Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – August 12th through August 19th, 2021

 

Disorderly Conduct- On Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 7:39 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins was waived down by a passing motorist reporting an altercation at the intersection of Route 9 and Lacey Road.  Officer Watkins responded and identified the parties as the passenger of a vehicle and the operator of a motorcycle.  Investigation revealed that during a verbal dispute, the motorcycle operator, Richard Cangiano, 57, struck the windshield of the car.  The vehicle’s passenger, Anthony Senatore, 63, exited the vehicle and punched Cangiano multiple times.  Cangiano was charged with Disorderly Conduct while Senatore was issued a summons for Simple Assault.  Both were released pending a Court appearance.

DWI- On Sunday, August 15, 2021, at 5:38 p.m., Officers Michael Baldasari and Michael Hyle arrested an intoxicated driver in the parking of Wawa, Lanoka Harbor.  Uriel Gonzalez, 39, was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, Unlicensed Driver, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.  Gonzalez was released and provided a Court date.

Road Rage- On Sunday, August 15, 2021, Lacey Police received a call from Brick Police regarding their investigation of a road rage incident.  Officers reported that the matter originated in Lacey Township and proceeded into Brick prior to one of the vehicles overturning.  The second vehicle is being sought.

Theft- On Monday, August 16, 2021, at 12:14 p.m., Officer Matthew D’Antonio was dispatched to 7-Eleven in reference to a theft.  The storeowner reported that a customer entered and purchased one lottery ticket.  Prior to exiting, the customer stole a stack of scratch-off tickets valued at $300.  Video surveillance is being used to help identify the actor.

Shoplifting- On Monday, August 16, 2021, at 3:34 p.m., Officers Michael Hein and Michael Hyle were dispatched to Home Depot after a customer attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise.  Officers arrested Dawn Serino, of Barnegat, charging her with Shoplifting.  The theft was valued at $587.62.  Dawn was released in accordance with bail reform.

DWI- On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 1:33 a.m., Officer Dylan Emmett conducted a motor vehicle stop on Sunrise Boulevard after the vehicle left it’s lane of travel.  During the stop, Officer Emmett deemed the driver under the influence.  William Clemmons, 35, was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane prior to being released.

Arrest- On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 9:23 a.m., Officers John Simonson and Alan Abrecht served an arrest warrant at a Buena Vista Road residence. Kenneth Novak, 32, was arrested and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility without bail for violating conditions of parole.

Arrest- On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 10:32 a.m., Officer Matthew D’Antonio conducted a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation.  During the stop, Officer D’Antonio discovered that the driver, Robert Pietz, 34, had an active traffic warrant issued by the Woodbridge Township Municipal Court.  Pietz was released from custody after satisfying the bail amount of $500.

Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – August 5th through August 12th, 2021

Fire- On Friday, August 6, 2021, at 10:31 p.m., Officer Nyeem Calhoun was dispatched to a Mallard Drive residence in reference to a fire.  Upon arrival, a fully engulfed dumpster was found in the driveway of the residence.  After being extinguished by the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, the fire was deemed non-suspicious by the Ocean County Fire Marshal.

Theft- On Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 10:16 p.m., Officers Scott Keefe and Nyeem Calhoun responded to the Forked River Beach Bayfront Park in reference to subjects removing signs.  The officers located and identified the actors as Kyle Lindemann, 20, of Howell, and Lucas Newholme, 18, of Waretown.  Both actors were charged with Theft of Moveable Property as the officers recovered five township owned signs.  Lindemann and Newholme were also charged with a local ordinance violation for being in the park after hours.

Arrest- On Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 10:25 p.m., officers served an arrest warrant at a Leguene Avenue home.  Once inside the residence, Ronald Sileo was located hiding in the garage.  Sileo was arrested and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in reference to a Lacey Municipal traffic warrant and a no-bail criminal warrant issued by the Ocean County Superior Court.

MVA- On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 11:49 a.m., officers were dispatched to Sunrise Boulevard for a motor vehicle accident.  Officers discovered that a garbage truck collided with a utility pole at the intersection of Foxwood Lane.  The pole broke into two pieces with the upper portion coming to rest on top of the truck.  Sunrise Boulevard was closed and power was lost intermittently while the pole was replaced.

Trespassing- On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 8:38 a.m., Officers Jason Lee and Joseph Pandorf were dispatched to Gary Smith Way for a disturbance.  The caller reported being in the rear seat of her vehicle with her daughter when David Lesien entered the vehicle.  Lesien was issued a summons for Trespassing.

Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – July 29th through August 5th, 2021

DWI/MVA- On Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 8:46 p.m., Officers responded to the intersection of Deerhead Lake Drive and Lakeside Drive North for a report of a vehicle that had struck a utility pole.  Investigation led to the arrest of Gary Zdenek, 43, for Driving While Intoxicated.  Zdenek was charged with numerous offenses including DWI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Possession of Open Container of Alcohol.  A portion of Lakeside Drive North was closed for several hours until utility companies responded and removed the pole and wires from the roadway.

Theft- On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at 01:50 a.m., Officer Holt and Officer Carver responded to Lacey Shell for a report of a theft of gas. An employee reported a vehicle occupied by four males left the gas station without paying for $39.06 worth of gas.  The investigation is ongoing.

DWI– On Tuesday August 3, 2021, at 2:18 p.m., Officer Hutman and Officer Pandorf responded to Earie Way for a report of a subject who had fallen off his motorcycle and was possibly intoxicated.  Investigation at the scene determined Christian Doll, 50, was operating a motorcycle under the influence and he was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.  Doll was charged with numerous offenses including DWI, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Suspended.

Criminal Trespass- On Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 01:20 a.m., Officer Holt and Officer Pearce responded to a Constitution Drive residence, for a report of an unknown female sleeping on the caller’s couch.  Investigation at the scene revealed Amy Haas, 47, entered the residence through an unlocked door and went to sleep on the couch.  Officer Holt placed Haas under arrest, charging her with 2C:18-3a, Unlicensed Entry of Structures, prior to her release on a complaint summons.

Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – July 22nd through July 29th, 2021

Disorderly Conduct- On Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 5:22 p.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven, 403 Route 9, in reference to a gentleman causing a disturbance.  During the investigation, police issued a summons to Moses Sutton, 28, for Disorderly Conduct.  Minutes after clearing from the scene, officers were dispatched to the store again.  After originally being told he was no longer permitted on the property, Sutton returned and was inside the store.  Sutton was issued a second summons for Trespassing.

Theft- On Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 10:22 p.m., a Township resident reported that while parked in the Lacey Mall lot, an unknown suspect entered his vehicle stealing a Coach purse.  The bag, which contained multiple personal items, was valued at $175.

Missing Person- On Friday, July 23, 2021, at 9:32 p.m., Officer Dylan Emmett responded to a Brookdale Park Drive residence in reference to a missing woman.  The caller reported that the 71 year-old woman, who suffers from dementia, wandered from the residence.  Numerous officers along with a K-9 Unit from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department initiated a search.  The woman was ultimately located with minor injuries in the Pheasant Run development.

Arrest- On Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 11:33 a.m., Officers Michael Hutman and Joseph Pandorf responded to the Lacey Inn for a reported injury.  While there, officers encountered Robert Damelio, 56.  Officers reportedly observed heroin while inside a hotel room leading to Damelio’s arrest.  Damelio was charged with Possession of Heroin and released on his own recognizance.

Juvenile Problem- On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at 9:32 p.m., Officer Martin Julian was dispatched to the Second Lake bathroom for a juvenile issue.  Upon arrival, Officer Julian located a 17 year-old male riding an unregistered dirt bike.  The juvenile was issued a motor vehicle summons for the offense.

Criminal Mischief- On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at 9:53 p.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to a Constitution Drive residence taking a report of criminal mischief.  The caller stated that while away from the home, an unknown suspect broke his front window.  Officer Pearce located a large landscape rock at the scene that was used to cause the damage estimated at $400.

Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – July 16th through July 21st, 2021

DWI, Obstruction of Justice, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats– On Friday, July 16, 2021, at 6:58 p.m., Officer Keefe responded to the area of Chestnut Drive, for a report of a driver who was possibly intoxicated.  The caller also reported they had just been involved in a verbal dispute with the driver.  Officer Keefe observed the vehicle described by the caller traveling in the area, before it parked in the driveway of a residence.  The driver was identified as Scott Corcoran, 57, of Lanoka Harbor.  During his investigation, Officer Keefe suspected Corcoran of driving while intoxicated. Corcoran ignored Officer Keefe’s commands and resisted arrest.  Additional Officers responded.  Corcoran was ultimately placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Obstruction of Justice, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, and Terroristic Threats.  The charges were placed on a Warrant and Corcoran was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Faculty.

DWI/MVA– On Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 11:21 p.m., Officer Holt and Officer Gant responded to Route 9 and Clearwater Drive, for a report of a three car motor vehicle crash. Investigation at the scene revealed that Linda Kossak, 69, was driving while intoxicated.  Kossak was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane.

DWI/MVA- On Sunday, July 18, 2021, at 10:06 p.m., officers responded to Beach Boulevard, for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist.  Investigation at the scene revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Beach Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his motorcycle.  The motorcyclist ran off the roadway, struck a mailbox and a utility pole, which caused the motorcycle to split in half.  The driver, Steven M. Weidencamp Jr., 29, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.

Drug Arrest- On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 05:07 a.m., Officer Plis and Officer Pearce responded to an area behind a local business on Lacey Road, for a report of a male subject passed out in a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located the male subject, Michael J. Costello, 31.  Investigation led to Costello being placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS)-Heroin, and Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.

Fraud- On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 11:38 a.m., Officer Hein and Officer Hyle responded to a Lanoka Harbor residence and met with a victim reporting fraud.  The victim reported they received an email advising them that they had fraudulent activity on their amazon visa card. The email provided a telephone number to contact, which the victim did.  After calling the telephone number the victim was advised there were numerous incidents of fraudulent activity on the account and they were directed to download an Application (App) to grant remote access to the victim’s account to resolve the issue. The victim downloaded the App and also purchased a gift card, further providing that information to the unknown person.  The victim’s bank account was also compromised.  Total loss to the victim is over $1,000.

DWI- On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 10:51 p.m., Officer Sarno and Officer Emmett were dispatched to the drive-thru of a restaurant on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor for a report of motor vehicle crash.  While enroute, one of the vehicles involved left the scene.  The vehicle was located in a nearby business parking lot.  Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, Eric Jablonski, 33, for Driving While Intoxicated.  Jablonski was issued multiple traffic summonses.

Fire- On Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 3:11 p.m., officers responded to a Forked River Beach residence for a report that lightning struck the residence and the structure was on fire.  The residents had evacuated with no reported injuries.  The Forked River Fire Department, Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, Bayville Fire Department and Waretown Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
