- Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, October 16, 2016, at 5:05 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow took a report of criminal mischief at the Lacey Pop Warner football field located in Clune Park, located at 740 Sandyhook Drive in Forked River. The complainant stated that between 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016, and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2016, an unknown person or persons knocked over a port-a-potty. Additionally, the pads were removed from the goal posts on the football field and thrown into the woods, and potted mums were tossed onto the field, damaging the flowers. The total damage is estimated at $200.00.
- Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, October 16, 2016, at 4:03 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the area of Warren Avenue and South Street in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a suspicious male subject. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 28-year-old Franklin R. Sheppard, of Manchester Avenue in Forked River, on three (3) outstanding warrants issued from the Atlantic City Municipal Court. Warrant number one (1) was issued in the amount of $200.00, and Warrant number two (2) was issued in the amount of $800.00. Warrant number three (3) was issued in the amount of $200.00. Franklin R. Sheppard was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after posting full bail on all three (3) warrants.
- Burglary and Theft (Bicycle) – On Sunday, October 16, 2016, at 2:42 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to police headquarters for a theft report. The victim reported that between Wednesday, October 12, 2016, and Sunday, October 16, 2016, his Trek Mountain Bicycle, Model 820 (dark green and silver in color) was stolen from a screened in porch in his backyard located on the 500 block of Devon Street in Forked River. The bicycle is valued at $400.00. The incident is under investigation.
- DUI Arrest – On Sunday, October 16, 2016, at 2:43 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a traffic stop on Lakeside Drive South near Sylvania Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 26-year-old Tyler F. Kennedy of Lakeside Drive South in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Tyler Kennedy was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Speeding. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 10:36 p.m., Officers Jason Lee and Julie Barcalow responded to the 500 block of Elwood Street in Forked River, for a report of a residential burglary. The victims stated that between 2:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on October 15, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered their residence and stole cash, jewelry, and other items valued at $39,000.00. There were no signs of forced entry to the residence. Lacey Police Detective Keith Pearce and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI responded. The incident is under investigation.
- Shoplifting – On Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 4:33 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to Payless Shoe Source, located in the Lacey Mall at 348 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. Investigation at the scene revealed that a male juvenile wearing dark, bulky clothing, entered the store and walked to the men’s shoe area. While the store’s employee was ringing up another customer, she observed the juvenile male run out of the store wearing a new pair of sneakers. When the employee exited the store, she observed the juvenile male traveling on a skate board heading north through the plaza towards Route 9. The sneakers were described as Champion hi-top sneakers red and black in color, size 10, which had a price of $39.99. The incident is under investigation.
- Theft from a Person – On Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 3:47 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the McDonald’s, located at 404 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a stolen purse. The victim reported that she sat in a booth in the northeast corner of the building and believed her purse was stolen from that area or while she was at the refreshment center. Her brown leather purse contained $250.00 in cash, and other miscellaneous items. The total theft is estimated at $330.00. The incident is under investigation.
- Burglary and Theft (Autos) – On Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 12:44 p.m., Officer John Cernek responded to Saltspray Drive in Forked River, for a report of a burglary and theft from two motor vehicles. Investigation at the scene revealed that between 11:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered the victim’s two unlocked vehicles which were parked in the driveway. The stolen items from the first vehicle included a hunting backpack, hunting license, Trex handheld GPS, Bushnell binoculars, a “gut” knife, and four lights, for a total value of $1,350.00. The stolen items from the second vehicle included a Kershaw pocket knife, an old silver watch with a brown face and metal band, and a bag of miscellaneous change, for a total value of $180.00. The incident is under investigation.
- Drug Arrest – On Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 12:33 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the Lacey Diner located at 530 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of an unconsiocus male lying on the front sidewalk. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 25-year-old Landon S. Ruutikainen of Grand Avenue in Toms River, NJ, for Possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Landon S. Ruutikainen was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Heroin and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe.
- DUI Arrest – On Friday, October 14, 2016, at 9:48 p.m., Sergeant Dimitri Tsarnas and Officer Michael Verwey were dispatched to South Street and Railroad Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a possible intoxicated driver with a flat tire. A short time later the vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 45-year-old Debra M. Downs of Thrush Court in Lanoka Harbor, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Debra Downs was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Friday, October 14, 2016, at 6:07 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the 1500 block of Arient Road in Forked River, for a report of a burglary and theft from a motor vehicle. Investigation at the scene revealed that between 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016, and 6:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle which was parked in the driveway and stole an engagement ring and wedding band, along with a sapphire ring, and a box of medication estimated at $4,025.00. The incident is under investigation.
- Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Thursday, October 13, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., Officer Elton Copes responded to police headquarters for a theft report. The victim reported that her wallet was stolen from her unlocked vehicle while it was parked in her driveway on the 600 block of Windsor Street in Forked River. The victim further reported that the theft occurred between Tuesday evening, October 11, 2016, and Wednesday morning, October 12, 2016. The stolen items included a gray 31 Brand wallet and its contents for a total value of $30.00. The victim was unaware that her wallet was stolen until she attempted to use her debit card and learned from the bank that it was frozen due to fraudulent activity. The incident is under investigation.
