Impersonating a Police Officer – At approximately 7:00 p.m., on Monday, February 18, 2013, Police Officer John McKee was dispatched to a local restaurant. The officer met with a concerned patron who reported a suspicious adult male. The suspicious male, Bryan Boggs, age 35, of Lanoka Harbor, had been overheard identifying himself as “Lieutenant Frederick” of the Lacey Township Police Department while speaking on his cellular phone. Investigation revealed that Bryan Boggs allegedly induced an 83 year-old, Forked River female to supply her personal information, including: social security number, date of birth, and an account number. Bryan Boggs was arrested at the restaurant and charged with “Impersonating a Police Officer.” He was processed and released on a summons. Residents should be aware of such potential scams and be very careful in giving out any personal identifiers or account numbers when unexpectedly solicited.
