Multiple Incidents of Shoplifting (Warrant Arrest) – On January 23, 2014, at 5:04 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to Kohl’s, 304 Route 9 North, in Forked River, for a shoplifting incident and learned of an unrelated, ongoing shoplifting scheme. Officer Keefe received information regarding multiple incidents involving an adult male, later identified as 29-year-old Adam Tanner of Pointe Circle in Jackson, NJ. Adam Tanner had reportedly returned clothing to the Lacey Kohl’s store without a receipt on three separate occasions, including January 20th, 21st and 23rd, 2014. During each visit to the store and after returning the clothing, Adam Tanner was reportedly observed shoplifting various electronic devices including Sol Republic headphones, N-Ergy Ear-buds and N-Tune Headphones, totaling approximately $669. An arrest warrant for shoplifting was issued for Adam Tanner. Bail was set at $10,000. On Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 9:33 a.m., Officers Anderson and Simonson responded to Kohl’s for a report of a shoplifting incident involving a male subject later identified as Adam Tanner. Kohl’s reported that the male subject fled the store on foot and ran into the woods toward Shop Rite after concealing headphones on his person and attempting to leave the store with them. When confronted, he reportedly dropped the headphones and fled. Kohl’s provided a description for the subject along with his name. Adam Tanner was later located near Route 9 and Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River. He was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from Kohl’s valued at $149.99, along with the outstanding $10,000 warrant. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Adam Tanner was charged on a warrant with shoplifting. His bail was set at $5,000. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional facility in default of $15,000 bail.

Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Monday, January 27, 2014, at 9:44 p.m., Officers Robert Duffy and Evan Androcy observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the dark at the Trestle located near Cedar Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. The officers located two people in the vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger, 18-year-old Frank J. Losardo of Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Frank Losardo was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Theft (Business) and Criminal Mischief – On Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 4:58 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to “The Furniture Source,” 512 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a theft. The owner reported that between 4:30 p.m. on January 22, 2014, and 9:00 a.m. on January 25, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole the coils from the four outside air conditioner compressors. The four outside air compressor units were located in the rear of the building. The theft and damage done to the commercial units was estimated at $50,000 by the building owner.

Shoplifting and Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Friday, January 24, 2014, at 5:38 p.m., Officers Scott Keefe and Peter Donahue responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North, in Lanoka Harbor, for a male shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 23-year-old Michael Mele of Sunnydale Court in Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $186. Further investigation revealed Michael Mele was in possession of heroin, a hypodermic syringe, and drug paraphernalia. Michael Mele was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was later released after receiving a Criminal Summons for Shoplifting, Possession of CDS (Heroin), Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, January 24, 2014, at 12:15 p.m., Special Officer Russell Moller responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Williams Avenue and Tappan Street in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 33-year-old Anthony Rocco of Earie Way in Forked River on an outstanding $250 South Brunswick warrant. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Anthony Rocco was later released after posting full bail.

Heroin Distribution (Search Warrant & Arrests) – Late Friday afternoon, January 24, 2014, Lacey Detectives executed a search warrant at 727 Briar Road in Lanoka Harbor, NJ. The warrant was sought during a narcotic investigation involving the distribution of heroin and prescription drugs. During the execution of the search warrant, the target ofthe investigation and Briar Road resident, 37-year-old Kirk Feinstein, was arrested after 82 bags containing heroin were located. Additionally, the search yielded other contraband including prescription medication known as Suboxone and Xanax. As a result of the investigation and the search warrant, Kirk Feinstein was charged with two counts of possession of heroin, two counts of distribution of heroin, and one count of possession with the intent to distribute heroin. Kirk Feinstein was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of $100,000 cash bail. Detectives also arrested 18-year-old Tiffany Remington of Belmar who was present at the residence at the time of the search warrant execution. Tiffany Remington was charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia. An additional arrest was made at the scene when 38-year-old Scott Speck of Waretown arrived at the scene and was found to be in possession of the prescription drug Suboxone. Both Tiffany Remington and Scott Speck were charged and released on their own recognizance pending a court appearance.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, January 24, 2014, at 1:09 a.m., Special Officer Travis Horton investigated a suspicious vehicle parked at the Wawa, 701 Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 30-year-old Richard Barlow of Puffin Glade in Bayville on two outstanding arrest warrants. One warrant was issued from Holmdel Municipal Court in the amount of $500 and the second warrant was issued from Ocean Gate Municipal Court in the amount of $478. Richard Barlow was also issued a traffic summons for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Richard Barlow was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was later transferred to the custody of the Holmdel Police Department.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 10:09 p.m., Officer John McKee and Special Officer Travis Horton responded to the 400 block of Lake Barnegat Drive in Forked River to serve an arrest warrant. Upon arrival of the officers, 20-year-old Erick C. Moore was taken into custody on a Lacey Township warrant in the amount of $750. Erick Moore was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was later released after posting full bail.

Shoplifting (Arrest Warrant Issued) – On Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 5:04 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to Kohl’s, 304 Route 9 North, in Forked River, to report a shoplifting incident not in progress. Upon arrival, he met with Loss Prevention. Officer Keefe was informed that on January 20, 2014 an adult female, later identified as 31-year-old Danielle Kwityn of Hovsons Boulevard in Toms River, reportedly shoplifted a Kitchen Aid appliance valued at $449. Later that day she attempted to return the Kitchen Aid appliance to the Brick Township Kohl’s, located at 644 Route 70 in Brick, NJ. As part of the transaction, the clerk at the Brick Kohl’s asked her for her driver’s license. That driver’s license provided positive identification. Danielle Kwityn was advised she was only going to receive store credit. As a result, the exchange did not occur and Danielle Kwityn left the store with the appliance. The Lacey Kohl’s was contacted. A warrant for Shoplifting at the Lacey Kohl’s has been issued for Danielle Kwityn’s arrest. Bail has been set at $1,500.

Theft – On Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 2:01 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban responded to West Lacey Road near the VFW for a theft report. The complainant and owner of CME Associates stated that between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. on January 23, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole a surveying tripod valued at $500 that was left on the side of Lacey Road approximately a half a mile west of the VFW. The complainant stated that they were surveying the area and had left for a short time when the theft occurred.

Arrest on Out-of-State Warrant (Hawaii) – On Thursday evening, January 23, 2014, while conducting an investigation into suspected drug activity at 2006 Brookdale Drive in the Pheasant Run section of Forked River, Patrol Officer Peter Donahue located 27-year-old Dillon Dittenhofer living at the residence. Dillon Dittenhofer was known to be wanted in the NCIC system with an extraditable warrant out of Honolulu, Hawaii. The warrant was listed as being based on two counts of “Dangerous Drugs in the 3rd Degree” under the state laws of Hawaii. Officer Donahue arrested Dillon Dittenhofer at the residence. The customary procedure for an extradition involves lodging the arrestee in the county jail until a legal process is completed so the out-of-state authority can arrange for transportation of the arrestee back to that state. Although the Hawaiian authorities initially confirmed the extradition, once arrested and at police headquarters, the Hawaiian authorities decided to release Dittenhofer on his own recognizance.

Attempted Burglary and Criminal Mischief – On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at 10:40 a.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to JR’s Liquors, 1000 Lacey Road in Forked River, in reference to an attempted burglary. The owner reported that between Saturday, January 11, 2014, and Tuesday, January 21, 2014, an unknown person or persons attempted to gain entry into the business. Several pry marks were discovered around the rear entrance door handle and lock. The door was also bent outward. Damage is estimated at $1,600 to replace the door.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at 9:35 a.m., Officers John Simonson and Officer Anthony Sarno responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a female shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 39-year-old Donna Shaffery of Commodore Court in Barnegat for shoplifting merchandise valued at $254. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Donna Shaffery was later released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.
