  • DUI with Traffic Accident and Underage Consumption (Arrest) – On Monday, November 17, 2014, at 6:15 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the area of Lakeside Drive South and Taylor Lane (Lakeside Plaza) for a report of a traffic accident. The preliminary investigation at the scene determined that the driver of a vehicle, a 17-year-old female juvenile from Forked River, was traveling westbound on Lakeside Drive South when she drifted into the eastbound lane of Lakeside Drive South and struck another vehicle head on. Further investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the 17-year-old female driver for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released to her parent after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. In addition, the 17-year-old female was charged on a juvenile complaint with Underage Consumption of Alcohol. The vehicle the 17-year-old female was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. There were no injuries reported.

  • Robbery – On Monday, November 17, 2014, at 9:48 a.m., Officers Kymberly Gudgeon and Robert Flynn responded to Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor in reference to two subjects reportedly fighting outside the store. It was later learned that a male shoplifter had stolen items and tried to flee the store by forcing his way by a loss prevention officer. A witness observed the incident and physically detained the suspect until the police arrived on scene. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 22-year-old Patrick Newman of Riverside Drive in Bayville, New Jersey for Robbery. The loss prevention officer reported that he observed Patrick Newman concealing approximately $287 worth of DVD’s in his shirt and then attempting to leave the store through a fire exit. The loss prevention officer stood in front of the exit and Patrick Newman physically forced the loss prevention officer out of his way. Patrick Newman attempted to get to his vehicle but was stopped by a witness in the parking lot of Walmart. Patrick Newman was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. Officers also seized drug paraphernalia including four hypodermic syringes, a bottle cap with cotton balls, and a wax fold. Patrick Newman was charged with robbery and theft on a warrant with bail set at $100,000. Patrick Newman was also charged on a criminal summons with Possession of Hypodermic Syringes and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Patrick Newman was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

  • Theft – On Monday, November 17, 2014, at 3:00 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the Lacey Mall, located at 348 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for two reported thefts of cooking oil. The complainants reported that between November 15, 2014 and November 17, 2014, an unknown person or persons broke the cooking oil drum locks located outside behind the rear of China King and Schiano’s Restaurant and stole cooking oil with a total value of $500. The damage to both locks is estimated at $10.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Monday, November 17, 2014, at 12:12 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Trenton Avenue North in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 30-year-old Kristopher Rose of Scarlet Court in Toms River, New Jersey for DUI. Kristopher Rose was transported to police headquarters, processed, served with traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Speeding. The vehicle Kristopher Rose was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 11:05 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno was on patrol when he observed 33-year-old Christopher Schumacher of Lawrence Drive in Manahawkin, New Jersey outside a residence located on Station Drive in Forked River. Christopher Schumacher was known to have an outstanding $196 Barnegat Township Municipal Court Traffic Warrant. Christopher Schumacher was placed under arrest and transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting the full bail.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 12:20 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 600 block of Windsor Street in Forked River for a motor vehicle accident. It was reported that a vehicle traveling down the roadway struck a parked vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 41-year-old John Earp Jr. of Brentwood Road in Forked River for DUI. John Earp Jr. was transported to police headquarters, processed, and served with traffic summonses for DUI, Refusal to Submit to Breath Samples and Reckless Driving. The vehicle John Earp Jr., was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, November 14, 2014 at 11:11 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 North near Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 62-year-old William Lowe of 3rd Street in Waretown, New Jersey for DUI. William Lowe was transported to police headquarters, processed, served with traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Speeding. The vehicle William Lowe was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, November 14, 2014, at 8:18 p.m., Officer John McKee conducted a traffic stop on Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 42-year-old Nicola M. McCann of Ship Avenue in Beachwood, New Jersey for an outstanding Freehold Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $228. Nicola McCann was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was released after posting bail.

  • House Fire – On Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 10:44 a.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to the 300 block of Paradise Point Way in Forked River for a stove fire. Upon arrival, Officer Pearce determined that the fire was contained to the stove; however, the residence was filled with smoke. The Forked River Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire and assist with ventilating the house. The Ocean County Fire Marshal responded to investigate.

  • Theft from a Vehicle – On Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 8:20 a.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to the 400 block of Elwood Street in Forked River in reference to a theft. The victim reported that during the evening hours of November 12, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a laptop computer and black roller case. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence. The total theft is estimated at $750.

  • Aggravated Assault and Hit and Run Accident (Arrest) – On Sunday, November 9, 2014, at 1:38 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the parking lot of Caffrey’s Tavern located at 440 Route 9 South in Forked River for a hit and run motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian struck. The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was observed backing into and striking an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot. A pedestrian in the parking lot witnessed the accident and attempted to stop the hit and run vehicle from leaving at which point the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle which then fled the scene. The 43-year-old male victim suffered minor injuries. The driver of the hit and run vehicle did not stop to check on the pedestrian and instead fled the scene. The vehicle was described as a black, 2000, Cadillac Eldorado with New York Registration GTS4740. The vehicle was registered to an unoccupied business in New York with no contact information available. On the morning of Wednesday, November 12, 2014, the suspect vehicle was located parked in the driveway of a residence on the 800 block of Anchor Drive in Forked River. Lieutenant Michael DiBella and Sergeant Vincent Meehan responded to the residence and confirmed the vehicle was parked unoccupied in the driveway. Officer Frederick Anderson also responded. After receiving no response at the residence, the vehicle was impounded. An investigation by the uniformed officers led to the identification and arrest of 56-year-old Andrew P. Kelly with a last known address of Parkdale Drive in Farmingdale, New York for his involvement in the hit and run motor vehicle accident. The investigation revealed that Andrew P. Kelly was temporarily staying at the residence on Anchor Drive. During the late afternoon hours of Wednesday, November 12, 2014, Andrew P. Kelly was located on Anchor Drive and arrested by Sergeant Meehan and Officer Anderson. He was transported to the Lacey Township Police Department and processed. Andrew P. Kelly was charged with Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon (motor vehicle) with bail set at $25,000. Andrew Kelly was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail. He was also issued traffic summonses for Driving with a Suspended License, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Failing to Report an Accident.

  • Drug Possession & Distribution (Arrests) – On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 4, 2014, Lacey Detectives witnessed several suspicious transactions between pedestrians and the occupants of a vehicle. After witnessing the second transaction, detectives secured the pedestrian, Michelle Lacour, 24, of Forked River. As the investigation continued, Lacour was found in possession of Heroin that was purchased from the vehicle’s driver. As the vehicle stopped at an Earie Way residence, the rear seat passenger exited the vehicle. Detectives approached the vehicle and identified themselves, and the driver of the vehicle, Brian Hennessy, 26, of Forked River, sped away with a second passenger. As the vehicle fled, it cut across the lawn of several residences. The patrol division located the vehicle parked several blocks away from Hennessy’s residence a short time later. Brian Hennessy and his passenger, Gabriella Terrill, 24, of Forked River were arrested at Hennessy’s home without further incident. Brian Hennessy of 2007 Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River was charged with Possession of Heroin, Distribution of Heroin, and Eluding. Brian Hennessy was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash bail. Gabriella Terrill of 508 Nantucket Road in Forked River and Michelle Lacour of 822 Devon Street in Forked River were charged with Possession of Heroin.
