Neighborhood Crime Alert (Burglary) – Thursday, January 16, 2014 – 900 Block of Clairmore Avenue, Lanoka Harbor
Residential Burglary & Theft – On Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 9:16 p.m., Officer Adam Ewart responded to a residence on the 900 Block of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a residential burglary and theft. The reporting person indicated that between 6:15 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered the home and stole various items while the owner was not home. Items reported to be stolen from the home include: numerous pieces of jewelry; $50.00 in cash; and two I-pods. The total value of items stolen exceeded $500. There were no signs of forced entry, as entry may have been made through an unlocked window. Evidence was collected at the scene which may assist in the investigation. Detective Surtees responded to the scene and is handling the follow-up investigation. Multiple Car Burglaries (Search Warrant & Arrests) – On Tuesday, January 14, 2014, detectives executed a search warrant at 841 Hanley Street in Lanoka Harbor in reference to an ongoing burglary investigation. Detectives seized dozens of items of personal property believed to be tied to over 30 motor vehicle burglaries that have occurred over the past two months. Detectives arrested 41-year-old Ned Berwanger Jr. of 841 Hanley Street in Lanoka Harbor. Ned Berwanger was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility with bail set at $100,000 with no 10% option.

Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 1:51 p.m., Officer Joseph Soto responded 504 Laurelwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor in reference to a theft. Thomas Blackwell reported that during the overnight hours someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet. The value of the stolen items is estimated at $50.

Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 6:17 a.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to the 2000 block of Lakeside Drive South in Forked River for a theft. The victim reported that between 10:30 p.m. on January 7, 2014, and 6:15 a.m. on January 8, 2014, an unknown person entered his unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway. Stolen from the vehicle was a black Nike gym bag, $20.00 in cash and a NJ Transit Ticket Punch valued at $100.00. Total theft was value at $160.

The victim reported that between 1:00 p.m. on January 7, 2014, and 3:00 a.m. on January 8, 2014, an unknown person entered his unlocked vehicle and stole approximately $23 in change.

Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Friday, January 10, 2014, at 7:21 a.m., Officer John Simonson responded to Easy Street in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that between 7:20 p.m. on January 9, 2014, and 11:30 a.m. on January 10, 2014, an unknown person entered two unlocked vehicles — one parked in the driveway and the other on the street. The total theft from both vehicles was estimated at $6.

Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Friday, January 10, 2014, at 8:40 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson responded to the 100 block of Forrest Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that between 8:00 p.m. on January 9, 2014, and 8:30 a.m. on January 10, 2014, an unknown person entered two of their unlocked vehicles that were parked in the driveway. The theft included $30 in cash and change along with a wallet containing personal items. The total theft was estimated at $45.

Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Friday, January 10, 2014, at 9:00 a.m., Officer John Simonson responded to Easy Street in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that between 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2014, and 9:00 a.m. on January 10, 2014, an unknown person entered two of his vehicles that were unlocked and parked in the driveway of the residence. The victim reported that approximately $20 was stolen from each vehicle.

Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Friday, January 10, 2014, at 6:27 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to Easy Street in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that between 11:00 p.m. on January 9, 2014, and 7:15 a.m. on January 10, 2014, an unknown person entered her unlocked vehicle, which was parked on the street, and stole a black Garmin NUVI 50LM GPS unit, valued at $177; a dark gray Canon Power Shot digital camera, valued at $200; and a purple Droid Galaxy cell phone valued at $400. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at $777.

Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Friday, January 10, 2014, at 5:58 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to Easy Street in Lanoka Harbor, for a theft. The victim reported that sometime between 11:00 p.m. on January 9, 2014, and 8:15 a.m. on January 10, 2014,an unknown person entered her husband’s unlocked vehicle while it was parked in front of their residence. Stolen from the center console was a white I-Phone car charger valued at $20, as well as $26 in cash. Total value of the stolen property is estimated at $46.

Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at 7:54 a.m., Officer Robert Flynn responded to Dee Road in Forked River for a report of Criminal Mischief. The victim reported that during the prior week, an unknown person shot a pellet through an upstairs window of the residence under construction. The damage is estimated at $100.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at 1:36 p.m., 29-year-old Michael Hughes of Forked River turned himself in at Lacey Police headquarters to post bail on a $914 Wall Township Municipal Court warrant. Michael Hughes was processed and released.

Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Wednesday, January 9, 2014, at 5:38 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 300 block of Lakeside Drive in Forked River for criminal mischief. The victim reported that between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on January 8, 2014, an unknown person damaged his white mailbox that was located out in front of the residence. The damage is estimated at $20.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 12:29 p.m., Officers Robert Flynn and Daniel Ricciardella responded to the Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a female shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 26-year-old Emilie C. Guzman, Pennsylvania Avenue in Waretown, NJ for shoplifting merchandise valued at $97.08. She was processed and later released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.

Trespass, Theft, & Landlord Violation – On Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 1:31 p.m., Officer Cernek responded to 513 Beach Boulevard in reference to missing items from a rented home. The residents reported that their rental home was improperly entered and that numerous items were removed by the landlord while they were away. Some of the items removed include a sofa, TV stand, coffee table, Nintendo Wii, various clothes, Brinks safe, social security cards and birth certificates, $400 in cash, a Coach purse, various DVDs, and dishes. The residents reported having continuous issues with their landlord and believe that she is responsible for the missing property. The residents observed remnants of some of their personal items near the street and believe that the landlord put their personal belongings out to the trash. The estimated value of the missing property at this time is $750. The matter is under continuing investigation.

DUI (Arrest) – On Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 6:24 p.m., Officer Peter Donahue responded to the intersection of Lakeside Drive South and Ravine Drive in reference to a two-car motor vehicle accident in which the involved parties were involved in a verbal dispute. While investigating the incident, it was discovered that the accident occurred at the intersection of Deerhead Lake Drive and Serpentine Drive when 54-year-old Toni E. Blackwell of 2258 Lakeside Drive South in Forked River ran the stop sign and collided with a vehicle driven by, 26-year-old David Monko of 1916 Whitcomb Road in Forked River. Toni Blackwell fled the scene and pulled into a driveway of a residence that she thought was vacant, but was followed by David Monko. Further investigation led to the arrest of Toni Blackwell for DUI. Toni Blackwell was issued summons for DUI, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute (Arrest) – On Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 2:05 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey stopped a 2008 Nissan Altima for speeding and failure to maintain a lane on Route 9 near Game Farm Road in Forked River. While speaking with the driver, 35-year-old Dametrious R. Summers, Officer Verwey detected the distinct odor of marijuana. Continuing investigation led to a consent search of the vehicle and the discovery of packaged marijuana consistent with distribution. Three individually wrapped clear bags containing marijuana were found in the trunk of the vehicle. The vehicle’s registered owner and operator, 35-year-old Dametrious R. Summers of 117 South MLK Boulevard in Atlantic City, was placed under arrest. Dametrious R. Sumners was charged with Possession of more than 50 grams of Marijuana as well as Possession with the Intent to Distribute CDS. Dametrious Sumners was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility with bail set at $25,000. The vehicle was impounded for potential forfeiture. Investigation is continuing into the location in Lacey Township where the CDS was to be delivered.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 4:33 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey, responded to the Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a male shoplifter who fled from the store. A description was provided and the subject was located at a nearby New Jersey Transit Bus Stop. The investigation led to the arrest of 43-year-old George P. Decrosta of 23 Birch Street in Beachwood for shoplifting merchandise valued at $450.24. He was transported to headquarters and processed. He was later transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 bail for the shoplifting charge.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 10:26 p.m.,Officers Michael Verwey and Dimitrios Tsarnas, while on a special patrol detail looking for suspicious drug activity, observed a white male in a vehicle acting suspiciously in the parking lot of the Taylor Lane Wawa, 444 Route 9 South. Upon further investigation it was learned that 34-year-old Andrew S. Zitzner of 1206 Ocean Street in Forked River was nervous because he had an outstanding $750 Lakewood Township Municipal Court contempt warrant. Andrew Zitzner was arrested and transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and turned over to Lakewood Township Police.

DUI and Underage Consumption of Alcohol – On Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 11:46 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Dimitrios Tsarnas stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of Wawa, 800 Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 19 year-old Zachary E. Gray of Capstan Drive in Forked River for DUI and Underage Consumption of Alcohol. Lacey Used Auto impounded the vehicle pursuant to John’s Law. Zachary Gray was transported to headquarters where he provided breath samples. Zachary Gray was issued summonses for Underage Consumption of Alcohol, DWI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and for a Provisional Drivers License Violation. The two passengers in the vehicle, 18-year-old Ethan J. Walter of 2524 Hurry Road in Forked River and 20-year-old Daniel J. Hadley of 1829 Second Street in West Deptford, NJ were charged with the municipal ordinance violation for underage consumption of alcoholic beverages at a private residence.Additional investigation led officers to the 103 Pine Street in Forked River where additional persons were believed to be consuming alcohol under the legal age. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 20 year-old Sabrina Bowen of 103 Pine Street in Forked River; 19-year-old Jessica B Valentine of 510 Cedarwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor; and 20-year-old Brandi-Lynn Rousse of 1419 Jay Street in Forked River for the municipal ordinance violation of Underage Consumption of Alcohol in a private residence. They were each charged and released at the scene.

Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 3:27 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to 844 Hanley Street in Lanoka Harbor in reference to criminal mischief. Peter Arp reported that between 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2014, an unknown person or persons slashed a tire on his “Cargo Express” trailer while it was parked in front of his residence. The value of the tire is estimated at $120.

Theft – On Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 7:07 p.m., Officer Robert Duffy responded to 35 Nautilus Boulevard in reference to theft of medication. Catherine Daddio reported that someone stole 36 Oxycodone/Acetamino tablets from her residence between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Catherine Daddio suspects that employees from home service company may be responsible for the theft as they were performing work in her residence at that time. The value of the theft is estimated at $10.

Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 10:24 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy stopped a vehicle in the area of Route 9 and Haines St for expired registration. Upon speaking with the driver, 21-year-old Jesse L. Ehrnstrom of 503 Buttonwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor, Officer Androcy detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Officer Androcy also observed small pieces of what he believed to be marijuana on the driver’s sweatshirt and on the interior of the vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the discovery of a clear plastic bag containing marijuana and two glass smoking pipes. Jesse Ehrnstrom was arrested and transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jesse Ehrnstrom was also issued a traffic summons for Unregistered Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle. Jesse Ehrnstrom was released pending a court date.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 11:17 a.m., Officer Robert Duffy and Officer Andrew Slota were patrolling the wooded area near “Carusoville” off Dover Road in Bamber Lake when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked in a wooded area. Upon speaking with the driver, 29-year-old Joseph E. Kline of 102 Jefferson Avenue in Bayville, it was discovered that his driver’s license was suspended and he had an active warrant for $500 out of the Sparta Township Municipal Court for contempt. Joseph Kline was arrested and transported to Lacey Police Headquarters where he posted cash bail. Joseph Kline was issued a summons for driving while suspended and then released.

Warrant (Arrest) – On Monday, January 13, 2014, at 10:57 a.m., 24-year-old Jonathan DeSantis-Joiner of Bayville was arrested at police headquarters on an outstanding $500 Lacey Township Municipal Warrant. Jonathan DeSantis-Joiner was unable to post bail and was transported to Ocean County Jail in default of bail.

Drug Possession & Shoplifting (Arrests) – On Monday, January 13, 2014, 9:42 a.m., Officers Sarno, Anderson, and Pearce responded to Kohl’s in reference to three suspicious males on the side of the building that may be smoking marijuana and may have shoplifted items from the store. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 18-year-old Cody Collins of 322 Eleanor Road in Forked River for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to Lacey Police Headquarters where he was processed and released on summons awaiting a court date. A 16-year-old male was charged with shoplifting, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigation at the scene revealed the possession of an unusual quantity of Coricidin (Triple Cs), an over-the-counter medicine containing Dextromethorphine which is known to be abused by teens and young adults. Officer John Simonson is continuing an active investigation from December into prior cases of shoplifting of Coricidin from the Lacey ShopRite.

Multiple Burglaries & Thefts (Search Warrant & Arrest) – Detectives of the Lacey Township Police Department executed a search warrant at 841 Hanley Street in Lanoka Harbor during the evening hours of Tuesday, January 14, 2014. The search warrant came as a result of a five-week investigation into dozens of car burglaries throughout Lacey Township extending back to November of 2013 through this past week (1/10/14). During the search warrant, detectives seized dozens of pieces of personal property believed to be the illegal proceeds of car burglaries committed in Lacey Township as well as elsewhere in Ocean County. The five-week investigation began as a concern of drug distribution from 841 Hanley Street and led to the inclusion of burglary offenses as a focus of the investigation. Detectives arrested 41-year-old Ned Berwanger at the scene and charged him with multiple counts of Burglary, Theft, and Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards. Ned Berwanger of 841 Hanley Street in Lanoka Harbor was committed to the Ocean County Correctional Facility with bail set at $100,000 no 10% option. Due to the complexity of the investigation and the need for considerable follow-up, the investigation will continue and additional charges will be prepared in the days and weeks to come. The Lacey Township Police Department thanks the public for submitting anonymous “crime tips” related to this case through the Police Department website over the past five weeks.

Warrant (Arrest) –On Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at 1:41 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a motor vehicle stop of 43-year-old Kimberly Sonn of Forked River who was driving with a suspended registration and had an outstanding $89 warrant out of the Ocean Township Municipal Court. The registration was determined to be suspended for canceled insurance and it was determined that the vehicle did not currently have valid insurance. Kimberly Sonn was placed under arrest and transported to Lacey Police Headquarters where she posted bail. Kimberly Sonn was issued summonses for suspended registration and no insurance.

Theft – On Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at 5:08 p.m., 23-year-old Alexander Rodriguez of 1103 Mizzen Avenue in Beachwood responded to police headquarters to report a theft. Alexander Rodriguez reported that sometime over the past three months someone stole his Playstation III gaming console and a Craftsman Snowblower from his mother’s residence on Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River. Alexander Rodriguez reported that his mother last saw the items on December 28, 2013. The total value of the items is estimated at $400. On January 4, 2014, the snowblower was located at Cash Now, 1231 Route 166, Suite 2, in Toms River. Charges are pending the identification of the suspect.

Theft from a Vehicle – On Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 7:22 a.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to Clearwater Drive in Forked River for a report of thefts from three motor vehicles which were parked in the driveway of a residence. Each vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked. A brown leather tri-fold wallet was stolen from one of the vehicles. The wallet contained money, identification, credit cards, and gift cards. Total value is estimated at $62. The other two vehicles were entered but had nothing stolen. One of the gift cards may have been used at the Wawa, located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River, to purchase gas. The incident is currently under investigation pending surveillance video and records from Wawa.

Theft from a Vehicle – On Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at 10:46 a.m., a resident of Clearwater Drive in Forked River reported a theft from a motor vehicle. The owner reported that during the overnight hours, an unknown person or persons entered his vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of the residence and stole a 1984 City of Linden High School class ring and eight 30mg Oxycodone pills. The estimated total value of the stolen items is $540.

Criminal Mischief – On Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at 8:16 a.m., a report was filed for criminal mischief to the skate park in Gille Park, 56 Manchester Avenue in Forked River. During the overnight hours of December 31, 2013, into January 1, 2014, unknown persons damaged the skate-park fence. The subjects broke the metal tie down clamps that secure the chain link fence to the fence posts and then pulled the fence back to gain entry into the skate park. The center support post was also removed and missing.

Theft – On Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at 11:10 a.m., a resident of Laurel Boulevard, Lanoka Harbor, reported the theft of 120 prescription Xanax pills between December 24, 2013, and December 30, 2013. The theft was reported to have been committed by a family member who was permitted in the residence. The relative denied stealing the pills. The matter is under investigation.

Theft – On Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at 2:51 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 N, in Lanoka Harbor, in reference to a theft from a shopping cart. A Forked River resident reported that he and his 6-year-old daughter were shopping inside Walmart when an unknown person stole his daughter’s purse from the shopping cart. The items stolen included a purse, a $20.00 bill, and a $25.00 Visa gift card. Special Officer Urban is currently investigating the matter and will be viewing the surveillance video recording upon receipt from Walmart officials.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at 5:53 p.m., Officers Darrell Nick and John McKee responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 N, in Lanoka Harbor, in reference to shoplifting. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 27-year-old Lauren E. Saldana of 114 Manor Drive in Manchester, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $195.74. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving a criminal summons for the theft.

DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, January 3, 2014, at 1:44 p.m., Officer John Cernek was on patrol when he observed a vehicle off of the roadway into the snow near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Clubhouse Drive. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 53-year-old William Mckelvey of 813 Beach Boulevard in Forked River for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. William Mckelvey was transported to police headquarters where he refused to provide samples of his breath. William Mckelvey was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and DUI. William Mckelvey was also issued a criminal summons for driving while suspended while being suspended for a previous DUI.

Theft – On Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 7:37 p.m., Officer Robert Duffy responded to Lacey Liquors in reference to a theft. The store owner reported that at approximately 7:30 p.m. a male subject entered the store, concealed a 750 ml bottle of Grey Goose vodka ($37.99 value), and walked out without paying for the item. The suspect was described as a white male, 6-01 in height, in his 40’s, wearing a black jacket and a black and white striped “Beanie hat.” The store owner reported that the same subject previously entered the store at approximately 6:45 p.m. on the same date, but had purchased a bottle of the same type of vodka. The suspect was observed entering passenger side of a black Ford Explorer. Charges are pending the identification of the suspect.

Fraud (Arrest) – On Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 3:15 p.m., Officer Simonson responded to Chase Bank located at 744 Lacey Road in Forked River for an attempted fraud. The bank manager reported that a subject attempted to withdraw $4,480.75 from an account. Upon checking the subject’s identification, it appeared to be fraudulent and upon checking activity on the account it appeared that the suspect attempted withdraw money earlier in the day from a Chase Bank in Toms River. The subject was denied because she was not able to answer security questions on the account. The suspect was denied the money and left the bank on foot. She was located and identified as Faye Angel Singleton of 3043 Yates Avenue in Bronx, NY. Faye Singleton was arrested and transported to Lacey Police Headquarters where she was fingerprinted and charged with Uttering a Forged Document, Criminal Attempt, Theft by Deception, and Exhibiting a False Government Document.

Theft from a Residence – On Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 6:20 p.m., 44-year-old John Abrams of Maywood Place in Forked River reported that someone stole items from his home between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2014. The items reported stolen included 40 Oxycotin pills and $300 cash from a lock box he had hidden in his home. Other items, including medications and additional cash in the box, were not stolen. There was no forced entry to the residence or the lock box. Total value of the stolen property is estimated at $340.

DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, January 5, 2013 at 1:37 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas stopped a vehicle on Route 9 near Beach Boulevard. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 22-year-old Ashley Biele of 205 Carol Drive in Toms River for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Ashley Biele was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she refused to provide breath samples. Ashley Biele was charged with DUI, refusal to provide breath samples, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and failure to report change of address.

Shoplifting & Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, January 5, 2013 at 5:07 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor in reference to shoplifting. The Asset Protection Associate observed 29-year-old Jessica Doctor of 60 Mallard Road in Bayville conceal several items in her purse and then attempted to exit the store without paying for them. The stolen items included one two pack t-shirt and bra, one pair of gloves, and one beanie. Jessica Doctor was placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest uncovered a pack of Paper Mate Ink Joy pens hidden on her person. Jessica Doctor was also found to have an active $600 Manchester Township Municipal Court failure-to-appear warrant. Jessica Doctor was transported to Lacey Police Headquarters where she was processed and released on a criminal summons after bail was posted on the Manchester Municipal Court warrant.

Drug Possession & Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, January 5, 2014, at 6:34 p.m., a resident of Weehawken Avenue in Forked River reported that she believed her daughter, 21-year-old Ashley Frank of 771 Weehawken Avenue, was being held against her will. The caller reported that she received text messages from Ashley Frank requesting her to leave $200 in the mailbox outside of her residence. The caller reported that Ashley Frank indicated that she needed $200 or the people she was with were not going to let her leave. The veracity of the claim by Ashley Frank was very questionable, so officers set up a surveillance of the mailbox and observed a vehicle stop and pick up the money. The vehicle was stopped by Officer Dimitri Tsarnas and the driver, 28-year-old Raymond Ouellette of 912 Neptune Avenue in Beachwood was questioned regarding the whereabouts of Ashley Frank. Raymond Ouellette indicated that Ashley Frank texted him and asked him to pick up the money and deliver it to her at 311 Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River. Officers responded to 311 Nautilus Boulevard where they observed Ashley Frank in the front yard. Upon seeing the officers, Ashley Frank fled inside the residence. Further investigation led to the arrest of Ashley Frank at the residence of 311 Nautilus Boulevard for an outstanding “No Bail” Ocean County Sheriff’s Department warrant for violation of probation. The post-arrest search of Ashley Frank uncovered two wax folds of heroin in her sweatshirt pocket. Ashley Frank was charged with possession of heroin and then turned over to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department on the outstanding no bail warrant for commitment in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

Warrants (Arrest) – On Sunday, January 5, 2014, while officers were at 311 Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River dealing with a separate arrest involving 21-year-old Ashley Franks, officers located 22-year-old Brittani Koppenjan of 50 Broadway in Point Pleasant who was found to have an active $10,000 Ocean County Sheriff’s Department warrant and an active $500 Toms River Township warrant. Brittani Koppenjan was arrested and transported to Lacey Police headquarters where she was processed and then turned over to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department for commitment in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

Theft from a Vehicle – On Monday, January 6, 2014, at 1:09 p.m., a resident of Driftwood Lane in Lanoka Harbor reported a theft from a motor vehicle. The resident reported that during the overnight hours between January 5, 2014 and January 6, 2014 someone entered her vehicle and stole a black Coach purse containing make-up. The vehicle was unlocked and parked in the driveway of the residence at the time of the theft. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at $230.

Burglary & Theft (Residence) – On Monday, January 6, 2013, at 12:10 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to 10 Taylor Lane for a report of a burglary. The resident reported that sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on January 6, 2014, someone entered his residence and stole two coffee cans containing money. One Maxwell House coffee can contained $175 worth of five dollar bills and one Maxwell House coffee can contained $150 of loose change. The homeowner reported that the home was not locked as there were no signs of forced entry.

Theft from a Person (Reported Robbery) – On Monday, January 6, 2014, at 6:47 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of the Forked River Pharmacy located at 605 Route 9 South in Forked River in reference to a report of robbery that reportedly occurred at Wawa located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River. The complainant, 26-year-old Jason Fiorvante of East Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor, reported that he parked his vehicle at the fuel pumps of Wawa and then proceeded inside the store where he made a purchase of some items. Jason Fiorvante reported that he left the items he purchased on the store counter while he walked into the bathroom. Jason Fiorvante reported that as he walked to the bathroom, he still had approximately $120 in his hand. Jason Fiorvante stated that while in the bathroom, a white male subject grabbed the money from his hand and ran out of the store. Jason Fiorvante reported that he chased the subject out of the side emergency exit door of Wawa and caught up with him in the parking lot of the Forked River Pharmacy where he reportedly retrieved his money. The other subject then reportedly fled the area on foot. Jason Fiorvante described the white male as being in his mid-to-late-twenties, wearing a black wool hat and a green jacket. Jason Fiorvante reported that he was not injured. All aspects of the reported incident are currently under investigation.
