Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Township News – Lacey Police Dept/Lacey Recreation Dept – Lacey Middle School Speedball Tournament – Tonight at 6:00 p.m.
The Lacey Township Recreation Department has organized a speedball tournament for Lacey Township Middle School students (7th and 8th grade only). The event is being held at the Lacey Township Middle School Gymnasium this evening, April 20, 2018, with a check-in time of 6:00 p.m. The tournament will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Lacey Township Recreation Department and the Lacey Municipal Alliance have arranged for refreshments and giveaways at the event. In addition, the Lacey Municipal Police Foundation has purchased team t-shirts for all participants. The team t-shirts have been purchased in varying colors; therefore, each team will have their own color. The event is free of charge. The speedball registration form may include an individual student's name, a few names, or may list all of the names comprising a full team (forms available at the Lacey Township Middle School and the Lacey Township Recreation Department). Students may be grouped into full teams as needed on the night of the speedball event. Lacey Township Police Officers have volunteered for the event and will serve as coaches, referees, and assistants. This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to interact with police officers in a positive manner. Township News – Lacey Township Police Department – Gille Park Skate Park Evening Event – This Friday, April 20th, 2018
*** Gille Park Skate Park Evening Events Making a Return This Friday, April 20, 2018 *** In the fall of 2016, the Lacey Township Police Department partnered with the Lacey Township Recreation Department, the Lacey Municipal Alliance, and the Lacey Municipal Police Foundation, to open the Gille Park Skate Park, for Lacey Township residents, every other Friday evening in both the Spring and Fall. The events started in August 2016, and continued through last year. I am very happy to announce that the Gille Park Skate Park Evening Events, also known as "Friday Night Lights" are making a return, beginning this Friday, April 20th, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. The skate park will be open from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 pm, with a live DJ playing music beginning at 7:00 p.m. Lighting will be provided by the Lacey Township Police Department with assistance from our local Fire Departments. In addition, the Lacey Township Police Department, the Lacey Township EMS and Lanoka Harbor EMS will be on scene. The April 20th event will also include a mobile gaming trailer provided by "Party Crashers" from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Age appropriate games will be available for the kids. Weekly Police Blotter - Press Release November 18th, 2014 thru November 24th, 2014 . . Sexual Assault (Arrest) - On Saturday, November 22, 2014, the Lacey Township Police Department began an investigation involving a reported sexual assault. The victim, an 18-year-old female, reported that while visiting a Cambridge Road home in Lanoka Harbor she was sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance. As the investigation continued, detectives from Lacey Township and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office executed a search warrant at the home on Monday, November 24, 2014. Detectives arrested 21-year-old James Schwartz, Jr. who was ultimately charged with sexual assault, possession of Marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia with bail being set at $50,000. James Schwartz, Jr. was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility where bail was posted for his release. Theft from a Vehicle - On Monday, November 24, 2014, at 3:26 p.m., a resident of Bay Avenue in Forked River responded to Lacey Township police headquarters to report a theft. The resident reported that between October and November of this year an unknown person or persons stole a full, 180 count, prescription bottle containing Diazapam from his vehicle. Weekly Police Blotter - Press Release November 11th, 2014 thru November 17th, 2014 . . DUI with Traffic Accident and Underage Consumption (Arrest) – On Monday, November 17, 2014, at 6:15 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the area of Lakeside Drive South and Taylor Lane (Lakeside Plaza) for a report of a traffic accident. The preliminary investigation at the scene determined that the driver of a vehicle, a 17-year-old female juvenile from Forked River, was traveling westbound on Lakeside Drive South when she drifted into the eastbound lane of Lakeside Drive South and struck another vehicle head on. Further investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the 17-year-old female driver for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released to her parent after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. In addition, the 17-year-old female was charged on a juvenile complaint with Underage Consumption of Alcohol. The vehicle the 17-year-old female was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. UPDATE (Arrest): Hit & Run MVA – Caffrey’s Tavern – Lacey Township Police Department
Arrest (Hit & Run MVA) - On Sunday, November 9, 2014, at 1:38 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the parking lot of Caffrey’s Tavern located at 440 Route 9 South in Forked River for a hit and run motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian struck. The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was observed backing into and striking an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot. A pedestrian in the parking lot witnessed the accident and attempted to stop the hit and run vehicle from leaving at which point the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle which then fled the scene. The 43-year-old male victim suffered minor injuries. The driver of the hit and run vehicle did not stop to check on the pedestrian and instead fled the scene. The vehicle was described as a black, 2000, Cadillac Eldorado with New York Registration GTS4740. The vehicle was registered to an unoccupied business in New York with no contact information available. On the morning of Wednesday, November 12, 2014, the suspect vehicle was located parked in the driveway of a residence on the 800 block of Anchor Drive in Forked River.
