- Recovered Handgun – On Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 11:48 p.m., a resident of the 900 block of Clifton Street in Forked River reported that unknown person(s) entered their residence when they were not home and stole various items. One of the items stolen was a black, Ruger, 357 revolver (handgun) with brown grips. On Tuesday, June 25, 2013, the stolen handgun was recovered in Franklin Township (Sommerset County). The matter is under continuing investigation.
- Unlawful Taking of a Vehicle & Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, June 23, 2013, at approximately 4:27 a.m., Officer Resetar responded to the area of Steuben Avenue for a report of a vehicle having damaged yards and mailboxes in the area. Upon further investigation, it was determined that 20-year-old Matthew Uveges of Forked River unlawfully took a work truck from a yard on Haines Street and purposely drove onto the property of several residences and destroyed mailboxes in the Lanlac Drive and Cranberry Hill section of the Township. Various other landscaping was damaged on several properties. Total value of the damaged property is estimated at $2025. Two other occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the incident: 21-year-old Joseph Everett and 21-year-old Stephen Sloma who are both from Lacey Township. Joseph Everett and Stephen Sloma were both charged on Sunday, June 23, 2013, with the crime of Unlawful Taking of Means of Conveyance (Joyriding). Matthew Uveges was subsequently arrested on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, and charged with the 3rd degree crime of Unlawful Taking of Means of Conveyance, 3rd degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief.
- Robbery – On Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 10:07 p.m. Officer George Resetar responded to the area of Hill Top Drive and Ernest Drive in Lanoka Harbor in reference to a robbery that had just occurred. The victim reported that while walking in the area of Lake Barnegat Drive North and Ernest Drive, a small, white, two-door, pickup truck approached him and a male occupant asked him if he could use his phone. When the victim said “no,” the passenger reportedly sprayed him in the face with some type of eye irritant. The occupants then reportedly got out of the vehicle, knocked him to the ground, and stole his iPhone-4 cellular telephone. Three people are believed to have been in pickup, two white males and one white female. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center. Detective Robert Surtees is currently investigating the veracity of the statements made by the victim.
- Burglary of Residence – On Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 9:59 p.m., a resident responded to police headquarters to report that sometime between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Sunday June 23, 2013, some unknown person(s) entered her apartment on Manchester Avenue and stole some of her items. There were no signs of forced entry. Stolen items include a five drawer container, paperwork, and DVD’s. Total value of the property is estimated at $400.
- Burglary/Theft from MV – On Sunday, June 23, 2013 Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to a residence on Earie Way in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The resident reported that some unknown person(s) entered his vehicle and stole a Garmin GPS and $600 cash from his wallet. The vehicle was unlocked and parked in the residence’s driveway.
- Burglary/Theft from MV – On Monday, June 24, 2013, Officer Keith Pearce took a report from a resident of Laurelwood Drive who reported that sometime during the evening hours someone entered his vehicle and stole two pairs of men’s sunglasses valued at $510. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and was unlocked.
- Theft – On Tuesday, June 18, 2013, Officer John Simonson took a theft report from a resident of Lakeside Drive North. The resident reported that scrap copper was removed from a pickup truck’s bed parked in his yard. The theft occurred during the overnight hours on June 18, 2013. The value of the stolen items is estimated at $900.
- Theft – On Saturday, June 22, 2013, Officer George Resetar responded to Constitution Drive in reference to a theft. The resident reported that someone stole approximately $830 worth of landscape equipment from his work trailer while it was parked in his driveway.
- Criminal Mischief – On Monday, June 24, 2013, Officer Jesse Urban took a report of Criminal Mischief that occurred in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts. Sometime between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. some person(s) spray painted his vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot. The damage is estimated at $700.
- Criminal Mischief – Two residents of the Oakfield section of the township reported that their mailboxes were damaged sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2013. They appeared to have been struck by an object. Damage is estimated at $100.
- Criminal Mischief – Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to Taylor Lane in reference to criminal mischief. The resident reported that someone broke one of the rear windows of his residence with a large stone sometime between 9:10 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on June 20, 2013. It is believed that the rock was thrown from the area where the Ocean County trail is being constructed. Damage is estimated at $200.
- DWI – On Sunday, June 23, 2013, Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas responded to the area of Route 9 near Waretown for a report of a vehicle driving erratically. Officer Tsarnas stopped the vehicle for failure to maintain a lane on Route 9 near Oak Street in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 56-year-old Marla Pruden of Greenwood Lake, New York, for DUI. Marla Pruden also received summonses for Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lane.
- Warrant Arrest – Officer Andrew Slota and Officer Robert Duffy responded to a Brookdale Park Drive address for a report of trespassing. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 42-year-old Elizabeth Meyer of East Orange, NJ on several outstanding warrants.
- Attempted Theft – A resident of Taylor Lane reported that his back motion lights turned on around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013. Upon checking his backyard he observed two male subjects attempting to lift his 18 foot fiberglass canoe over his fence. Upon seeing him, the subjects fled on foot toward the rail trail.

- Child Pornography – On Monday, June 17, 2013, Detective Robert Surtees assisted investigators of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office with the execution of a search warrant at a Lakewood Avenue residence in Lanoka Harbor. An arrest was made at the scene of 33-year-old Chad Zehner for child pornography related crimes. Chad Zehner was processed at Lacey Township Police Headquarters and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of $35,000 bail.
- Trespassing Damage – On Monday, June 17, 2013, at 12:14 a.m.,Officers Charles May and Robert Flynn responded to Clayton Gravel, 2215 Lacey Road in Forked River, due to a report of a pickup truck trespassing on the property. The officers located and stopped the pickup as it was attempting to flee the property. The driver, 41-year-old Colin Apanel of Toms River, was issued a township ordinance violation for operating a vehicle on private property. A passenger inside the pickup, 24-year-old Troy Apanel of Beachwood, also received a township ordinance violation for being on the private property as well as a summons for breaking Clayton Gravel’s padlock. Another passenger in the pickup, 20-year-old Marissa Brooks of Beachwood, was issued a township ordinance violation for being on the private property.
- Recovered Handgun – On Sunday, June 16, 2013, at 4:00 a.m., the Lacey Township Police Department was notified by the Houston Police Department in Texas that they recovered a 357 Magnum handgun which was reported stolen in 1969 from Lacey Township. The gun was reportedly recovered at the scene of a dispute between two individuals in Houston.
- DUI Arrest – On Sunday, June 16, 2013, at 2:55 a.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas conducted a motor vehicle stop on Lacey Road near Trenton Avenue, Forked River upon a vehicle that was speeding and failing to maintain its lane of travel. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 22-year-old Kaitlyn Ferdon of Manahawkin, for DUI. She also received summonses for Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Failure to Maintain Lane. Kaitlyn Ferdon was processed and later released. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Theft from Residence – On Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 11:39 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to a residence located on the 300 block of Sinclair Avenue, Lanoka Harbor. The homeowner reported that sometime between 4:00 p.m. on June 6, 2013 and 12:00 p.m. on June 15, 2013, an unknown person or persons stole jewelry from within a bedroom inside the residence. There were no signs of a forced entry into the home. The total value of the stolen jewelry is estimated at $7,500.
- Assault – On Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 10:40 p.m., officers responded to the Captain’s Inn outside bar with a report of an assault. A 47-year-old female resident of Bayville reported that an unknown, white male with a goatee struck her three times in the face before leaving the area in a red pickup truck. The matter is under investigation.
- Drug Possession – Heroin (Arrest) – On Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 4:45 p.m., officers responded to Hebrew Park located in Lanoka Harbor to investigate a report that a male in the park may require medical attention. The officers encountered 20-year-old Joseph Ferenc of Forked River. It was determined he was not in need of medical attention. Further investigation led to Joseph Ferenc being arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Hypodermic needles. After being processed, Joseph Ferenc was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of $1,500 bail.
- Criminal Mischief to Vehicle – On Friday, June 14, 2013, at 4:13 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the parking lot of the Lacey Mall where he met with a resident of Manchester Township. While inside a store shopping for approximately 30 minutes, unknown actor(s) put two large scratches in different sections of the victim’s vehicle. The estimated damage to the vehicle’s finish is $500.
- Warrant Arrest – On Friday, June 14, 2013, at 5:52 p.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas arrested 29-year-old Candice Gianettino of Forked River on an outstanding Lacey Township warrant in the amount of $300. Candice Gianettino was released after posting the $300 bail at police headquarters.
- Criminal Mischief to Vehicle – On Friday, June 14, 2013, at 3:09 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota met with a residence of the 300 block of Alpine Street in Forked River. The resident reported that during the overnight hours of Thursday, June 13, 2013, into the morning hours of Friday, June 14, 2013, her vehicle was “keyed” while parked within the residence’s driveway. Several fresh scratches were visible on the vehicle’s paint. The estimated damage to the vehicle’s finish is $500.
- Warrant Arrest – On Friday, June 14, 2013, at 3:06 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick arrested 33-year-old Vincent Civile of Bayville on an outstanding Toms River warrant in the amount of $350. Officer Darrell Nick learned of the active warrant while investigating a motor vehicle accident involving Vincent Civile as a driver. Vincent Civile was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was released after posting the $350 bail.
- Burglary and Theft (Car) – On Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 4:00 p.m., a Forked River resident reported his cell phone as being stolen. The victim indicated he left his vehicle unlocked while parked at the Main Street Laundromat in Forked River. Upon reentering his vehicle, the victim discovered that his Apple I-Phone (valued at $599) was stolen.
- Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at 11:19 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer arrested 34-year-old Jessica Ussery of Lanoka Harbor on an outstanding Stafford Township warrant in the amount of $478. The arrest occurred during a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation during which Jessica Ussery was a passenger. Jessica Ussery was released from police headquarters after satisfying the warrant.
- Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at 10:57 p.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas arrested 24-year-old Candice Fassett of Toms River on an outstanding Manchester Township warrant in the amount of $400. Officer Dimitrios transferred Candice Fassett to the custody of the Manchester Police Department.
- Drug Paraphernalia (Arrest) – On Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at 8:43 p.m., Officer John McKee responded to a residence located on the 400 block of Beach Boulevard in Forked River. A member of the household reported finding drug paraphernalia and hypodermic syringes inside the residence. Investigation led to the arrest of 32-yer-old Michael Riley who resides at the same residence. He was charged with possessing two hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia. The charges were placed on a $2,500 warrant. An additional outstanding arrest warrant issued by Point Pleasant in the amount of $250 was also served upon him. Michael Riley was taken to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

- Theft from Residences (Arrest) – The Lacey Township Police Department Detective Bureau has concluded two theft investigations with the arrest of 24-year-old Brittney Gibson of Forked River. Brittany Gibson was charged with two counts of 3rd degree theft after allegedly stealing jewelry from different Forked River homes. Brittany Gibson reportedly took the items on separate occasions while visiting acquaintances at each home. The thefts occurred in July 2012 and April 2013. The thefts totaled more than $6,000. Brittany Gibson was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $25,000.
- Burglary and Theft (Car) -On Monday, June 10, 2013, at 7:36 p.m., Officer Charles May responded to the 600 block of Elwood Street in Forked River for a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim reported that sometime between 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 and 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013, an unknown person entered the unlocked vehicle which was parked in the roadway. Stolen from the vehicle was a black and white bag (value $35) containing school papers, and a lunch sack valued at $10.
- Shoplifting (Arrest) -On Monday, June 10, 2013, at 5:18 p.m., Officers Adam Ewart and Julie Barcalow responded to the Lacey Walmart concerning an adult male shoplifter who exited the store with merchandise. When the officers arrived they arrested 36-year-old Joseph Martinez of Lanoka Harbor in the store’s parking lot. Joseph Martinez is charged with stealing $174 worth of automotive supplies including an automotive battery and motor oil. At the time of his arrest, Joseph Martinez was actively attempting to install the stolen battery into the vehicle driven to Walmart. After being processed Joseph Martinez was released.
- Burglary of Residence – On Sunday, June 9, 2013, at 11:00 p.m., Officer John McKee responded to a residence located on the 600 block of Beach Boulevard in Forked River concerning a burglary of a residence. The resident reported leaving the home unoccupied for approximately six hours. Upon returning home, she discovered that the residence was forcibly entered. Items stolen from the residence included: Apple iPad 2 (value $800) and an Xbox Controller (value $25).
- DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 10:17 p.m., Officer Charles May conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 N in front of the Oyster Creek Power Plant. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 45-year-old Ann Hudak of South Toms River, NJ, for DUI. She was processed and later released.
- Stolen Vehicle – False Report (Arrest) -On Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 7:55 a.m., a resident of the 900 block of Capstan Drive in Forked River reported his vehicle stolen from his driveway. Officer Peter Donahue responded to the residence and met with the stolen vehicle’s owner, John Dykhouse. John Dykhouse indicated he left his 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier unlocked with its keys in the ignition at the time of the vehicle theft. On June 7, 2013, at 12:30 p.m., the aforementioned Chevrolet Cavalier was located, undamaged, in the parking lot of 7-11, 403 Route 9, Lanoka Harbor, NJ. Investigation by Officer Peter Donahue led to a determination that the vehicle was not stolen. John Dykhouse, age 50, of Forked River was charged on a criminal summons with filing a false police report.
- Shoplifting and Warrants (Arrest) – On Friday, June 7, 2013, at 11:56 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the Lacey Walmart for a shoplifting complaint. Upon arrival of officers, 42-year-old Kara Pabers of Barnegat was arrested for shoplifting merchandise valued at $350. Investigation revealed Kara Pabers also had three outstanding warrants for her arrest. These warrants included: A No-Bail Warrant issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and two Point Pleasant Beach Warrants in the amounts of $500 and $250. Officer Noah Schaffer served Kara Pabers with a $25,000 warrant for shoplifting at the Lacey Walmart and she remains detained in default of the bail.
- Burglary and Theft (Car) -On Friday June 7, 2013, at 7:58 a.m., Officer Ronald Buxton responded to the 1500 block of Claire Road in Forked River for a report of theft from a motor vehicle. The victim reported that sometime between 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013 and 7:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013, an unknown person entered the unlocked vehicle which was parked in the roadway. Items stolen from the vehicle included: a Garmin Nuvi GPS (value $150) and a new pair of Vans sneakers (value $50).
- Shoplifting (Arrest) -On Friday, June 7, 2013, at 12:48 a.m., Officer George Resetar responded to the Wawa, located at 701 Route 9 N in Lanoka Harbor concerning a shoplifter. Upon arrival at the Wawa, 30-year-old Justin Nelsen of Waretown was arrested for shoplifting food items. Justin Nelsen was released from custody after being processed.
- Warrant (Arrest) -On Friday, June 7, 2013, at 7:29 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer arrested 32-year-old Robert Ellingham of Forked River on an outstanding South River Borough warrant. Robert Ellingham was able to post his bail and be released.
- Warrant (Arrest) -On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 1:46 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick arrested 20-year-old Michael Cannito of Forked River on an outstanding No-Bail Warrant issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. Officer Charles May was actively working a traffic detail and spotted Michael Cannito walking on Warren Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. Officer Charles May alerted Officer Darrell Nick who then located and arrested Michael Cannito who was transported to the Ocean County Jail.
- DUI (Arrest) – On Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 4:45 a.m., Officer George Resetar was dispatched to the parking lot of Wawa, 800 Lacey Road in Forked River on a report of a possible intoxicated driver currently parked haphazardly in the lot. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 65-year-old James Devery of Forked River for DUI. He was processed and later released.
- BIAS Harassment (Arrest) – On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 10:37 p.m., police officers responded to a report of a verbal argument occurring within a stopped New Jersey Transit bus. The responding officers located the bus stopped on Route 9 near Beach Boulevard in Forked River. The investigating officers determined that a female passenger on the bus, 31-year-old Jamie Pfeiffer of Barnegat, was arguing with the bus driver and a passenger. During the argument, Jamie Pfeiffer reportedly directed offensive racial slurs toward a male, African American passenger who was offended. Jamie Pfeiffer was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. At headquarters she was processed and released after being charged with Bias Intimidation and Harassment.

- Underage Possession & Consumption of Alcohol – On Saturday, June 1, 2013, Officer Kymberly Gudgeon and Michael Eden responded to the 500 block of Dugout Court for a loud party. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 19 year-old Alyssa Statile of Lanoka Harbor for underage possession of alcohol. She was released at the scene after being served with a criminal summons. The homeowner, Debra Fenton, was issued a criminal summons for making property available to underage persons for the consumption of alcohol.
- Underage Possession & Consumption of Alcohol – The Lacey Township Police Department has responded to numerous parties over the past month involving the underage consumption of alcohol by teenagers as young as 14 years of age. Both adult and juvenile charges have been filed related to several incidents. At least three incidents have involved teens being transported to the hospital for treatment related to over intoxication. The Lacey Township Police Department will pursue charges against any person who either provides alcohol to underage persons or makes property available to underage persons for the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Burglary and Theft (Car) – On Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 1:35 a.m., Officers Evan Androcy and Robert Duffy responded to the 300 block of Lawrence Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim reported that a teenage, white male entered her unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the residence and stole a small amount of cash. When the suspect was discovered by the neighbor, he fled the area on foot.
- Burglary and Theft (Car) – On Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 9:17 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the 400 block of Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor for a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim reported that sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, an unknown person entered her unlocked vehicle that was parked at the residence and stole prescription medications valued at $155.
- Theft from Residence & Criminal Mischief – On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 4:18 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the 500 block of Cedarwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that sometime between March 14, 2013, and May 20, 2013, an unknown person stole an air conditioning compressor unit from the exterior of a residence valued at $2000. Criminal Mischief to the residence was valued at $500.
- Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 8:09 a.m., 36 year-old Matthew Brennan of Lanoka Harbor was arrested by Officer Darrell Nick on an outstanding Ocean Township (Waretown) warrant for $1,039. M. Brennan was unable to post bail and was transported by the Ocean Township Police Department to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of his bail.
- Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 3:04 p.m., Detectives Robert Surtees and Samuel Della Sala, responded to the 600 block of Chelsea Street in Forked River to serve an arrest warrant. 24-year-old Shannon Augustino of Forked River was arrested on an outstanding Lacey Township warrant for $2,500 for theft. She was processed and transported to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of her bail.
- Theft – On Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 7:57 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to the 200 block of Chestnut Lane, Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, May 30, 2013, someone stole her black travel bag off of the front porch. The bag contained various items with a total value of $170.
- Drug Arrest – On Thursday, May 30, 2013, at approximately 8:37 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota observed two suspicious males outside a Route 9 business in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 26-year-old Eric Thatcher of Lanoka Harbor on an outstanding Beachwood warrant for $200. E. Thatcher was also charged with Possession of CDS and Possession of a Hypodermic needle. Further investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old Anthony Benoit of Bayville for Possession of CDS and Possession of Hypodermic needles. Both subjects were charged with the above offenses and lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail each.
- Theft from a Residence (Arrest) – On Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11:54 a.m., Officer Paul Sullivan met with the victim in regard to a theft from her residence located on the 1700 block of Evans Road in Forked River. The victim stated that during the past few days, approximately $10,000 in jewelry was stolen from her residence. Officer Sullivan conducted his investigation and charged 32-year-old Janai Wilson of Forked River with the theft. Janai Wilson was processed and released after receiving a criminal summons.
- Burglary and Theft (Car) – On Friday May 31, 2013, at 4:19 p.m., Officer Adam Ewart responded to the 800 block of Oxgoose Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a car burglary. The victim stated that sometime between 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, and 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013, an unknown person entered his unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway and stole cash and a GPS with a total value of $700.
- Criminal Mischief – On Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 8:18 a.m., Officer Peter Donahue responded to the 200 block of Plumstead Court in Lanoka Harbor for criminal mischief to a vehicle. The victim reported that sometime between 12:04. a.m. and 12:55 a.m., three (3) young males, no further description, caused damage to his vehicle totaling less than $500.
- Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, June 1, 2013, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Officer Peter Donahue conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 near Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a passenger, 27-year-old Shannon Bane 3rd (male) of Ocean Gate for two outstanding warrants. Warrant #1 was issued by Berkeley Township and was for $350.00. Warrant # 2 was issued by Ocean Gate and was for $800. Shannon Bane was transported to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of his bail.

- Drug Arrest and Warrants (Arrest) – On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at approximately 2:22 p.m., Officer Joseph Soto conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of a Lacey Road business. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a passenger, identified as 33-year-old Rebecca Scott of Whiting, NJ, on three outstanding warrants. The warrants included: (1) Hackensack, NJ, in the amount of $2500; (2) an additional warrant from Hackensack in the amount of $1000; and (3) a warrant out of Robbinsville, NJ, in the amount of $500. During her arrest, she was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Rebecca Scott was charged with the Possession of Drug Paraphernalia on a criminal summons and released after posting bail.
- Criminal Mischief – On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at 5:35 p.m., Officer Alan Abrecht responded to the 1200 block of Olds Street for criminal mischief to two separate vehicles. The victim stated that between the evening hours of May 13, 2013, and the early afternoon of May 14, 2013, someone threw eggs at a vehicle parked at his residence. A second vehicle at the residence was keyed. Total damage is estimated at $100.
- Drug Incident (Arrest) – On Wednesday, May 15, 2013, Lacey Township Police Department Detectives witnessed a suspicious incident consistent with drug activity. As they approached the suspect, he immediately fled on foot from a Route 9 commercial parking lot. During the foot chase, the suspect dropped several items consistent with heroin packaging. Detective Brian Flynn continued to chase the fleeing suspect on foot. The suspect, Pedro Marcano, Forked River, was caught by Detective Flynn and taken into custody near the Home Depot. During his arrest, 22-year-old P. Marcano was found in possession of additional bags of heroin as well as cocaine in his possession. P. Marcano provided the investigating detectives with a false name and address at the time of his arrest. P. Marcano was charged with Possession of CDS, Obstructing Justice, Resisting Arrest, and Hindering His Own Apprehension. P. Marcano was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. Shortly after being released from the Ocean County Jail, P. Marcano was arrested for a no-bail warrant for a violation of parole regulations.
- Shoplifter (Arrest) – On Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 4:36 p.m., Officers Charles May and Peter Donahue responded to the Lacey Walmart for a shoplifter. Upon their arrival, 24-year-old Matthew Krauss of Forked River was arrested for shoplifting merchandise valued at $67.85. Matthew Krauss was later processed and released after receiving a criminal summons.
- Criminal Mischief to a Residence – On Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 11:07 p.m., Officer Adam Ewart responded to the 300 block of Yorktown Drive in Forked River for malicious damage to the residence by unknown person(s). The resident reported that just prior to contacting the Lacey Police; items consisting of glass bottles and a glass decoration were thrown at his house shattering a front window. The damage is estimated at $500.
- Burglary of a Residence (Handgun Stolen) – On Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 11:48 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow responded to the 900 block of Clifton Street in Forked River for a residential burglary. The victims reported that unknown person(s) entered their residence when they were not home and stole various items. One of the items stolen was a black, Ruger, 357 revolver (handgun) with brown grips. The investigation is being conducted by Detective Brian Flynn.
- Auto Burglary and Theft (Arrest) – On Friday, May 17, 2013, at approximately 3:29 a.m., Officers Julie Barcalow, John McKee, and Charles May responded to the 500 block of Alpine St for a car burglary. The caller reported that he observed two females burglarizing his vehicle and when he approached them, they fled on foot. A small amount of property was stolen from the vehicle. A description of the suspects was provided and officers began checking the area. A short time later, the investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Alyssa Hunter of Forked River and 18-year-old Victoria Maulbeck of Forked River. They were both charged with Burglary and Theft and released after processing.
- Auto Burglary and Theft – On Friday, May 17, 2013, at 11:57 a.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to the 600 block of Taylor Ave, Forked River, for a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim stated that between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on May 17, 2013, someone entered his unlocked vehicle that was parked at the residence and stole a Serious Satellite Radio valued at $70.00.
- Shoplifter (Arrest) – On Friday, May 17, 2013, at 5:51 p.m., Officer Charles May responded to the Lacey Walmart for a shoplifter. Upon arrival, 26-year-old Richard Payton of Manahawkin, NJ, was arrested for shoplifting merchandise valued at $288.80. Richard Payton was later processed and released after receiving a criminal summons.
- Auto Burglary and Theft (Arrest Warrant Issued) – On Saturday, May 18, 2013, Patrol Officer Peter Donahue concluded an investigation regarding a car burglary report he initially received on Friday, May 10, 2013. More specifically, the initial report involved not only items stolen from a vehicle on the 700 block of Oxford Road in Lanoka Harbor, but also the theft of copper from the exterior of the home totaling $975. Officer Donahue charged 22-year-old Dominick J. DeGasperi of Waretown, NJ, with Burglary and Theft on a criminal warrant. The warrant was issued for his arrest with bail set at $25,000. At the time of this release, 22-year-old Dominick J. DeGasperi of Waretown, NJ, is wanted on the outstanding warrant.
- Theft from Residence – On Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 2:25 p.m., Officer Jeff Slota took a report of theft from a victim who was a past Lacey Township resident who previously resided on Frog Hollow Road in Forked River. The victim reported that approximately $22,000.00 in jewelry was taken from the residence sometime between June and November 2012. The investigation is continuing.
- Drug Incident (Arrest) – On Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 11:14 p.m., Patrol Officers Evan Androcy and Robert Duffy responded to the Meadowlark Beach in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the officers located a parked vehicle which contained two occupants. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 18-year-old Christopher Dishon of Forked River for Possession of Marijuana – 50 grams or less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released after receiving a criminal summons.
NOTE: The remaining unsolved car burglaries are under investigation to determine if the various individuals arrested for similar offenses are responsible for the remainder of the yet unsolved incidents.
As evidenced by the incidents documented above and others that cannot be released at this time, the uniformed patrol officers did an exceptional job in conducting follow-up investigations.
