  • Robbery (Business)  – On Monday, March 31, 2014, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Lacey Township Police Department responded to the Country Farms store, located at 336 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of a robbery. The investigation revealed that a male subject entered the store and confronted the employee with a knife and demanded money. The employee did not provide the money and the suspect soon fled on foot toward Briggs Avenue North in Forked River. The suspect is described as being a white male, in his late teens to early twenties, approximately 5 foot 8, with a stocky build and dark hair. There were no reported injuries. Both the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit and Criminalistics Investigation Unit responded to the scene to assist. As of the time of this release the investigation is on-going.   • Warrant (Arrest) – On Monday, March 31, 2014, at 4:42 p.m., Officer Michael Hein met with 28-year-old Jessica Perez of Tappan Street in Forked River in regard to a motor vehicle incident which occurred earlier. While Officer Hein was investigating the motor vehicle incident, Jessica Perez was found to have an outstanding warrant issued from the Aberdeen Township Municipal Court in the amount of $114. Jessica Perez was arrested on the warrant. She posted full bail and was released.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Monday, March 31, 2014, at 2:28 p.m., Officer John Simonson responded to the Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a male, juvenile shoplifter in custody. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a 16-year-old male juvenile from Forked River for shoplifting merchandise valued at $508.56. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. The juvenile male was charged on a juvenile complaint with shoplifting and released to the custody of his parent.

  • Criminal Mischief to a Vehicle – On Monday, March 31, 2014, at 12:48 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the 1600 block of Beverly Road in Forked River for criminal mischief to a vehicle. The complainant reported that between 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014 and 7:00 a.m. on March 31, 2014, an unknown person or persons spray-painted the word “Elite” on his vehicle in black spray-paint while it was parked in the driveway of his residence. The cost to remove the paint is estimated at $500.

  • Criminal Mischief to a Residence –  On Monday, March 31, 2014, at 11:09 a.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the 1600 block of Joffre Road in Forked River for criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014, and 10:45 a.m. on March 31, 2014, an unknown person or persons spray-painted the words “Elite Squad HAA!!!” on the side of his garage in black spray-paint. The cost to remove the paint is estimated at $250.

  • Criminal Mischief to a Vehicle – On Monday, March 31, 2014, at 10:59 a.m., Officer John Simonson responded to Municipal Lane in Forked River for criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between Saturday, March 29, 2014, and Monday, March 31, 2014, an unknown person or persons dented the passenger side door of his 2000 International Truck while it was parked in the parking lot. The damage is estimated at $200.

  • DUI with Accident and Underage Consumption of Alcohol (Arrest) – On Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 2:27 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Lake Barnegat Drive North in Lanoka Harbor for a traffic accident with injuries. Upon arrival, officers determined it was a one vehicle accident involving four (4) occupants. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 21-year-old Darren J. MacGillivray Jr. of Forrest Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Stop. The vehicle’s passengers, identified as 20-year-old Thomas A. Prosser of Warren Avenue in Lanoka Harbor; 18-year-old Gregory J. Fenton of Dugout Drive in Lanoka Harbor; and 18-year-old Miranda L. Holsten of I street in Seaside Park, NJ, were all later charged on a Special Complaint and Summons with Underage Consumption of Alcohol. As a result of the crash, one of the passengers sustained minor injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment by Lanoka Harbor EMS. The vehicle Darren MacGillivray Jr. was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Fireworks (Formal Charge) – On Friday, March 28, 2014, at 9:33 p.m., Officer Charles May observed fireworks coming from the area of Weehawkin Avenue and Tappan Street in Forked River. Officer May investigated and determined that the fireworks were coming from a residence located on the 700 block of Tappan Street. Officer May met with the homeowner identified as 35-year-old Dean A. MacGillivray, Jr., who was ultimately charged on a Special Complaint and Summons with Possession of Fireworks.

  • Theft by Deception (Arrest) – On Friday, March 28, 2014, at 9:24 p.m., Officer Adam Ewart responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. An investigation revealed that earlier in the day 29-year-old Sara M. Stephens of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor entered the store and removed merchandise and placed it into her shopping cart. Sara Stephens then went to the Customer Service Counter and returned the same merchandise valued at $65. Sara Stephens received a store gift card for the return and left the store. Officer Ewart completed his investigation and responded to the residence of Sara Stephens. Sara Stephens was arrested for theft and transported to police headquarters. She was processed and released after receiving a criminal summons for Theft by Deception.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, March 28, 2014, at 3:28 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to 629 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a traffic accident. Investigation at the scene revealed that one of the drivers, identified as 32-year-old Brittany Bryant of Beverly Beach Road in Brick, NJ, had an outstanding warrant from the Brick Township Municipal Court in the amount of $500. Brittany Bryant was arrested on the warrant and transported to police headquarters. She was processed and released after posting bail.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, March 28, 2014, at 9:06 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a traffic stop on Devon Street near Newark Avenue in Forked River. Officer Anthony Sarno responded to assist. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 38-year-old Michael C. Micliz of Spruce Street in Forked River on an outstanding warrant issued by the Toms River Township Municipal Court in the amount of $240. In addition, the passenger, identified as 24-year-old Janelle Whitfield of Tolerance Court in Toms River, NJ, was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued from the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department in the amount of $50,000 with no 10 percent option. They were both transported to police headquarters. Michael Micliz was processed and released after posting bail. Janelle Whitfield was later turned over to the custody of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department.

  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 5:08 p.m., Officer Peter Donahue responded to the 1200 block of Lakeside Drive South in Forked River for a burglary. The complainant reported that between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on March 27, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered her residence and stole jewelry valued at $200 along with a 32 inch LG flat screen television valued at $500. There were no signs of forced entry and the incident is under investigation.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 2:38 p.m., Lieutenant Christopher Kenny, Sergeant Paul Sullivan Jr., and Officer Robert Flynn responded to Auto-Zone, located at 319 Route 9 North in Forked River for a male shoplifter who fled from the store in a vehicle after pushing an employee. A description of the accused along with a description of the vehicle and registration were provided. The vehicle’s registration identified a residence located on the 1300 block of Wickford Lane in Lanoka Harbor. Lt. Kenny and Sgt. Sullivan responded to Auto-Zone while Officer Flynn responded to the residence and located the vehicle. Officer Flynn met with the accused, identified as 35-year-old David Krempa of Wickford Lane in Lanoka Harbor. He was arrested, processed, charged with shoplifting, and released. The incident is under continuing investigation and additional criminal charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 11:01 p.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 South near Station Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 20-year-old Nikki L. Buck of Coral Lane in Manahawkin, NJ, for DUI. Nikki Buck was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Exhibit a Valid Insurance Card. The vehicle Nikki Buck was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Criminal Mischief (Boat) – On Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 6:20 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the Lanoka Harbor Marina located at 888 Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor for damage to a boat. The complainant reported that within the prior two week period, an unknown person or persons damaged a window screen and custom blinds on the boat while it was dry-docked at the marina. The complainant reported that there did not appear to be anything missing from the boat. Approximately $300 in damage was caused to a window screen and custom-made blinds. The incident is under investigation.

  • Theft from a Boat – On Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 9:20 a.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the Lanoka Harbor Marina, located at 888 Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor, for a theft. The complainant reported that he received information that on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at approximately 7 p.m., two subjects, possibly juveniles, were observed on his boat that was dry-docked at the marina. The complainant reported that he responded to the marina to check his boat and discovered that four (4) “Ugly Stick” fishing poles valued at $150 each, along with a pair of Binoculars valued at $100 were stolen from the boat. The total theft is estimated at $700. The incident is under investigation.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Officer Frederick Anderson conducted a traffic stop on Alpine Street near Newark Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger, 25-year-old John R. Knoeller Jr., on an outstanding warrant issued from the Toms River Township Municipal Court in the amount of $145. John Knoeller Jr., was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after posting bail.

  • Fraud – On Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 1:37 p.m., Officer Frederick Anderson responded to Midnite Towing (Lacey Amoco), 341 Route 9 North in Forked River for a fraud report. The owner reported that prior to contacting this agency, an unknown male contacted the Midnite Towing phone line and identified himself as Tom Jenkins from JCP&L. The male subject advised that Midnite Towing was in default of $489.62 for payment owed for two months of electric service and if it was not paid immediately the service would be turned off. The caller advised the owner to go and get a Green Money-pack in the amount of $400 for immediate payment and provided a phone number to be contacted in order to pay the bill. A claim number was also provided. The owner looked into the incident and learned that his account was in good standing and the incident was a scam. Detective Robert Surtees is conducting the investigation.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 12:22 p.m., Officer John Simonson responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a female shoplifter in custody. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 28-year-old Jennine P. Lizer of Predmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for shoplifting merchandise in the amount of $50.14. The shoplifting incident occurred on March 21, 2014. The accused was an employee of Walmart and was confronted by Loss Prevention on March 25, 2014. Jennine Lizer was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.
