Shoplifting / Warrant Arrest – On Friday, October 7, 2022, at 1:37 p.m., Officer Hutman and Sergeant Nick responded to Walmart for a reported shoplifting. A store employee advised officers that they had observed a male take merchandise from within the store and immediately attempt to return it using an old receipt. The stolen items were valued at $35.97. Officers met with the suspect, Jason Hickey, 39, of Lanoka Harbor, and placed him under arrest. Jason was also found to have an outstanding warrant originating out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office. Jason was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with Shoplifting on a summons. Jason was able to post bail on the warrant, and was released pending a future court appearances.
Theft – On Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 12:34 p.m., Officer Lee responded to the Lacey Shell for a report of theft. Upon his arrival, a gas station employee advised that a customer had just left the business without paying for gasoline. The gasoline was valued at $15.00.
Theft – On Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 1:48 p.m., Officer Lee responded to a Drew Avenue residence for a report of theft. Upon his arrival, the complainant advised that sometime between 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, and 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, someone stole his 2021 Keystone Bullet camper from his property. The camper is valued at approximately $32,000.00. This investigation is ongoing.
Suspicious Person/Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 5:18 p.m., officers responded to the Lacey Mall for a report of a male subject lying in a nearby wooded area. Upon their arrival, officers made contact with the subject, Jason Woerner, 39, of Bayville. Jason was found to have an outstanding warrant originating out of the Union Township Municipal Court, and was placed under arrest. Jason was transported to police headquarters where he was processed prior to being released on his own recognizance, pending a future court appearance.
DWI – On Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 12:56 a.m., Officer Walsh conducted a motor vehicle stop near Route 9 and Murray Grove Lane for failure to maintain lane. Officers Keefe and Tamburro responded to assist. Officers met with the driver, Michael Park, 50, of Toms River. Investigation at the scene revealed that Michael was driving while intoxicated. Michael was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed. Michael was issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, and Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane and released in accordance with John’s Law.
