  • DUI (Arrest) – On Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 9:18 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow conducted a traffic stop on Manchester Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 42-year-old Jennifer Bruno of Longwood Drive in Forked River, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Jennifer Bruno was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Impeding the Flow of Traffic, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle Jennifer Bruno was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 12:47 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Wawa located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 33-year-old Timothy S. Jordan of Skiffway Drive in Forked River on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was issued from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department in the amount of $1,029. Timothy Jordan was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 6:23 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to a residence on South Street in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a burglary. The victim reported that between 7:20 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. an unknown person or persons forced entry into the residence by kicking in a door. Once in the residence, the suspect or suspects stole property. Detective Sam Della Sala responded and assumed control of the investigation.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 12:30 a.m., Officers Charles May and Julie Barcalow responded to the parking lot of the Wawa located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River for a suspicious vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 41-year-old Michael S. Clark of Tappan Street in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Michael Clark was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Inspect, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle Michael Clark was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, May 2, 2014, at 8:31 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota conducted a traffic stop on West Lacey Road near Lacey Materials. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 29-year-old Teressa M. Lopez of Linden Avenue in Elizabeth, NJ, on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was issued by the Hoboken Municipal Court and was in the amount of $389. Teressa Lopez was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was later released after posting bail.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11:46 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey was on patrol when he observed a suspicious male subject in the area of Bayside East Parkway and Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 37-year-old Phillip Scheller of Capstan Drive in Forked River on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was issued from the Belleville Township Municipal Court in the amount of $400. Phillip Scheller was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after posting bail.

  • Theft – On Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 7:55 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey took a report of a theft. The victim stated that during the day, while at the Gille Park soccer fields on Manchester Avenue in Forked River, an unknown person or persons stole his Samsung Galaxy III Cell phone valued at approximately $500.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 12:25 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer and Special Officer Travis Horton responded to the Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for an adult female who reportedly took merchandise off the shelf and then attempted to return it to the customer service desk for a refund. Upon arrival of the officers, the female was located. The investigation led to the arrest of the adult female, identified as 34-year-old Michelle D. DellaPietro of Harbor Inn Road in Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Michelle DellaPietro was released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting merchandise valued at approximately $50.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 2:56 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a recent shoplifting incident. Walmart staff advised that a male subject took a 55 inch flat screen TV and left the store without paying for it. An investigation commenced and the accused was identified as 37-year-old William J. Hoefsloot, of Parkside Drive in Forked River. Officers John D. Simonson and Michael Hein responded to William Hoefsloot’s residence where he was placed under arrest for the shoplifting and transported to police headquarters. The TV was recovered at the scene. William Hoefsloot was processed and later released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting merchandise valued at approximately $700.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 5:52 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy observed 51-year-old Rocco A. Selig of Cedarwood Drive in Forked River walking on the 300 block of Merrimac Drive in Forked River. Officer Androcy learned that there was an outstanding warrant for Rocco Selig’s arrest. The warrant was issued out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office in the amount of $27,721.84 for nonsupport. Rocco Selig was arrested on the warrant without incident and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 5:43 p.m., Officers Dimitri Tsarnas and Michael Hein responded to the Wawa located at 701 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a male subject who reportedly appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Upon arrival, officers located the subject. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 22-year-old Christopher P. Boardingham of Lakeside Drive North in Forked River for possession of various forms of illegal drugs. Christopher Boardingham was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Heroin, Suboxone, Xanax, and hypodermic needles.

  • Residential Structure Fire – On Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 12:03 p.m., Sergeant Vincent Meehan, along with Officers John D. Simonson and Michael Eden, responded to 133 Caldwell Drive in Forked River for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, flames and heavy smoke were observed coming from the upstairs of the residence located directly over the garage. The Forked River, Lanoka Harbor, and Bayville Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire. There were no reported injuries. The Ocean County Fire Marshal, along with Lacey Township Police Detective Alan Abrecht responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

  • Burglary and Criminal Mischief (Garage) – On Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 10:35 a.m., Sergeant Vincent Meehan and Officer Michael Hein responded to the 1200 block of Beach Boulevard in Forked River for the unlawful entry of a garage. The victim reported that between March 30, 2014, and the report date, May 4, 2014, an unknown person or persons forced entry into the garage of the residence by forcing open a rear door. The garage was checked and there did not appear to be anything missing. It appears that the actual residence was not entered. The damage to the door is estimated at $50.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 2:11 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 near Beach Boulevard in Forked River for a speeding violation. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 27-year-old Danielle D. Fiorenzo of Mizzen Way in Waretown, NJ, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Danielle Fiorenzo was later released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Speeding. The vehicle Danielle Fiorenzo was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Life-Saving Use of Naloxone on 19-year-old Lanoka Harbor Resident – At approximately 6 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014, Lacey Township Police Officers Dimitri Tsarnas and Evan Androcy responded to a suspected Heroin overdose incident at a Lanoka Harbor residence involving a 19-year-old male who resides in Lanoka Harbor. Upon the arrival of the officers, they found the teen to be unresponsive with very shallow breathing. Officer Dimitri Tsarnas needed to utilize two separate Naloxone kits before the teen regained responsiveness. A volunteer crew from the Lanoka Harbor First Aid Squad arrived and administered oxygen with assisted breathing to allow the medication to have the desired effect. The Lanoka Harbor First Aid Squad transported the patient to the Community Medical Center for further treatment.

    The medication Naloxone is administered to overdose victims pursuant to the Overdose Prevention Act of 2013 (N.J.S.A. 24:6J-1 et seq.). The Overdose Prevention Act is the same law that prohibits law enforcement from arresting or charging the person who overdoses. Both the person who calls for medical assistance as well as the patient are protected from arrest, charge, prosecution, or conviction for the possession or use of the illegal drugs. This Naloxone save is the second such incident in Lacey Township within the past two weeks.
