Robbery – On Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 4:44 a.m., the overnight shift clerk at the 7-11 convenience store located at 524 Lacey Road in Forked River reported a robbery. The clerk reported that a male wearing black clothing and a black ski mask entered the store and mumbled a statement regarding money to the female clerk. After receiving some cash from the clerk, he was reported to have left the store on foot in an unknown direction. No weapon was reported to have been shown or threatened during the reported incident. Video depicts a man with a thin to medium build, near 6 foot tall, wearing all black clothing and tan boots. The man entered the store wearing the black ski mask and calmly approached the counter. The clerk placed money on the counter and the subject took a portion of the money leaving money behind on the counter. He then calmly walked out of the store. There were no threats reported and no weapon was involved in this incident. There is no information at this time as to how the subject left the scene thereafter. Once police were called, a search was conducted of the area with negative results.
Detective Robert Surtees of the Lacey Township Police Department responded to the scene. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) responded to assist with processing the scene and an OCSD K-9 Unit responded at the time to assist with a search of the immediate area.
