Drug Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Arrest) – At 2:05 a.m., Saturday morning, January 11, 2014, Patrol Officer Michael Verwey stopped a 2008 Nissan Altima for speeding and failure to maintain a lane on Route 9 near Game Farm Road in Forked River. While speaking with the driver, 35-year-old Dametrious R. Summers, Officer Verwey detected the distinct odor of marijuana. Continuing investigation led to a consent search of the vehicle and the discovery of packaged marijuana consistent with distribution. Three individually wrapped clear bags containing marijuana were found in the trunk of the vehicle. The vehicle’s registered owner and operator, 35-year-old Dametrious R. Summers of 117 South MLK Boulevard in Atlantic City, was placed under arrest. Dametrious R. Sumners was charged with Possession of more than 50 grams of Marijuana as well as Possession with the Intent to Distribute CDS. Dametrious Sumners was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility with bail set at $25,000. The vehicle was impounded for potential forfeiture. Investigation is continuing into the location in Lacey Township where the CDS was to be delivered.
