  • Theft – On Monday, May 12, 2014, at 4:44 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to Taylor Lane in Forked River for a theft. The complainant reported that between November 1, 2013 and May 12, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole a red Roto Tiller (unknown make or model) valued at $300 from his backyard. In addition, the complainant reported that on May 8, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole a vehicle transmission (unknown what kind of vehicle the transmission belonged) valued at $800, that was also in the backyard.

  • Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Sunday, May 11, 2014, at 8:17 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson responded to the 200 block of Lane Place in Forked River for a damaged mailbox. The complainant reported that between 7:00 p.m. on May 10, 2014 and 7:30 a.m. on May 11, 2014, an unknown person or persons struck his mailbox with an unknown object causing damage valued at $100. Officer Anderson is investigating the incident and is attempting to identify three juveniles seen in front of the residence on May 10, 2014, at approximately 9:30 p.m. causing the damage to the mailbox.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, May 11, 2014, at 3:21 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Lake Barnegat Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 26-year-old Armando Quiroz-Martinez of Lacey Road in Forked River for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Armando Quiroz-Martinez was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Unlicensed Driver. In addition, the vehicle’s registered owner, identified as 21-year-old Beatriz Lopez-Reyes of Route 9 in Howell, NJ, was issued a traffic summons for allowing a DUI to operate her vehicle. She was a passenger in the vehicle during the traffic stop. The vehicle being operated was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, May 11, 2014, at 12:43 a.m., Officers Evan Androcy and Dimitri Tsarnas conducted a traffic stop from Bay Avenue to across Rt 9 into the parking lot of the Forked River Freezer located at 308 Route 9 South in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 38-year-old Theodore J. Hutler, 3rd of Forked River for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Theodore J. Hutler, 3rd was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, DUI Refusal, Reckless Driving, Failure to Observe a Stop Sign, Speeding, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Exhibit Required Documents. The vehicle being operated was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 11:29 p.m., Officers Dimitri Tsarnas and Evan Androcy conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 36-year-old Melissa O’Rourke of Dolan Street in Lanoka Harbor on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was issued by the Lacey Township Municipal Court in the amount of $600. Melissa O’Rourke was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was released by the court ROR pending a new court date.

  • Theft – On Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 6:55 p.m., Officer George Resetar responded to the 300 block of Beach Boulevard in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported that during the afternoon of May 10, 2014, while in the Lacey Shop Rite located at 348 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, an unknown person or persons stole approximately $275 in cash from her purse while in her shopping cart. Officer Resetar is continuing the investigation.

  • Theft – On Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 3:40 p.m., Officer John D. Simonson responded to the 200 block of Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor for a report of theft. The victim reported that earlier in the day, her daughter’s bicycle described as a pink Huffy Cranbrook valued at $150.00 was stolen from the driveway.

  • Municipal Ordinance Violation (Formal Summons) – On Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 2:05 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban responded to the 1200 block of Taylor Lane in Forked River for a complaint of open burning in the backyard. Upon arrival, Special Officer Urban observed a 55-gallon steel drum with flames emitting from it. In addition, the open burn fire was unattended and the homeowner did not have an open burn permit. As a result, the homeowner, identified as 47-year-old Patrick Nascimento of Taylor Lane in Forked River, was issued a Complaint Summons for the open burn violation.

  • Suspicious Incident – On Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 12:21 p.m., Officer John Cernek responded to the 1200 block of Spruce Street in Forked River for a suspicious incident. The resident stated that she received a letter in the mail from “Global Capital Investment Inc” claiming that she had won $650,000 in the “International Money Sweepstakes.” Along with the letter was a check made payable to her in the amount of approximately $5,000 to help her cover the costs of taxes, insurance, and shipping fees. The check was to be deposited in her bank account and the funds forwarded to a different location. The resident contacted her bank who informed her it was a scam and to call the police. The letter was postmarked from Canada and the check was listed as drawn on Comercia Bank – Texas, Comstock Oil and Gas, LP Account.

  • Driving While Suspended (Arrest) – On Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 11:11 a.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 67-year-old Francis Burke of Ensign Avenue in Beachwood, NJ, for Driving While Suspended during a suspension period for multiple prior DUI convictions. Francis Burke was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was charged on a criminal summons for the fourth degree criminal violation and released pending a court appearance. In addition, Francis Burke received two traffic summonses, one for Driving While Suspended and a second violation for Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 8:45 p.m., Officer Charles May conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Vaughn Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 46-year-old Mark McGinley of Village Drive in Barnegat, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Mark McGinley was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Signal, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Utilizing a Cell Phone while Driving. The vehicle Mark McGinley was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Overdose/Lifesaving Efforts – On Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 10:37 p.m., Officers Darrell Nick, Julie Barcalow, and Adam Ewart responded to a Forked River Residence for a report of a 31-year-old male having a suspected heroin overdose. Upon arrival, the male was unresponsive. Life saving efforts were started including the utilization of Naloxone (Narcan). After the utilization of two Naloxone kits, the male subject regained consciousness and began breathing on his own. The Lacey Township EMS and Monoc Paramedics also responded to the scene. The male subject was transported to Community Medical Center for further treatment. No charges have been filed nor are any pending pursuant to the restrictions of the Overdose Prevention Act.

  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 11:40 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 1200 block of Ocean Street in Forked River for criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between 11:40 p.m. on May 6, 2014, and 11:30 a.m. on May 7, 2014, an unknown person or persons “keyed” the front driver’s side door of her vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. The damage is estimated at $200.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 11:16 a.m., Officer Peter Donahue met with Lacey Police Detectives Alan Abrecht and Samuel Della Sala on the 600 block of Twin River Drive in Forked River in reference to a warrant issued from the United States Military. Upon arrival, the accused, 27-year-old Brian M. Kornse of Twin River Drive in Forked River, was arrested and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

  • Theft – On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 8:57 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the intersection of Lakeside Drive South and Arient Road in Forked River for a theft. An unknown person or persons stole the 350 pound cast iron catch basin from the side of the road. The catch basin is valued at approximately $300.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 7:49 p.m., Officer Peter Donahue responded to the 600 block of Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River to serve an NCIC warrant out of the State of Virginia. Upon arrival, Officer Peter Donahue arrested 43-year-old Wayne White of Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River on an outstanding no bail NCIC warrant issued from the State of Virginia for a probation violation. Wayne White was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await extradition to Virginia.

  • Suspicious Fire – On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 11:55 a.m., Officers Scott Keefe and Robert Flynn responded to the CVS located at 700 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a rear fence on fire. Two males, possibly juveniles, were observed fleeing the area in a small light blue pickup truck prior to the officers’ arrival. The Lanoka Harbor Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire consisting of a few sections of wooden fence. Lacey Police Detective Brian Flynn responded and is investigating.
