71 year-old woman, who suffers from dementia, wandered from the residence. Numerous officers along with a K-9 Unit from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department initiated a search. The woman was ultimately located with minor injuries in the Pheasant Run development. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – December 2, 2021 through December 9, 2021
Warrant Arrest- On Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 8:06 p.m., Officer Martin Julian conducted a motor vehicle stop on the 700 block of Route 9 South in Forked River, after observing a violation. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver, Zalika Hamilton, 26, had an outstanding Ocean Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $450. Zalika was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. She was later released after satisfying the bail. Warrant Arrest- On Friday, December 3, 2021, at 9:10 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a motor vehicle at the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Evans Road. The vehicle owner, Rashaun Small, 23, was arrested on an outstanding Barnegat Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $450. Rashaun Small was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released from custody after satisfying the bail. Criminal Mischief- On Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 4:01 p.m., Officer Michael Hyle responded to Lacey Liquors on Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, in reference to a complaint of damage. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – November 25, 2021 through December 2, 2021
Motor Vehicle Stop/Warrant Arrest: On Friday, November 26, 2021, at 10:45 pm, Officer Dylan Emmett conducted a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Route 9 and Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor, for no head lights on. The driver, Jacquelyn Smith, age 30, was found to have an outstanding no-bail warrant from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. As a result of the warrant she was arrested and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility without incident. Motor Vehicle Stop/Warrant Arrest: On Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 1:51 pm, Officer Michael Hyle conducted a motor vehicle stop on Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor. The driver, William Frank, age 77, was found to have a suspended driver’s license and an outstanding Berkeley Township Municipal Court warrant. W. Frank was transported to headquarters where he posted his bail in full. He was issued a motor vehicle summons and released. Criminal Mischief: On Sunday, November 28, 2021, at 5:46 pm, Officer Michael Hyle responded to Gille Park for a report of criminal mischief to the bathrooms. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – November 18 through November 25, 2021
Theft- On Friday, November 19, 2021, at 12:36 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe was dispatched to Wawa, 800 Lacey Road in reference to a theft. The victim reported that she exited the store and accidently left her purse behind. As she returned to retrieve the purse, it was missing. The purse was later located in the lot with contents removed. The incident remains under investigation. Arrest- On Friday, November 19, 2021, at 1:04 p.m., Officer Nyeem Calhoun arrested a Forked River resident on the strength of an outstanding warrant. Craig Roberson was arrested in connection with $500 cash bail set by the Haddon Township Municipal Court. He was released after the bail was satisfied. Summons- On Friday, November 19, 2021, at 11:37 p.m., Officer Dallas Gant issued a Special Complaint Summons to an adult female at the Deerhead Lake parking lot. Lauren Hartman, 30, was charged with Possessing/Inhaling a Toxic Chemical and released from custody. Hartman was charged with the same offense on November 20 by Officer Hyle while in the parking lot of Walmart.
