Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary and Criminal Mischief – On Monday, August 3, 2015, at 6:46 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the Lacey Diner, located at 530 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report that during the overnight hours, an unknown person attempted to force entry into the rear of the building by attempting to pry open the rear door of the diner. The door was not forced open and entry was not gained. The damage to the door is valued at $500. The suspect is described as a white male in his late thirties or early forties, approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall, with a thin build, and dark bushy hair. He was last seen wearing dark pants, a light-colored, button down shirt with dark stripes on it, and carrying a yellow backpack. He was also in possession of a dark-colored mountain bike with a large style seat. - Burglary and Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, August 2, 2015, at 2:11 a.m., Officers Anthony Sarno and Patrick Watkins responded to the Lanoka Farms located at 615 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a burglary. The owner reported that just prior to contacting this agency, he and another employee arrived at Lanoka Farms to make a delivery and observed a male subject with a bicycle inside the foyer area of the business. The male subject observed him and fled the business running north toward Laurel Boulevard. Officers responded and checked the area for the suspect with negative results. An investigation at the scene revealed the lock on the front door of the business was broken and entry was gained. Damage is estimated at $50. Nothing was believed to have been stolen. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 foot 1 inch tall with a blond or gray ponytail hair style. Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Monday, August 3, 2015, at 4:48 p.m., Officer Brian Holt conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Town Square located at 1 Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 34-year-old Ignacio Velasquez of Adolphus Street in Forked River, for possession of Marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Shoplifting – On Monday, August 3, 2015, at 4:24 p.m., Officers Daniel Ricciardella and Christopher Meyler responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for two female juvenile shoplifters. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a 15-year-old female from Barnegat, NJ, and a 15-year-old female from Forked River for shoplifting merchandise valued at approximately $150. The females were transported to police headquarters and processed. Each was charged on a juvenile complaint with shoplifting.

Theft of Property Lost or Mislaid by Mistake – On Monday, August 3, 2015, at 1:49 p.m., Officer Christopher Meyler responded to police headquarters for a theft report. The victim reported that between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 1, 2015, she accidentally left her black iPhone 6 cellular phone and cellular phone case containing her driver’s license and credit cards, in the woman’s bathroom of the Wawa, located at 701 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor. When the victim realized she left her phone behind, she returned to Wawa, checked the bathroom, and attempted to locate it. The wallet was missing from the bathroom and was not turned in to any of the employees. The value of the property is estimated at $650.

Theft – On Sunday, August 2, 2015, at 8:44 a.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to the 1000 block of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The complainant reported that between 3:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2015, an unknown person or persons stole her paddle board from the backyard of her residence. The residence has a bulkhead that has direct access to the Barnegat Bay. There were drag marks from the paddle board that led from her backyard to the water. The paddle board is valued at $800.

Theft from an Auto – On Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 5:39 a.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to the 1700 block of Sommerell Avenue in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported that during the overnight hours of Saturday, August 1, 2015, an unknown person or persons entered her vehicle and stole her Garmin Nuvi GPS valued at $150. The vehicle was unlocked and parked in the street at the time of the theft.

Warrant Arrest – On Friday, July 31, 2015, at 7:42 p.m., Officers Robert Duffy and Dimitri Tsarnas responded to the 200 block of Lakeside Drive in Forked River for a report of an unwanted guest. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 46-year-old William Karns of Lakeside Drive in Forked River on an outstanding Mount Holly Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $750. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. William Karns was released ROR by Mount Holly Municipal Court.

Theft – On Friday, July 31, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to the 1400 block of Leguene Avenue in Forked River for a theft report. The complainant reported that between 12:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on July 31, 2105, an unknown person or persons entered her fenced in backyard and stole her garden shears, rakes, and Ryobi weed-whacker with a total value of $300.

Drug Possession and Warrant (Arrest) – On Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 11:26 p.m., Officer Charles May conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a passenger, identified as 19-year-old Melody Smyers of Constitution Drive in Forked River, on two (2) outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued by the Lacey Township Municipal Court in the amount of $500; and warrant number two (2), a no-bail warrant, was issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office. Melody Smyers was found to be in possession of Heroin. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Hypodermic Syringes, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bail was set at $10,000. Melody Smyers was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.

Theft – On Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 6:13 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to Spring Oak Assisted Living, located at 601 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a theft report. The complainant reported that between May 9, 2015 and July 29, 2015, an unknown person or persons stole a bracelet valued at $1,400 from one of the residents. The incident is under investigation.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 2:35 p.m., Officer Kimberly Gudgeon responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 27-year-old Alyssa Ortiz of Longwood Drive in Forked River for shoplifting merchandise valued at $56. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged with Shoplifting.

Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 12:57 p.m., Officer Michael Hein and Special Officer Stephen DeRosa responded to Lacey Road and Newark Avenue in Forked River for a traffic accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of one of the drivers, identified as 37-year-old Linette Romeo of Circle Drive in Forked River, on two outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrants. Warrant number one was in the amount of $500; and warrant number two (2) was for $250.00. Linette Romeo was transported to police headquarters and processed. Full bail was posted and she was released.

Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 11:37 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of 711 Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 50-year-old James Connors of East Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor, for an outstanding Ocean County Sheriff’s Office warrant in the amount of $1,986. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 9:34 p.m., Sergeant Ronald Buxton, along with Officers Adam Ewart and Dimitri Tsarnas responded to the Kennis Walk walking path that leads from Maxim Drive to the Lacey Middle School for a report of two males yelling. Upon arrival, officers located one male and identified him as 27-year-old Eric D. Jablonski of Geneva Road in Lakehurst, NJ. An investigation revealed that he had an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500. Eric Jablonski was processed and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail. The second male was not located.
