  • Burglary and Theft – On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to Lakeside Drive North in reference to a burglary of a residence. The resident reported that between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, an unknown actor or actors entered the unsecured residence while no one was home and stole property that included a digital camera and a laptop computer. The value of the theft was estimated at $1,250.
  • Criminal Mischief – On Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 3:48 p.m., a resident of Bobwhite Court in Forked River reported that on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at approximately 6:00 p.m., he was walking the rail-trail, south of Wawa on Taylor Lane, and noticed some criminal mischief. The resident reported that two posts, that prevent vehicles from crossing the bridge, were pulled from the ground and thrown into the creek. The posts could be seen in the water from the bridge but were unable to be retrieved. Damage is estimated at $100.
  • Theft – On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at 2:55 p.m., a resident of Forked River reported that he left his bicycle chained to the rope and pilings that run along the south side of the Caffrey’s Tavern parking lot some time before September 17, 2013.   The bicycle’s owner stated that the bike was secured there for a few days and was noticed missing as after September 17, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. The bike is described as a 19.5″ Trek 3700 Mountain bike, acid gold in color, with a bent left handle bar (serial# SWTU096C1541D). The value is listed at $374.
  • Possession and Use of CDS and Warrants (Arrest) – On Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 8:17 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to a Pine Street residence in Lanoka Harbor to serve a warrant and a summons on 41-year-old Lorraine Schuster after receiving lab results that tested positive for Oxycodone as a result of an incident that occurred on March 2, 2013 at a Bowsprit Point residence in Lanoka Harbor. Back on March 2, 2013, Officer Evan Androcy had responded to that residence in reference to a complaint that Lorraine Schuster was smoking a controlled dangerous substance in the residence through a pen tube. The physical evidence was turned over to Officer Androcy at the scene and any charges were pending the return of lab results. On September 25, 2013, Lorraine Schuster was served with a complaint-summons for possession of drug paraphernalia and a complaint-warrant for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Judge Damian Murray set bail at $10,000 on the complaint-warrant. Lorraine Schuster was transported to police headquarters and was fingerprinted and photographed. She was unable to post bail and was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility. Lorraine Schuster was also found to have an outstanding $750 warrant out of Lacey Township Court for driving while intoxicated and a $500 Brick Township Warrant for careless driving. Lorraine Schuster was also issued a summons for driving while suspended. The total bail for all outstanding warrants was $11,250.
  • Theft from a Residence (Arrest) – On Wednesday, September 25, 2013, detectives arrested 22-year-old Michael Corliss, Jr. of Constitution Drive in Forked River for a theft from a residence initially reported on Monday, September 9, 2013. A resident of Constitution Drive reported several items missing from his home, one being an antique coin set valued at $4,000. The investigation led to the arrest of a Michael Corliss, Jr., age 22, who allegedly stole the coins while residing with the victim and later sold them. Corliss was charged by detectives with theft and released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.
  • Burglary and Theft – On Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 11:39 a.m., Officer Peter Donahue and Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to a Chestnut Drive, Lanoka Harbor, residence in reference to a burglary and theft. The resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours some person(s) stole a tree stand and hunting blind from a motor home. The motor home was left unlocked and was parked in the driveway of the residence. The total value of the stolen property is $150.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 10:22 p.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas was investigating an aggravated assault when he located a warrant for 24-year-old Thomas Schramm of Central Avenue in Waretown. Thomas Schramm was arrested for the $1,184 out of Little Egg Harbor Township and was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters. He was unable to post bail and was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
  • Possession of Heroin with the Intent to Distribute (Arrests) – On Thursday evening, September 26, 2013, detectives from the Lacey Township Police Department witnessed a suspicious transaction in a local parking lot. The observation led to further investigation which culminated in a traffic stop being conducted on Lacey Road in Forked River. The investigation led to the seizure of 438 bags containing heroin. The driver, 18-year-old Eric Anderson of Dolphin Court in Forked River, passenger, 21-year-old Jamie O’Kane of Forked River, and passenger 30-year-old Kevin Kennedy of Waretown were arrested. Each was charged with Possession of Heroin, Intent to Distribute Heroin, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. All of the subjects were lodged in the Ocean County Jail in default of $100,000 bail each. The street value of the heroin is estimated at nearly $5,000.
  • Theft (Arrest) – On Thursday, September 26, 2013, at 7:57 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to a report of a bicycle having been stolen from the Lacey Township High School bike rack. The bicycle’s owner reported that his Diamond Back, 18-speed, mountain bike was stolen from the bike rack in front of the main entrance of the Lacey Twp High School on Thursday, September 26, 2013. Upon leaving school at approximately 1:45 p.m., he noticed the bicycle was missing. The bicycle was valued at $330. Further investigation led to the arrest of 18-year-old Timothy Vecci of Hazelton Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. Timothy Vecci was charged with theft and released on a summons.
  • Possession of CDS (Arrest) – On Thursday, September 26, 2013, at 8:53 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy and Officer Peter Donahue, were dispatched to a Clairmore Avenue residence for a report of a dispute. Two persons present reported having observed  20-year-old Alyssa Thomas of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor using drugs via hypodermic needle while in the residence. Upon speaking with Alyssa Thomas, she was obviously impaired and at times was nodding out. An ambulance was summoned to the scene. A needle and plastic bottle cap was turned over to the officers. The Lanoka Harbor First Aid Squad responded to the scene and treated Alyssa Thomas, who then became very aggressive and belligerent. She was placed under arrest but refused to comply and needed to be restrained. She was transported to the hospital for treatment and was charged with possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle, and resisting arrest.
  • Possession of CDS (Arrests) – On Friday, September 27, 2013, Officer Dimitri Tsarnas responded to the boat ramp near Riverview Road in reference to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival he observed a black Saturn Ion, occupied by two people, parked near the woods. Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Tsarnas detected an odor of burnt marijuana and observed smoke billowing out of the front passenger side window. The vehicle was occupied by two 17-year old juveniles from Forked River. A bowl containing marijuana, a multi-colored glass smoking device, and a silver metallic grinder were observed in plain view and were seized. Both juveniles were transported to police headquarters where they were released to their parents. Juvenile charges were prepared for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The vehicle operator was also charged with a motor vehicle summons for possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 5:14 p.m., Officer Robert Flynn and Special Officer Russell Moller responded to the area of Seabright Road in Forked River for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Special Officer Russell Moller stopped the vehicle and located a $106 Beachwood Borough warrant for the passenger, 22-year-old Andrew P. Jones of Kettle Creek Road in Toms River. Andrew Jones was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he posted $106 full cash bail.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 10:49 p.m., Special Officer Travis Horton conducted a vehicle registration check which indicated that the registered owner, 47-year-old Daniel Conklin of Branchport Avenue in Long Branch, had a suspended driver’s license. Special Officer Travis Horton stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Daniel Conklin for an outstanding $500 Little Egg Harbor Township warrant. Daniel Conklin was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he posted bail. Daniel Conklin was issued a summons for driving while suspended and was released.
  • DWI (Arrest) – On Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 2:12 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas stopped a vehicle for failure to maintain lane. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 42-year-old Edward Jasovsky of Brook Lane in Hamilton, NJ, for DUI. His vehicle was impounded as per John’s Law. Edward Javosky was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquaters, where he refused to provide samples of his breath. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, failure to exhibit registration card, and failure to wear seatbelt.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, September 29, 2013, at 3:34 p.m., Special Officer Travis Horton stopped a suspicious male walking near the intersection of Lake Barnegat Drive North and Stony Point Drive in Forked River. Upon speaking with the subject, 32-year-old Michael A. Polley of Toler Place in Newark, NJ, it was determined that he had an outstanding $1,612 West Berlin Township warrant. He was arrested and transported to Lacey Township police headquarters. Michael A. Polley was processed and then released on his own recognizance as per the West Berlin Township Court.
  • Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 11:30 p.m., Officer Kymberly Gudgeon responded to 403 Decker Court for a report of criminal mischief.  The homeowners reported that an unknown motorist caused damage to a portable basketball hoop located on the front lawn of the residence by driving over the hoop. A neighbor observed a vehicle, possibly a Ford Ranger pickup silver or gray in color with a loud muffler, leaving the area.  The area was checked with negative results.  The damage is estimated to be $250.
  • Shoplifting – On Monday, September 30, 2013 at 2:37 p.m., Officer Peter Donahue and Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the Walmart store in reference to a shoplifter that had been stopped by a loss prevention officer. 20-year-old Victoria Mackie of Waretown was reported to have attempted to leave the store without paying for three shirts. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was processed and released on a summons pending a court date.

  • Criminal Mischief – On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at 10:01 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick took a report of criminal mischief to a 1992, Gray, GMC Suburban while it was parked in the roadway in front of 220 Lane Place in Forked River. The victim reported that sometime between the overnight hours of Sunday, September 8, 2013 into September 9, 2013, an unknown person or persons damaged the driver side mirror on his vehicle that was parked in the street in front of his house. The estimated damage is $200.
  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at 12:13 a.m., Officer Alan Abrecht responded to the Wawa (Route 9 and Taylor Lane) in reference to a theft. An employee stated that a male and female walked into the store together and then while the employee was distracted, the male subject reached over the counter and grabbed a carton of Marlboro Red cigarettes. The male subject then exited a store and fled the scene in a white Kia driven by another female. Officers were able to identify the suspect as 22-year-old Ryan Territo of 29 Poplar Street in Waretown. The female walking in with him was identified as a 20-year-old resident of Main Street in Forked River. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 20-year-old female from Oakwood Drive in Forked River. Officers located and spoke with both female subjects, who denied knowing that Ryan Territo was going to steal cigarettes. Officers located and interviewed Ryan Territo who was subsequently arrested, processed, and released on a summons for shoplifting.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 6:27 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban responded to a parking complaint which involved a vehicle parked in front of 1809 Lakeside Drive South in Forked River. While conducting the investigation, a $2,500 warrant out of South River Municipal Court was located for the resident, Frank Pezzuti. Frank Pezzuti was advised of the parking complaint and then placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant. Frank Pezzuti was transported to Lacey Police Headquarters and at 10:26 p.m. was turned over to the South River Police Department.
  • Burglary (Business) – On Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at 10:18 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to 44 Manchester Avenue, Suite M, in reference to a burglary and theft. The victim stated that sometime between 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, an unknown actor or actors forcefully pried open the rear door of the business, breaking the door handle, to gain entrance to the suite. Stolen items include a Makita Hammer drill, Makita masonry saw, and a diamond blade. The value of the theft is estimated at $2,400.
  • Burglary (Residential) – On Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 2:32 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to 316 Predmore Avenue for a residential burglary. The victim stated that sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013, an unknown person or persons forced entry into her residence by cutting a screen on a rear window and entering the house. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole $1,600 in property. The items stolen included a teal HP 15.6” G-6 laptop computer; two Xbox 360 game consoles; and an Astro headset equipped with a microphone.
  • DUI & Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, September 20, 2013, at 12:37 a.m., Officers Andrew Slota and Evan Androcy responded to Pheasant Run (retirement community) in reference to a dark Nissan Maxima driving carelessly in the area. The officers located the vehicle which was stopped on Lakeside Drive South with a flat front tire. The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Kristal Boldman of 890 Salem Drive in Toms River, was incoherent. During the course of the investigation, a warrant out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and a warrant out of Tinton Falls were located. Kristal Boldman was arrested for DUI and the outstanding warrants and then transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters. Kristal Boldman refused to provide breath samples. She was processed and then transported to the Ocean County Jail in default of the warrants.
  • Criminal Mischief – On Friday, September 20, 2013, Officers Adam Ewart and Keith Pearce responded to 730 Lacey Road in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief to an office building which was called in by employees. The glass window and glass door to Dr. Lisa Vernon’s office had been shattered by an unknown projectile. Upon checking the building, Dr. Lisa Vernon indicated that nothing else appeared to have been damaged and nothing had been stolen. The damage is estimated at $1,342.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, September 20, 2013, at 1:32 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban responded to 13 South Street, Lanoka Harbor, to serve an active $500 Lacey Township Warrant on Gary V. Clark, Jr. Upon arrival, Special Officer Jesse Urban made contact with Gary V. Clark, Jr. and placed him under arrest. He was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, September 20, 2013, at 9:17 p.m., Special Officer Travis Horton observed 21-year-old William C. Fisher 3rd of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River inside the Wawa at 444 S. Main Street in Forked River. Special Officer Travis Horton was aware that William C. Fisher 3rd had an active $700 Lacey Township Warrant. William Fisher 3rd was positively identified and then placed under arrest. William Fisher 3rd was unable to post bail and was subsequently transported to the Ocean County Jail in default of bail.
  • Theft – On Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 1:21 a.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to 1419 Circle Drive in Forked River in reference to a theft. The victim stated that sometime between June 2013 and Saturday, September 21, 2013, someone stole the air conditioner compressor from the side of the residence. The house is a rental property and had been vacant. The value of the stolen property is estimated at $1,200.
  • Theft – On Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 11:37 a.m., Officer John Simonson responded to 313 Merrimac Road in reference to a theft. The caller stated that someone stole his moped from his unsecured garage sometime between Sunday, September 1, 2013 and Sunday, September 22, 2013. The victim was unable to provide a make, model, or serial number. The description given was an older model moped with a large black bicycle seat and dual kickstand. The moped is valued at $250.
  • Criminal Mischief – On Monday, September 23, 2013 at 9:30 a.m., Officer John Simonson responded to 13 Ambermist Way in Forked River in reference to a report of graffiti. A Toll Brothers’ employee reported that an unknown person or persons spray painted graffiti around the construction site sometime during the overnight hours. The suspect(s) utilized spray paint that had been left at the construction site by Toll Brothers employees. The suspects spray painted two houses, a sign, a dump truck, and the roadway. The damage is estimated at $250.
  • DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, September 20, 2013 at 10:25 p.m., Special Officer Michael Hutman conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 North near South Street for failure to maintain a lane. Special Officer Hutman first observed the vehicle when it failed to stop at the stop sign on Railroad Avenue as it turned right onto South Street heading east toward Route 9. The driver, Kimberly Williams of Korman Road in Bayville was driving the black, 2002, Hyundai Elantra. Officer Kymberly Gudgeon arrived and handled the investigation. K. Williams was arrested for DUI and charged with the following summonses: DUI, DUI Refusal, Suspended Driver License, Reckless Driving, Failure to maintain a lane, and Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in a Vehicle.
  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Monday, September 23, 2013 at 4:28 p.m., Officer Charles May responded to the Walmart at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of shoplifting. Officer May met with Loss Prevention employee who explained that he had surveillance video of an unknown white male walking through the store concealing merchandise in two bins that he had placed in a shopping cart. The subject was observed on Monday, September 9, 2013, exiting the store where he proceeded to his vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle registration observed came back to a different vehicle. The actor is described as a white male, in his middle 30’s, medium build, average height, wearing a black shirt and tan shorts. Some of the items that were identified in the cart were a Keter 22 inch tool box ($17.84), an Ozark Trail sleeping bag ($14.97), a Russell black hooded sweatshirt ($17.72), and an SUV truck tool box ($39.98), with a total value of $90.51. The matter is under investigation.

  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 8:00 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the 700 block of Joseph Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim stated that sometime between August 30, 2013 and September 9, 2013, an unknown person entered the residence and stole approximately $5,000.00 dollars in jewelry and cash.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 9:40 a.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to the 700 block of Lake Barnegat Drive North in Lanoka Harbor for criminal mischief. The victim reported that sometime between the evening of Monday, September 9, 2013 and 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, an unknown person(s) broke the passenger-side window of their vehicle that was parked in the street. The damage is estimated at $500.
  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 10:09 a.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to the 800 block of Oxgoose Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that sometime between June 18, 2013 and September 10, 2013, an unknown person or persons forced entry into the residence and removed all of the copper inside valued at approximately $25,000.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 10:43 a.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to the 700 block of Eagleswood Avenue in Forked River for criminal mischief. The victim reported that sometime between Sunday, September 8, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., and Monday, September 9, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., an unknown person(s) broke the driver’s-side mirror to his vehicle that was parked in the street directly in front of the residence. Damage is estimated at $50.
  • Trespassing (Formal Complaints) – On Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 4:13 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota was patrolling the JCP&L powerlines at 5001 Lacey Road in Forked River when he observed a vehicle with several subjects standing near it. Investigation at the scene determined that all subjects were trespassing. They were identified as 20-year-old Joseph Appolonia of Chelsea Street in Forked River; 29-year-old Jason Russo of Royal Court in Middletown; 25-year-old Nicole Sweeney of Jasmine Court in Mays Landing, NJ; and 24-year-old Jeffrey Lentz, Jr. of Pershing Avenue in Forked River. Each was issued a summons for Defiant Trespassing. They were released at the scene.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 7:32 p.m., Officer Alan Abrecht responded to the 900 block of Center Street in Forked River for criminal mischief. The victim reported that sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013, an unknown person or persons broke the driver-side mirror on his vehicle that was parked in the street in front of the residence. Damage is estimated at $25.
  • Theft (Business) – On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 8:42 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the Forked River House Plaza at 121 Route 9 South in Forked River for a theft. The complainant stated that just prior to contacting this agency, he observed a white van parked with two Hispanic male subjects in the rear of the building near the dumpsters. The van left prior to police arrival. The complainant stated upon checking the area, he observed that the suspects stole cooking oil from a cooking oil bin that was outside. A representative of the cooking oil company responded and determined that $383.50 worth of cooking oil was stolen. In addition, $89.50 worth of damage was done to the cooking oil bin when the suspects forced it open.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 8:55 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the 700 block of Oxford Road in Lanoka Harbor for criminal mischief. The victim reported that sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2013 and 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, an unknown person or persons damaged the driver-side mirror on two separate vehicles that were parked in the street in front of the residence. Damage is estimated at $500 each to replace each mirror.
  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 9:57 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson received a report of a theft that occurred on the 1800 block of Ravine Drive in Forked River. The victim reported that sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered her unlocked vehicle and stole approximately $55 worth of compact discs and cash.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the 400 block of Lake Barnegat Drive North in Forked River for criminal mischief. The victim reported that sometime between 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, and 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, an unknown person or persons damaged the driver-side mirror of a vehicle that was parked in the street in front of the residence. Damage is estimated at $400.
  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 5:16 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to headquarters in reference to a theft that occurred on the 300 block of Predmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. The victim reported that sometime between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered her unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway and stole a bag containing personal items and prescription medications; the value of the items was reported as $376.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 8:30 p.m., Officer Alan Abrecht responded to the 1200 block of Tamarack Road in Forked River for criminal mischief. The victim reported that sometime between 8:00 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, an unknown person “sliced” the right rear tire on her vehicle while it was parked at a business located on the 100 block of Route 9 South in Forked River. The damage is estimated at $200 to replace the tire.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 4:50 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban responded to the 600 block of Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River for criminal mischief. The victim reported that sometime between 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, and 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013, an unknown person or persons sliced the tires of three (3) separate vehicles that were parked at the residence. Damage is estimated at $659 to replace the three tires.
  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Thursday, September 12, 2013, at approximately 5:32 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban conducted a traffic stop on Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, Frederick Creutz, of Pine Forest Lane in Forked River for Possession of Marijuana. F. Creutz was transported to headquarters, processed, and released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana. He was also issued a traffic summons for littering from a motor vehicle.
  • DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, September 13, 2013, at 1:15 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 43-year-old Dawn Milkosky of Berkeley Avenue in Beachwood for DUI. She was transported to headquarters, processed, and released on traffic summonses including DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle Dawn Milkosky was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Shoplifting and Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, September 13, 2013, at 1:04 p.m., Officer Peter Donahue responded to Kohl’s department store at 304 Route 9 North in Forked River for two shoplifters in custody. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 48-year-old Ralph Woodcock of Maple Tree in Manahawkin and 47-year-old Kelly Leonard of Wells Mills Road in Waretown for shoplifting offenses. They were both transported to police headquarters. Kelly Leonard was processed and released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting merchandise valued at $249. Ralph Woodcock was processed and charged on a complaint warrant with shoplifting merchandise valued at $249. Bail for this offense was set at $1,500. He was also found to have two (2) outstanding warrants for his arrest including a warrant from Beachwood in the amount of $500 and a warrant from Little Egg Harbor for $500. Ralph Woodcock was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of his bail.
  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Friday, September 13, 2013, at 2:56 p.m., Special Officer Travis Horton responded to the 300 block of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that sometime between the morning and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013, an 18-30 inch 18 carat gold necklace with an “Infinity” charm was stolen from the top of the dresser in her bedroom. There were no signs of forced entry. Total theft is $520.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, September 13, 2013, at 5:30 p.m., Special Officer Russell Moller responded to Station Drive in Forked River for a speeding complaint. During Special Officer Moller’s investigation, he responded to a Mill Street address to speak with the resident in regard to the traffic complaint. While investigating the incident, Special Officer Moller was advised that an occupant of the residence, identified as 27-year-old Anthony Fuschino of South Indian Valley Court in Little Egg Harbor had an outstanding Lacey Township Warrant for $500. Anthony Fuschino was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. He was unable to post bail and was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
  • Theft – On Friday, September 13, 2013, at 9:16 p.m., Officer John McKee responded to the 1200 block of Maui Drive in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported that sometime between Monday, September 9, 2013 at 6:00 a.m. and Friday, September 13, 2013, at 9:10 p.m., an unknown person or persons stole his white, 2009, Suzuki 750 Motorcycle (NJ Registration U1ER6) that was parked in the driveway. The victim stated that he believed the motorcycle was not driven away because there were drag marks. A neighbor advised that she recalled seeing a flatbed tow truck in the area, possibly on the evening of Tuesday, September 10, 2103, and someone walking around the residence with a flashlight. The motorcycle is valued at $7,000.
  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Friday, September 13, 2013, at 9:31 p.m., Officer Joseph Soto conducted a traffic stop on Nautilus Boulevard. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a 15-year-old male passenger from Forked River for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was charged on a juvenile complaint and released. Additional charges are pending.
  • Assault & Hindering an Investigation (Arrests) – On Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 12:32 a.m., Officer John McKee responded to an East Lacey Road address in reference to an unconscious male. The 26-year-old victim did not regain consciousness at the scene and was flown to the Jersey Shore Trauma Center. The investigation revealed that the victim was assaulted while in the residence. As a result of the investigation, 26-year-old Luis Jenis of Lakehurst Road in Toms River was arrested and charged with Assault and Hindering Apprehension. In addition, 39-year-old Marino Carpinteiro-Estevez of East Lacey Road in Forked River was charged with Hindering Apprehension. They were both charged on complaint summonses and released. Detective Robert Surtees and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office assisted in the investigation.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 11:57 a.m., Officers Peter Donahue and John Simonson responded to a Cedar Drive, Lanoka Harbor residence, and arrested 51- year-old Rocco Selig of Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor on an outstanding Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Child Support Warrant for $27,921.84. Rocco Selig was unable to post bail and was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
  • Underage Possession/Consumption of Alcohol and making Property Available for Underage Consumption (Arrests) – On Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 9:41 p.m., Officer Kym Gudgeon along with Special Officers Travis Horton and Russell Moller, responded to the 500 block of Cedarwood Drive in Forked River for  a loud party complaint. Investigation at the scene led to a 14-year-old female from Forked River being taken into custody for Underage Consumption of Alcohol. She was later released at the scene to her father. She was charged on a juvenile complaint with the offense. In addition, a second 16-years-old, juvenile female from Forked River was taken into custody for Underage Consumption of Alcohol. She was charged on a juvenile complaint and was released to her mother at the scene. The homeowner, identified as 46-year-old Jon Gaffney, Cedarwood Drive in Forked River was charged on a summons for Making Property Available for the Underage Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages. Jon Gaffney was released at the scene.
  • DUI with Accident (Arrest) – On Sunday, September 15, 2013, at 1:59 a.m., Officer Kymberly Gudgeon responded to the area of 504 Route 9 North near the entrance to Walmart for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving an overturned vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 20-year-old Eleison McHugh of Rabbit Court in Whiting, NJ, for DUI. She was transported to headquarters and processed. Eleison McHugh was later released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Underage DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle Eleison McHugh was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, September 15, 2013, at 6:24 p.m., Officers John Simonson and Keith Pearce responded to a business located on the 400 block of Route 9 North for an intoxicated male. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Alan Scola of Enterprise Drive in Forked River for DUI. He was transported to headquarters and processed. He was later released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving. Alan Scola was also charged with having a minor in his vehicle while operating a vehicle under the influence. The vehicle Alan Scola was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Sunday, September 15, 2013, at 8:39 p.m., Officer Kymberly Gudgeon responded to the 300 block of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that sometime around Wednesday, August 28, 2013, she observed that her coin collection along with various pieces of jewelry was missing. She initially assumed she misplaced the items in the residence. The victim later learned that her neighbors had been the victims of a burglary and upon checking her residence further, she now believes her home was burglarized as well. The stolen property was valued at approximately $20,000. There were no signs of forced entry to the residence.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Sunday, September 15, 2013, at 8:46 p.m., Special Officer Russell Moller responded to the 700 block of Cambridge Road, Lanoka Harbor, for criminal mischief. The victim reported that sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 10: a.m. on September 15, 2013, an unknown person or persons damaged his vehicle’s driver-side mirror. The damage is estimated at $350.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Monday, September 16, 2013, at 10:40 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson conducted a traffic stop on Arlington Avenue in Forked River. The driver, 40-year-old James W. Carmer of Waretown was arrested on an outstanding Ocean Township (Waretown) warrant in the amount of $250. James W. Carmer was transported to headquarters and turned over to the Ocean Township Police Department.
  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Monday, September 16, 2013, at 11:20 a.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to the 600 block of Chelsea Street in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported that sometime during the overnight hours of Sunday, September 15th into Monday, September 16, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered his unsecured vehicle and stole loose change.
  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Monday, September 16, 2013, at 8:21 p.m., Officers Andrew Slota and Robert Duffy responded to the Wawa at 701 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a shoplifting suspect. The accused, 39-year-old Richard Stockum of Hemlock Drive in Lanoka Harbor was arrested for concealing a low value item of on his person. He was transported to headquarters, processed, and later released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting. He was also issued a separate traffic summons for driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Unusual Incident (Narcotics Use) – On Tuesday September 3, 2013, at 8:30 p.m., Officer Androcy responded to the 700 block area of Sinclair Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for the report of an adult white male running in the street, yelling and removing his clothes. The male, later identified as 34 year-old Thomas Steadman was found inside his vehicle on Sinclair Avenue. Thomas Steadman admitted to abusing methadone and synthetic cocaine.  Thomas Steadman was transported to the hospital for treatment.  No drugs or paraphernalia were found.  This matter is pending further investigation by Lacey Police along with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Shoplifting & Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 10:47 a.m., the Lacey Township Police Department received a call from an eyewitness who observed a white male who came running out of the Staples (Office Supply Store), 300 Route 9 North in Forked River. The witness observed the subject enter into a beige minivan with NJ registration B46DHX, owned and operated by 83-year-old Benny Pezzino of Seaside Heights, NJ.

The witness believed that this subject may have done something wrong and decided to follow the vehicle as it drove away from the store. The Lacey Police Dispatcher contacted Staples confirming that the subject stole a Samsung Tablet and ran out of the store. With the assistance of the witness, officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle just before the Garden State Parkway entrance.

The male subject who ran was identified as 39-year-old Edward Willette of Toms River. He had separate warrants for his arrest from other jurisdictions totaling $1,500 bail.  Investigation revealed that E. Willette not only stole the Samsung Tablet from Staples valued at $588, but also stole a Sylvania Netbook valued at $99 and a carton of L&M cigarettes valued at $68.00 from the CVS Pharmacy, 700 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor.  E. Willette was charged with 2 counts of shoplifting, possession of an antishoplifting device, and possession of 50 grams or less of Marijuana.  E. Willette was transported to Ocean County Jail with an additional $1,000 bail.

Warrant Arrests and Possession of CDS (Arrest) – On Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at 1:37 a.m. Sgt. Paul Sullivan observed four adult subjects in Bud Mezera Park, 1400 Lakeside Drive South, Forked River. After identifying the subjects, 2 warrants were discovered for 21-year-old David Rivera of Seaside Heights; one out of Cherry Hill with a bail of $775, and the other out of Stafford Township with bail set at $750. After his arrest, Officers located five wax folds containing heroin in his pocket. David Rivera was charged with possession of CDS (Heroin) with bail set at $10,000. David Rivera was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

A $500 warrant out of Barnegat Township was also discovered for 24 year-old Thomas Staunton of Forked River.  Barnegat Township authorized Thomas to be released on his own recognizance.

A complaint summons was prepared for all four subjects under Lacey Township Ordnance 261-34 for remaining in a township park after hours. The two additional adults were identified as 20-year-old, Krysta Badgette of Forked River, and 21-year-old, Sean Cox, also of Forked River.

Shoplifting & Unlawful Possession of Syringes (Arrest) – On Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at 8:03 p.m., Officers Kymberly Gudgeon and Robert Flynn responded to Lacey Liquors, 349 Route 9 North in Forked River for a report of a male wearing red shorts and a white shirt that had just stolen a bottle of liquor and ran out into the woods behind the 7-11 store near the business.  After viewing surveillance video the liquor bottle was determined to be a 750 ml bottle of Ciroc Red Berry Vodka worth $36.  Prior to the incident, Officer Flynn observed an adult male subject that this agency is familiar with in the area that fit the exact description of the suspect.  That subject was unable to be located at that time.

On Friday September 6, 2013, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Officer Kymberly Gudgeon responded to Burger King, 346 Route 9 North, where Officer Mckee was on scene handling another matter. Officer Gudgeon observed the male suspected of shoplifting inside the Burger King establishment. Officer Gudgeon confronted 20 year-old Joseph Ferenc of Forked River who was still wearing the same clothing described on the individual who stole the liquor bottle.  Joseph ultimately admitted to taking the liquor bottle and was placed under arrest. Joseph was also found to be in the possession of nine hypodermic syringes. He was charged with Shoplifting and possession of hypodermic syringes, and later released on a summons.

Shoplifting & Drug Charges (Arrest) – On Thursday, September 5, 2013, at 3:42 p.m., Officer Adam Ewart and Special Officer Jesse Urban responded to Wal-Mart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a shoplifter in custody. Officers identified the shoplifter as 24-year-old David Bond of Little Egg Harbor.  A Wal-Mart Loss Prevention Officer observed David remove two novelty key chains (valued at $7.36) from their display and place them into his pant pocket.  David was apprehended when he attempted to exit the store with the property in his pocket.

While retrieving the key chains from David’s pocket, Loss Prevention Officer Zach Sharp located a hypodermic syringe and a red plastic bottle cap. David Bond was later charged on a summons with Shoplifting, Possession of CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Hypodermic Syringe, and released.

Theft – On Friday September 6, 2013, Officer Adam Ewart responded to the 1000 block area of Peaksail Point in Lanoka Harbor. The complainant reported that sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 and 5:00 a.m. on Friday September 6, 2013, someone stole a surf board from the roof of their vehicle which held a total of four surf boards.  The surf board is orange and yellow in color and valued at $250 (unknown make and model).

Shoplifting Attempt/ Warrant (Arrest) –  On Friday, September 6, 2013, at 6:00 pm, Officer Adam Ewart and Special Officer Jesse Urban responded to Lacey Wal-Mart, 580 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor, NJ, for the report of two people possibly shoplifting.  Officers met with Tyasia M. Cruz of Seaside Heights and Daniel Smith of Toms River. Tyasia was observed removing the security tags and plastic cases off of several DVD cases and then place them back onto the shelf.  Officers discovered a $257.00 arrest warrant out of Neptune City for Tyasia who was placed under arrest and processed at Lacey Police Headquarters.  Officers are continuing this investigation.

Theft of a Bicycle – On Saturday, September 7, 2013, Special Officer Travis Horton was dispatched to the 1900 block area of Sweetwood Drive in Forked River for a report of a stolen bicycle.  The bicycle owner reported that someone stole their orange forked Mongoose Mountain Bike between September 6, 2013 at 11:00 p.m. and September 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.  The bicycle was left out along the side of the house; it was valued at $400.

Underage Consumption of Alcohol – On Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 12:33 a.m., Officer Charles May was on routine patrol when he observed two adult white males walking through a neighborhood. Officer May asked for identification and one of the subjects, 18 year-old, James Murphy, became agitated and extremely uncooperative that the police were harassing him. Officer Julie Barcalow arrived on scene, and James Murphy began cursing at the officers and told police that he did not have any outstanding warrants but wished to be arrested. James motioned his arms at the officers to put handcuffs on him and he began yelling “arrest me” repeatedly at the officers.  James then purposely blew his breath at Officer May’s facial area at which time he detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.  James said “arrest me, I was drinking beer.”  James was charged with Lacey Township Ordinance 130-14, Underage Consumption of Alcohol on a summons.  James Murphy was served his summons and began walking away while yelling out abusive vulgarities at the officers as he flicked his lit cigarette on the ground.  James was issued an additional summons for Lacey Township Ordinance 219-3 for littering.

Underage Consumption; Making Property and Alcohol Available to Minors – On Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 12:29 a.m., Sergeant Paul Sullivan and Officer Kymberly Gudgeon responded to a residence on Bayberry Drive in Lanoka Harbor for the report of a loud party.  Upon the officers’ arrival, someone yelled out “Cops” at which point partygoers began hopping over fences to get away.  19-year-old Justin Devlin of Forked River was charged with Lacey Township Ordinance 130-14 for Underage Consumption of Alcohol. The homeowner, 52-year-old Peter Tar, was charged with Making Property Available for Underage Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages.

Criminal Mischief to Multiple Motor Vehicles – On Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 4:47 a.m. this agency responded to the 700 block area of Princeton Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a report of criminal mischief to a vehicle.  Officers discovered the driver’s side view mirror had been broken. While at the scene Officers discovered numerous other vehicles with the same damages, some on surrounding streets and some in other areas of town.  The damaged vehicles were found on Princeton Avenue, Radcliff Avenue, Cambridge Avenue, Oxford Road, Tappan Street, and Wallace Avenue. At least eight vehicles were reported with similar damage as residents from other parts of Lacey Township continued to report similar damages to their vehicles. It was determined that these incidents took place during the early morning hours on September 7, 2013. The initial caller heard a vehicle drive by then heard a sound like a car window breaking. This is an ongoing Investigation.

Possession of CDS (Arrest) – On Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:28 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota arrested Joseph P. Sinopoli Jr. charging him with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS (Oxycodone). Officer A. Slota made contact with J. P. Sinopoli Jr. when a resident called police after seeing him lying on the ground, believing he had been struck by a vehicle.  J. P. Sinopoli Jr. was found disoriented and had a bicycle that had significant damage to it.  Joseph indicated to Officer Slota that he had not been struck by a vehicle but had fallen off his bike; he refused any and all medical care offered to him.  J. P. Sinopoli Jr.

DUI Arrest; Possession of CDS and Paraphernalia (Arrest) – On Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 8:45 p.m., Officer George Resetar arrested 21-year-old Blake Patrovich of 1029 Orlando Drive in Forked River for DUI.  Blake Patrovich drove his vehicle onto the property at 1404 Bullard Avenue in Forked River through sections of fencing destroying an above ground pool. His vehicle then collided with the residence across the street at 1322 Lee Way in Forked River where his vehicle came to rest.  Upon his arrest, Officer Resetar discovered marijuana and a marijuana smoking pipe in Blake Patrovich’s vehicle.  The vehicle was impounded. Blake was charged criminally with Possession of marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He also received summonses for the following motor vehicle violations: DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain a Lane.

Burglary and Theft from Motor Vehicle – On Monday, September 9, 2013, Officer Anderson responded to the 400 block area of Sinclair Avenue where he met with two complainants. They reported that someone entered their unlocked vehicles parked in the driveway sometime between 9:30 p.m. on September 8, 2013 and 7:00 a.m. on September 9, 2013. Loose change and a purse were taken from the vehicles. The purse was reported as a a Dolce & Gabbana replica; black and gray in color. Total approximate value of the stolen property is $136.

Criminal Mischief to Motor Vehicles Multiple cases and Locations – During the overnight hours between Sunday, September 8, 2013 and Monday, September 9, 2013, Lacey Township Patrol Officers responded to numerous calls of vehicles being damaged by cement blocks being thrown at them. All of the damaged vehicles were parked in the roadway. Damages consisted of broken windows, dented doors, trunks hoods and roofs. Some of the vehicles had their side view mirrors broken off.  This has received 27 reports of damaged vehicles with a majority of the vehicles having significant monetary damage.  The total value of the damage is yet to be determined but is well into the thousands of dollars. The criminal mischief occurred on the following roadways: Lake Barnegat Drive North, Center Street, Edgemere Avenue, Williams Avenue, Steuben Avenue, Tappan Street, Nantucket Road, Whitcomb Road, Elwood Street, Whitcomb Road, and Beverly Road in Forked River as well as Easy Street, Hardwood Drive, and Princeton Avenue in Lanoka Harbor.

During the Summer of 2013, between the dates of July 1st thru August 31st (62 day period), the Lacey Township Police Department responded to and handled 6,103 calls-for-service. Officers of the police department made 214 physical arrests of which 51 were drug arrests with 9 arrests for Distribution of CDS in Lacey Township and 32 arrests for DUI.

  • Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Mischief (Shed) – On Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 9:47 a.m., Officer Adam Ewart responded to the 600 block of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a burglary and theft. The victim reported that sometime between Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. and Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., an unknown person pried the lock off of her shed causing approximately $25 in damage. Two shovels valued at $25 each were stolen.
  • Drug Possession and Warrants (Arrest) – On Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 12:29 a.m., Officer Alan Abrecht observed three male subjects sleeping on the playground equipment at Bud Mezera Park on Lakeside Drive South in Forked River. One of the subjects, 20-year-old Jacob Barney of Spruce Street in Forked River, had three (3) outstanding warrants for his arrest. Two of the warrants were from the Lacey Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000 each, and the other warrant was from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department in the amount of $532.  Jacob Barney was arrested and found to be in possession of four hypodermic syringes, two glassine wax folds containing heroin, a small plastic bag containing cocaine, and a glass smoking device containing burnt marijuana. Jacob Barney was charged with Possession of CDS and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jacob Barney was processed at police headquarters then transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of his warrants and default of additional bail set at $10,000 for the CDS charges. In addition, Jacob Barney was issued a summons for being located in a township park after hours. The remaining two male subjects at the park, identified as 18-year-old Hector Cabellos, Route 9 N in Lanoka Harbor and 20 year-old Joseph Ferenc of Capstan Drive in Forked River, were each issued a summons for being located in a township park after hours. Hector Cabellos and Joseph Ferenc were released at the scene.
  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 6:02 p.m., Officer Robert Flynn was dispatched to the 900 block of Center Street for a report of female outside that was smoking marijuana.  Upon his arrival, Officer Flynn observed a 16-year-old juvenile female smoking marijuana from a bong just outside the residence. The items were seized and juvenile complaints were prepared charging the juvenile female with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Resisting Arrest, Obstructing the Administration of Law, and Harassment – On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 12:52 a.m., Officers Robert Flynn and John McKee responded to the 1700 block of Lakeside Drive South in reference to a dispute between the homeowner, identified as Pamela Patterson and a tow truck driver over a repossession of a vehicle.  Upon his arrival, Officer Flynn met with both parties and observed the vehicle already hooked up with the tow truck operator having taken possession of the vehicle. While investigating the incident, 41-year-old Pamela Patterson, Lakeside Dr South, Forked River, attempted to get the car keys back from the tow truck driver who was repossessing the vehicle. When she could not get the keys, she began to shove the tow truck driver in the presence of Officer Flynn. After several warnings to Pamela Patterson to stop, Officer Flynn intervened and informed Pamela Paterson she was under arrest. Pamela Patterson physically resisted arrest and continued in her attempt to assault the tow truck driver. Officer Flynn took Pamela Patterson into custody. She was transported to police headquarters. Pamela Patterson was processed and later released upon receiving criminal summonses for Resisting Arrest, Obstructing the Administration of Law, and Harassment (pushing and shoving the tow truck driver).
  • Burglary and Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 9:57 a.m., Officer John Cernek responded to the 700 block of Palm Beach Drive in Forked River for a criminal mischief report. The victim reported that sometime between Wednesday, August 14, 2013, and Monday, August 26, 2013, an unknown person(s) entered the residence and cut the copper water pipe on the top of the hot water heater. Water flooded and damaged the interior of the residence. There were no signs of forced entry; however, the homeowner believes entry might have been made via a rear window. Damage is estimated at several thousand dollars.
  • Internet Fraud Alert – On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 6:56 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow responded to the 400 block of Chestnut Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a fraud report. The resident reported that she received an unusual message on her computer stating that she had accessed child porn and her computer was going to be locked until she paid the fine by purchasing a green dot card and sending it for payment. The resident realized it was a scam or a virus and did not send any funds. There was a similar incident reported on August 16, 2013.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 3:54 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban conducted a traffic stop on Manchester Ave. The driver, 48-year-old David Rosenblatt of Radio Road in Little Egg Harbor, was arrested for an outstanding Asbury Park warrant in the amount of $220. He was transported to headquarters, posted full bail, and was released.
  • Municipal Ordinance Violation (formal charge) – On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 4:35 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban was patrolling Bud Mezzera Park, 1400 Lakeside Dr South, Forked River, when he observed adults standing on the toddler playground equipment. The equipment had specific visible signs stating that the equipment was for use by children only. The three adults, identified as 19-year-old Catherine Wollner of Kentwood Blvd in Bricktown, 22-year-old Paul J. Illingworth of Claire Road in Forked River, and 23-year-old Hector Ceballos, Route 9 N in Forked River, were all issued summonses charging them with misuse of park equipment. They were released at the scene.
  • Theft (Residence) – On Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 3:22 p.m., Officer John Cernek responded to the 1200 block of Taylor Lane in Forked River for a theft of an air conditioner unit from the yard. The residence is vacant and it is unknown exactly when the theft occurred. The total value of the theft is estimated at $4000.
  • Warrants (Arrest) – On Friday, August 30, 2013, at 9:35 a.m., Detective Lieutenant Christopher Cornelius, Detective Brian Flynn, and Officer Adam Ewart, responded to Southwinds Marina, 362 East Lacey Road, Forked River, to serve several warrants. Upon arrival, officers met with 36-year-old Dean Rado of Belmont Drive in West Milford, NJ, and placed him under arrest on several outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was a no-bail warrant from Morris County Sherriff’s Department; warrant number two (2) was a no-bail warrant from Somerset County Sheriff’s Department; warrant number three (3) was a Passaic County Sheriff’s Department warrant for child support in the amount of $51,050; warrant number four (4) was a Dumont Warrant for $1,000.00; and warrant number five (5) was a Wanaque Boro Warrant for $565. He was later turned over to the custody of Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.
  • Theft (Business) – On Friday, August 30, 2013, at 11:33 a.m., Officer Russell Moller responded to Latitude’s Restaurant, 361 East Lacey Rd, Forked River, for a theft report. The complainant reported that sometime between 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, and 7:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013, an unknown person(s) stole seven (7) flags valued at $150 each. Total theft is $1,050.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, August 30, 2013, at 7:43 p.m., Officer John McKee responded to 344 Route 9 N in Forked River for a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 38-year-old Christopher M. Bozarth of Route 9 in Waretown for two (2) outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued out of Northumberland County Probation Department in the State of Pennsylvania, with full extradition; and warrant number two (2) was a $383 Lacey Township Warrant. Christopher Bozarth posted bail on the Lacey Township Warrant. He was then transported to the Ocean County Correctional facility to await Northumberland County.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Friday, August 30, 2013, at 8:44 p.m., Officer Robert Flynn conducted a traffic stop on Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor. The driver, 50-year-old Cheryl L. Gebhardt, was arrested on an outstanding Oakhurst Warrant in the amount of $165. She was transported to headquarters, posted full bail, and was later released.
  • Criminal Mischief and Theft  from Businesses (Formal Arrests)  – On Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 2:12 a.m., this agency was contacted by Lacey Township Police Officer Dimitri Tsarnas, who was working as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) at a DUI Checkpoint detail in Brick, NJ, with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. During the checkpoint in Brick, officers confronted 21-year-old Daniel Disbro of Chestnut Street in Waretown and 20-year-old William McMinnimin of Route 9 in Waretown. Both subjects drove into the checkpoint and were in possession of several air conditioner condenser coils in their vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of both subjects for the theft and criminal mischief incidents that occurred previously in Lacey Township. Three of those incidents occurred on earlier that evening on Friday night, August 30, 2013. The locations and incidents are as follows:
    1. Incident #1 occurred at Ace Dewatering, 706 Old Shore Road, Forked River (Lacey Business Park) on Friday, August 30, 2013. During this incident, the subjects attempted to steal the air conditioner condenser coils and while doing caused more than $2,000 worth of damage. They were charged with Criminal Mischief.
    2. Incident #2 occurred at
      Joseph H. Roberts Inc, Old Shore Road, Forked River (Lacey Business Park) on Friday, August 30, 2013. The subjects were charged with theft for stealing air conditioner condenser coils valued at more than $500 and Criminal Mischief for causing more than $2,000 worth of damage.
    3. Incident #3 occurred at Plastics for Chemicals, 710 Old Shore Road, Forked River (Lacey Business Park) on Friday, August 30, 2013. The subjects were charged with Theft for stealing air conditioner condenser coils valued at more than $500 and Criminal Mischief for causing more than $2,000 in damage.
    4. Incident #4 occurred at the office of Tom Morrissey, CPA, 623 Lacey Road, Forked River. During this incident, the subjects damaged the air conditioners in unsuccessfully attempting to steal the coils. They were each charged with Criminal Mischief for causing more than $2,000 in damage.
    5. Incident #5 occurred at the Lacey Moose Lodge, 305 Route 9 North, Forked River, which occurred on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Both subjects were charged with Theft in an amount more than $500 and Criminal mischief for causing damage more than $2,000.
    6. Incident #5 occurred at Best Impressions Dental Office, 321 Lacey Road, Forked River, which occurred between Thursday, August 22, 2013 and Tuesday, August 27, 2013.  Both subjects were charged with Theft in an amount more than $500 and Criminal Mischief for causing more than $2,000 in damage.

Both of the above subjects were lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail each. Additional charges are pending against both subjects for providing false information to law enforcement officers.

  • DUI Arrest – On Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 2:09 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer conducted a traffic stop on Binnacle Road in Forked River. The driver, 55 year-old Nina Sherwood of Forked River was arrested for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Nina Sherwood was later released after receiving summonses for DUI, DUI Breath Test Refusal, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Exhibit Documents. The vehicle Nina Sherwood was operating was impounded as per John’s Law.
  • Underage Consumption of Alcohol (Arrest) – On Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 9:49 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota observed two subjects in front of the Lacey Library at 10 East Lacey Road in Forked River. Upon further investigation, Officer Slota observed a bottle of open alcohol. One of the subjects, identified as 20 year-old Joseph Ferenc of Capstan Drive in Forked River was charged with Underage Consumption of Alcohol.
  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, September 1, 2013, at 11:13 a.m., Special Officer Travis Horton conducted a traffic stop on Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River. The driver, identified as 26-year-old David P. Hynes of Mandarin Road in Brick, NJ, was arrested on an outstanding Brielle Borough warrant in the amount of $89. David Hynes was transported to headquarters, processed, and released after posting full bail.
  • Harassment (Offensive Touching) – On Sunday, September 1, 2013, at 12:03 p.m., Sergeant Ronald Buxton and Officers Frederick Anderson and Noah Schaffer, responded to Gille Park Soccer Field for a soccer referee who was assaulted. The investigation determined that a juvenile male soccer player was unhappy with the referee’s call and as a result shoved him. The referee later responded to headquarters and signed a complaint against the 13-year-old juvenile male from West Long Branch, NJ, for Harassment (Offensive Touching).
  • Warrant (Arrests) – On Monday, September 2, 2013, at 7:25 a.m., Detective Robert Surtees arrested 41-year-old Robert Despies of Lanoka Harbor outside of a Lacey Road business on two outstanding warrants. Warrant #1 was from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and was for $9,199.35. Warrant #2 was from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department and was for $17,912.13. Robert Despies was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility default of the bail.
