Public Announcement – Now that the season for fireworks is upon us and everyone is looking forward to the Lacey Township fireworks display scheduled for Wednesday, July 3rd, it is important to remember that the possession or use of fireworks by the public is illegal. To maintain the safety and peace of the community, the Lacey Township Police Department will be strictly enforcing the state laws related to illegal fireworks. Anyone found to be in possession of fireworks or involved in the discharge of fireworks will be charged with the state statute, N.J.S.A. 21:3-2, and will be required to appear in municipal court. The Lacey Township Police Department has responded to more than 500 complaints from residents of illegal fireworks over the past three summers and the number of incidents has increased from year to year. Efforts are being made this summer to reverse that trend.
