Fraud (Senior Alert) – On Friday, February 22, 2013, an elderly resident of the Forked River Beach area reported that she received a telephone call that she believed was a scam. The caller identified himself as “Johnny Black” and told her she had won $300,000. The fraudulent caller advised her of a procedure to collect the winnings that first required her to send him $350.00. She also was told that failure to comply would result in him calling the IRS on her.
