On Sunday, January 27, 2013, a resident of Arlington Lane North in the Forked River Beach area reported a theft of various items from the Arlington Lane North property. The resident reported that during the daytime hours of Friday, January 25, 2013, someone entered the property and stole copper fittings and other recyclable items previously placed outside the garage door of the residence by the homeowner. Several of the electrical items also were damaged, as the power cords were cut off.
Residents are reminded that there is a continuing problem with “scrapping” related thefts throughout the Township. Unfortunately, offenders continue to steal items known to be of value when sold as “scrap.” These offenses range from unlawful entries into homes (burglary) to strip the copper piping, to more minor offenses, such as, simply cutting the power cords off of appliances to sell for scrap value.
