Theft- On Friday, November 19, 2021, at 12:36 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe was dispatched to Wawa, 800 Lacey Road in reference to a theft. The victim reported that she exited the store and accidently left her purse behind. As she returned to retrieve the purse, it was missing. The purse was later located in the lot with contents removed. The incident remains under investigation.

Arrest- On Friday, November 19, 2021, at 1:04 p.m., Officer Nyeem Calhoun arrested a Forked River resident on the strength of an outstanding warrant. Craig Roberson was arrested in connection with $500 cash bail set by the Haddon Township Municipal Court. He was released after the bail was satisfied.

Summons- On Friday, November 19, 2021, at 11:37 p.m., Officer Dallas Gant issued a Special Complaint Summons to an adult female at the Deerhead Lake parking lot. Lauren Hartman, 30, was charged with Possessing/Inhaling a Toxic Chemical and released from custody. Hartman was charged with the same offense on November 20 by Officer Hyle while in the parking lot of Walmart.

Fraud- On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 9:44 p.m., Office Anthony Ravallo was dispatched to 7-Eleven, 524 Lacey Road. The store employee reported that a couple entered the store and purchased items valued at $35. Shortly thereafter, the employee realized that the bills were counterfeit. Video surveillance is being used to help identify the actors.

Fatal MVA- On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 7:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to Beach Boulevard for the report of a pedestrian struck. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 72 year-old Forked River man stepped into the lane of travel as he began to cross the road when he was struck. The driver, a 19 year-old male, was traveling west bound with his juvenile sister as a passenger when the accident occurred. Speed does not appear to be a contributing factor to the accident.

Lacey Township EMS and RWJ Paramedics responded to the scene. As a result of injuries sustained during the accident, the victim succumbed to his injuries while enroute to the hospital. The driver and passenger were not injured during the accident and denied medical attention.

The collision remains under investigation by Sergeant George Resetar and Patrolman Michael Baldasari. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit also participated in the investigation.
