• Warrants (Arrest) – On Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at 3:25 a.m., Officers George Resetar and Alan Abrecht, responded to the 400 block of Sinclair Avenue, in Lanoka Harbor, to assist Berkeley Township Police Department with a separate investigation. While assisting Berkeley Police at the residence, several warrants were located for 29-year-old Anthony Fattaruso, of Lanoka Harbor who was present at the residence. The outstanding failure-to-appear warrants were as follows: (1) Manchester Municipal Court in the amount of $408; (2) Manchester Municipal Court in the amount of $519; (3) Lacey Township Municipal Court for $500; and (4) Barnegat Township Municipal Court for $500. Anthony Fattaruso was arrested on all four warrants and lodged at the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,927 bail.
• Theft from a Residence (Garage) – On Thursday, December 26, 2013, at 7:29 a.m., a resident of Arborridge Drive in Forked River reported a theft of alcoholic beverages from the garage of the residence. The complainant reported that between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 25, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered the unlocked garage and stole several bottles of alcoholic beverages that were in the refrigerator within the garage. The theft is estimated at $570.
• Theft from a Vehicle and Bank Card Fraud – On Thursday, December 26, 2013, at 12:05 p.m., a resident of Lanoka Harbor contacted the Lacey Township Police Department from the TD Bank, 106 Route 9 North in Forked River, to report a theft and fraud incident. The victim reported that between Friday, December 13, 2013 and Monday, December 16, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered his vehicle while it was parked on the 600 block of Predmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor and stole his wallet containing items including but not limited to a TD Bank debit card. The victim learned of the theft when several fraudulent charges appeared on his debit card statement. The total theft is still under investigation.
• Warrants (Arrest) – On Thursday, December 26, 2013, at 6:38 p.m., Officers Julie Barcalow and Daniel Ricciardella conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 South near Beach Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 23-year-old Dina N. Kilani, of Toms River, NJ, for multiple arrest warrants. The failure-to-appear warrants out of the Ocean Township (Waretown) Municipal Court were as follows: (1) $500.00; (2) $250; and (3) $250.00. Dina Kilani was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released after posting full bail. She was also issued a traffic summons for driving with a suspended driver’s license.
• Trespassing and Criminal Mischief (Township Property) – On Thursday, December 26, 2013, at 1:49 p.m., a Lacey Township Recreation Department employee reported criminal mischief within the Gille Park Skate-Park located at 56 Manchester Avenue, Forked River. Just prior to contacting the police department, the Lacey Township Recreation Department employee located several subjects inside the “closed” skate-park, however, most of them ran away when they observed the employee. In addition to the trespassing incident, the fence was found to be purposely cut resulting in $150 in damage. The incident is under investigation by Officer Adam Ewart and criminal charges are pending.
• Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Thursday, December 26, 2013, at 10:30 p.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Caldwell Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 25-year-old Edwin Calva of Bradley Beach, NJ, for possession of Marijuana. Edwin Calva was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was later released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana. In addition, he received traffic summonses for Improper Maintenance of Lights and Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.
• DUI and CDS (Arrest) – On Thursday, December 27, 2013 at 1:49 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 near Murray Grove Lane in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 30-year-old Angelo Scalzo of Lanoka Harbor, for DUI and possession of Marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Angelo Scalzo was later released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, Angelo Scalzo was issued traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle Angelo Scalzo was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
• Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Friday, December 27, 2013, at 7:37 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe was dispatched to the 1400 block of Jay Street in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief. The homeowner stated that between 7:20 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013, an unknown person or persons used fireworks to destroy the mailbox in front of the residence. Damage is estimated at $50.
• Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Friday, December 27, 2013 at 7:35 p.m., a resident of the 1500 block of Claire Road in Forked River reported criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013, an unknown person or persons slashed an 11 foot tall, blow up snowman decoration on the front lawn of the residence. Replacement is estimated at $50.
• Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Friday, December 27, 2013 at 8:36 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the 500 block of Hardwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of a residence. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 18-year-old Kyle Donnelly of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River and a 17-year-old juvenile male from Lanoka Harbor for smoking Marijuana in the vehicle. Both were transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The juvenile was released to his mother on a juvenile complaint and Kyle Donnelly was released on a criminal summons.
• Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Friday, December 27, 2013, at 10:31 p.m., Officer Robert Flynn conducted a traffic stop on Lane Place near Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male juvenile driver for possession of Marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters and charged on a juvenile complaint with Possession of Marijuana. He was later released to his mother. In addition, the 17-year-old male driver received motor vehicle summonses for Failure to Yield and Possessing CDS in a Motor Vehicle. An additional pouch of suspect “synthetic” Marijuana was sent to the lab for further analysis.
• DUI and Underage Possession of Alcohol (Arrests) – On Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 12:50 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 18-year-old Steven Prezwodek of Forked River, for DUI. Steven Prezwodek was transported to police headquarters and processed. A 15-year-old male juvenile passenger from Forked River was also arrested for underage possession/consumption of alcohol. He was later released to his parents after being charged on a juvenile complaint with Underage Possession of Alcohol. Steven Prezwodek was later released on traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. In addition, Steven Prezwodek was issued a complaint summons for Underage Possession of Alcohol and for DUI with a Minor Passenger.
• Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 12:40 p.m., a resident of the 1700 block of Serpentine Drive in Forked River reported an incident of criminal mischief. The complainant reported that during the morning hours on Saturday, December 28, 2013, an unknown person or persons put superglue in his front door lock and garage door lock. The complainant was able to remove the glue. No permanent damage resulted from the incident.
• Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 7:47 p.m., a resident of the 200 block of Richard Place in Forked River reported criminal mischief to a motor vehicle. The complainant reported that between approximately 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 28, 2013, an unknown person or persons utilized a crow bar in an attempt to pry open the truck to his vehicle which was parked in the driveway. The complainant reported that nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle. Damage is estimated at $1,200. A neighbor observed a white mini-van in the area at approximately 6:00 a.m. When the neighbor approached the white mini-van, the vehicle reportedly sped off.
• Assault (Arrest) – On Sunday, December 29, 2013, at 11:23 p.m. Officers Andrew Slota and Robert Duffy responded to the 2500 block of W. Lacey Road in Forked River for an assault. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Charles R. Wolfe 3rd of South Toms River, NJ, for Assault. Charles R. Wolfe 3rd was located walking on West Lacey Road near the Bamber Lakes Fire Department when he was arrested. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Charles R. Wolfe 3rd was charged on a complaint summons with Assault.
• Warrant (Arrest) – On Monday, December 30, 2013, at 7:49 p.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas conducted a motor vehicle stop of 30-year-old Joseph Witty Jr. of Toms River who had a suspended driver’s license and an active warrant. The warrant was from the Beachwood Municipal Court in the amount of $600. Officer Tsarnas conducted the traffic stop on Lacey Road near Lane Place. Joseph Witty Jr. was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released on his own recognizance by the Beachwood Municipal Court Clerk. In addition, he was issued a traffic summons for driving with a suspended driver’s license.
• Municipal Ordinance Violation (formal charge) – On Monday, December 30, 2013, at 9:39 p.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas responded to the 300 block of Harbour View Drive in Forked River for a loud noise complaint. Upon further inquiry, Officer Tsarnas issued 42-year-old Shawn Schierloh of Forked River a summons for Excessive Noise in a residential area.
