Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – April 28 through May 5, 2022
Motor Vehicle Burglary- On April 28, 2022, at 10:39 a.m., Officer Carver responded to the 1200 block of Plover Court for a report of a vehicle burglary. The caller reported someone entered their unsecured vehicle and stole $1000 worth in property. This case is under investigation.
Shoplifting- On April 30, 2022, at 2:19 p.m., Officer D’Antonio and Officer Hutman responded to Walmart for a report of a female shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival officers met with the loss prevention employee, who stated he observed Frances Bezak, 70, of Waretown, attempt to steal $145.53 worth of merchandise from the store. At the conclusion of the investigation, Frances was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. Frances was charged with shoplifting on a complaint summons and released.
Driving While Intoxicated- On May 1, 2022, at 2:58 p.m., Officer Lee responded to the parking lot of Lidle, for a report of an unconscious female, slumped over the steering wheel. Upon arrival Officer Lee located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, London Herrmann, 34, of 24 South Street. Officer Lee later conducted standardized field sobriety tests and determined London was under the influence. London was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. London was released after being issued multiple summonses including DWI, reckless driving, unlicensed driver and driving under the influence with a minor in the vehicle.
Forgery (Counterfeit Money)- On Monday, May 2, 2022, at 5:55 p.m., Officer Ravallo and Officer Lapeshko responded to Family Dollar, for a report of two suspicious males, attempting to pass counterfeit money. Upon arrival officers met with the store employee, who reported two unknown males attempted to purchase merchandise with counterfeit money. The employee explained one of the suspects attempted to use four one hundred dollar bills, which appeared counterfeit. The employee stated once the actors were told they could not be used, the left the store. This investigation is ongoing.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – April 21 through April 28, 2022
Motor Vehicle Crash/DWI- On Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 8:33 p.m., multiple officers, including Officers Copes, responded to Route 9 South and Taylor Lane for a report of a crash. Investigation at the scene reveled one of the drivers, Shirley R. Dilauri, 52, of Nutley, NJ, was suspected of being under the influence. Shirley was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. At the conclusion of processing, Shirley was released after being served with multiple traffic summonses including DWI.
Theft/Criminal Mischief- On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 10:24 a.m., Officer Slota responded to headquarters for a theft report. Upon arrival, Office Slota met with the victim who stated they had two flags taken from their front yard. The unknown actor had also damaged a PVC pipe to remove the flags. The total value of the flags is $22.00.
DWI- On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 9:28 p.m., Officer Watkins responded the temporary traffic signal on West Lacey Road, for a report of a vehicle that was stopped at the traffic signal for approximately 45 minutes. Upon arrival, the officer met with the driver, Andres Fernandezvillalob, 35, of 24 East Lacey Road, Forked River. Investigation at the scene revealed that Andres was driving while intoxicated. Officer Watkins placed Andres under arrest and transported him to headquarters, where he was processed. Andres was charged with DWI and Reckless Driving upon release.
Theft/Criminal Mischief- On April 25, 2022, at 8:18 a.m., Officer Lee responded to Aphrodite Marble for a theft. Upon arrival, Officer Lee met with the victim who reported the catalytic converter to their commercial vehicle was stolen. The approximate value of the catalytic converter is $2,000.00.
Theft/Criminal Mischief- On April 25, 2022, at 12:40 p.m. Officer Lee responded to Caporale Pet Supplies for a theft. Upon arrival, Officer Lee met with the victim who reported the catalytic converter to their commercial vehicle was stolen. The approximate value of the catalytic converter is $2,000.00.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – April 14 through April 21, 2022
Warrant Arrest- On Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 8:52 p.m., Officer Hyle responded to police headquarters for a report of a male subject who had an outstanding Ocean County Sheriff’s Department warrant and wished to turn himself in. Officer Hyle met with Carmelo Perez Jr (49), of Atlantic City, and confirmed the warrant. Carmelo was placed under arrest and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility without incident.
Motor Vehicle Stop/Warrant- On April 15, 2022, at 4:39 p.m., Officer Hutman conducted a motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Lacey Road and Hoffman Road for careless driving. The driver, Joseph Calafiore (23), was found to have an outstanding “no bail” warrant out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. Joseph was placed under arrest and transported to Ocean County Correctional Facility. Joseph was also issued summonses for careless driving and driving while suspended.
Motor Vehicle Crash/DWI- On Sunday, April 17, 2022, at 1:55 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Route 9 North and South Street, for motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers found a single motor vehicle had crashed into a utility pole. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Richard Heisler 2nd (24) of Beachwood. Through the course of an investigation, it was determined Richard showed signs of impairment. Richard was later charged with DWI along with several other motor vehicle violations.
Possession of Toxic Chemicals– On April 17, 2022, at 11:52 a.m., Officer D’Antonio and Schaffer responded to the parking lot of Rite Aid for a report of a male sleeping in a vehicle, possibly huffing a can of compressed gas duster. Upon arrival, Officer Schaffer made contact with Walter Paseler Jr (53) of Waretown, who was observed to be sleeping in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Walter was awoken, and found to be holding a can of compressed gas duster in his hand. Walter was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. Walter was charged with inhaling toxic chemicals and possession of a toxic chemical on a complaint summons then released.
Motor Vehicle Crash/DWI- On Monday, April 18, 2022, at 11:43 a.m., Officer Simonson and Officer Nilon responded to the intersection of Lacey Road and Spaulding Avenue for a report of a single motor vehicle into a tree. Upon arrival the driver was identified as, Jennifer Radigan (48) of Waretown. On-scene interactions indicated she was under the influence. Jennifer was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. In the end, Jennifer was served with a criminal summons for possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic summonses for DWI as well as multiple motor vehicle violations. Jenifer was released in accordance with John’s Law.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – April 7 through April 14, 2022
Disorderly Conduct- On Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 9:53 a.m., Officers Matthew D’Antonio and Jason Lee responded to the Lacey Mall after a caller reported that a male suspect was shooting a bb gun from a vehicle. Although the suspect was not present upon arrival of officers, they were able to identify the actor as Ryedan Ashworth, 18. Officers also confirmed that Ashworth was shooting a water bead gun rather than a bb gun. Ashworth was issued a complaint for Disorderly Conduct.
Disorderly Conduct- On Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 1:28 a.m., several officers responded to a Windsor Street address and interacted with an adult female. During the interaction, Jamie Rawlins, 39, screamed at officers ultimately causing public inconvenience. She was issued a summons for Disorderly Conduct.
DWI- On Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 2:19 a.m., Officer Michael Hyle was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Bay Way near Route 9. The caller reported that a passing Chevy Cobalt left the traveled portion of the roadway striking two of his parked vehicles. The vehicle further collided with two mailboxes and a street sign prior to leaving the scene. The vehicle was located on Ash Road displaying damage consistent with the accident. The driver of the vehicle, Alan Garcia, 27, was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Failure to Report an Accident. He was released pending a Court appearance.
Criminal Mischief- On Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 9:00 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe discovered damage to the bathrooms at Clune Park. The unknown actor(s) used spray paint to write graffiti on the building.
Arrest- On Monday, April 11, 2022, at 4:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to Chipotle in reference to an irate customer. An employee reported that a patron became annoyed when told that a dog could not be in the restaurant. The suspect went behind the counter reportedly striking the employee. As the incident progressed, the suspect threw a chair nearly striking the employee. Officer Dan Biel was able to locate the suspect, Zalika Hamilton, driving on Lacey Road. During the stop, Officer Biel arrested Hamilton for two outstanding warrants issued by the Lacey and Brick Municipal Courts, and an additional warrant issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. Hamilton, 27, of Lakewood, was ultimately charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Hamilton was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility without bail.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – March 24 through March 31, 2022
Shoplifting- On March, 24, 2022, at 1:12 p.m., Officer D’Antonio responded to Kohl’s for a shoplifting incident. Upon arrival, Officer D’Antonio met with the loss prevention employee who reported on February 19, 2022, two unknown females, shoplifted approximately $3,200.00 worth of merchandise, and left in a silver vehicle. This incident is under investigation.
Fraud- On Friday, March 25, 2022, at 9:45 a.m., Officer Emmett responded to police headquarters for a fraud report. Upon arrival, the victim reported they created an investment type account via an application on their phone. The victim reported they received an email from account’s help desk, which instructed the victim to change their password, as the security of the account was compromised. When the victim logged into the account, they realized that a large amount of the funds had been withdrawn. The victim reported the incident to the application company and the company instructed the victim to document the incident with their local police department.
DWI- On Friday, March 25, 2022, at 7:40 p.m., Officer Watkins responded to Wawa, 444 Route 9 South, for a report of a female driver slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle. Officer Watkins contacted the driver, Calah Murphy, 33, of Whiting, NJ. Officer Watkins determined that Calah was intoxicated, therefore she was placed under arrest and transported her to police headquarters. Calah was charged with DWI and released.
DWI– On Friday, March 25, 2022, at 11:54 p.m., Officer Walsh conducted a motor vehicle stop near the area of Western Boulevard and Bay Way, for speeding. Officer Walsh met with the driver, Matthew Lauer, 35, Lanoka Harbor, who appeared intoxicated. Matthew was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. Matthew was charged with DWI and released.
