  • MVA & DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 5:33 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the intersection of Lacey Road and Manchester Avenue in Forked River for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Investigation at the scene indicated that a vehicle was traveling south on Manchester Avenue and struck a vehicle that was stopped, pushing that vehicle into another stopped vehicle. Further investigation led to the arrest of 33-year-old Michael Meyer of Brightwood Drive in Forked River, NJ for DUI. Michael Meyer was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI and Reckless Driving. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Burglary & Theft – On Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 1:15 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to a Longwood Drive residence in the Barnegat Pines section of Forked River for a report of burglary. The victim reported that between 10:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered his home and stole $22,700 worth of his property. The property was reported to include seven gold religious chalice cups, each valued at $1,000; three blue ceramic chalice cups, each valued at $200; a gold cross with six green emerald stones, valued at $6,000; a 5” gold “Jesus” cross valued at $5,000; and a gold chalice “Ciborium” cup valued at $1,500. No signs of forced entry were located.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 10:46 p.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas was on patrol when he observed 28-year-old Glenn Jones Jr. of Stephanie Court in Forked River, NJ in the parking lot of Wawa, 444 Route 9 South in Forked River. Officer Tsarnas was aware that Glenn Jones Jr. had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Glenn Jones Jr. was placed under arrest on a Woodland Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $1,168 and was found to be in the possession of a hypodermic syringe. Glenn Jones Jr. was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was charged with Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 12:31 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel on Route 9 near Sunrise Boulevard. Officer Sarno conducted a motor vehicle stop on Sunrise Boulevard near the intersection of Hemlock Lane. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 30-year-old David Fazio of Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River for DUI. David Fazio was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle driven by David Fazio was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, & Obstructing (Arrest) – On Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 12:31 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno and Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas were in the performance of making an arrest of David Fazio for DUI (listed above), when a passenger in the vehicle, 29-year-old Nina Duvigneau of 1232 7th Avenue in Toms River, NJ entered the back of a patrol vehicle with David Fazio who was under arrest for DUI. Nina Duvigneau refused to get out of the police vehicle and had to be physically removed. Nina Duvigneau physically assaulted the officers and continued to resist after being informed that she was under arrest for obstructing. Nina Duvigneau purposely caused injury to Officer Anthony Sarno by forcefully gouging his right forearm with her fingernails. Nina Duvigneau was placed under arrest and transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged. Nina Duvigneau was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing the Administration of Law.

  • Fire – On Friday, June 10, 2016, at 9:30 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to a Brentwood Road residence in the Cranberry Hill section of the Township for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, the homeowner was actively extinguishing the fire with a garden hose. The Forked River Fire Department responded and ensured the fire was extinguished. Investigation at the scene revealed that the fire started in a garbage can outside the garage of the residence; the fire then spread, partially burning the exterior of garage. The initial investigation indicates the fire was a result of cigarette that was disposed of in the garbage can. A member of the Ocean County Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the scene to investigate.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, June 10, 2016, at 10:46 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey was on patrol when he observed a gray Honda Accord failing to maintain its lane of travel on Route 9 near Sunrise Boulevard. Officer Verwey conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle on Route 9 near the intersection of First Street. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 39-year-old Ian M. Fraser of Boulevard East in Weehawkin, NJ, for DUI. Ian Fraser was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle Ian Fraser was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • MVA – On Friday, June 10, 2016, at 9:09 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy along with several other officers responded to the area of Lacey Road near Newark Avenue for a report of a motor accident with injuries and damage to a utility pole. Investigation at the scene indicated that a 19-year-old female of Forked River, NJ, was making a left turn onto Lacey Road from J.T. Bagels located on the north side of Lacey Road. Upon pulling out into the roadway, she collided with a vehicle that was traveling west on Lacey Road causing that vehicle to strike a utility pole. Two of the occupants of the vehicle that struck the utility pole were transported to Community Medical Center via ambulance and another passenger of that vehicle was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center by helicopter as a result of a head injury. The 19-year-old female was also transported to Community Medical Center by ambulance for treatment. She was issued a summons for careless driving. That portion of Lacey Road was shut down for several hours while the utility pole was repaired.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 8:22 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 near Nautilus Boulevard as a result of the registered owner having an active arrest warrant. Officer Lee confirmed that the driver was the registered owner of the vehicle and arrested 47-year-old Anthony P. Talmo of Virgin Island Drive in Toms River, NJ on an outstanding Greenbrook Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500. Anthony Talmo was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Thursday, June 09, 2016, at 9:51 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. The Asset Protection Employee reported that he observed a female subject remove store merchandise from their displays and place them in her purse. The female then reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 18-year-old Miranda L. Krupa of Starboard Court in Bayville, NJ for Shoplifting $36.73 worth of merchandise. Miranda Krupa was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with Shoplifting.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 9:14 p.m., Officer Christopher Meyler responded to CVS, 700 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. The store manager reported that a female subject had entered the store and picked up a prescription from the pharmacy which was placed in a white plastic CVS shopping bag. The female subject then began browsing throughout the store and was reportedly seen putting store merchandise into the plastic shopping bag. The female then reportedly left the store without paying for the merchandise. The female was gone prior to the arrival of Officer Meyler. Officer Meyler conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of 44-year-old Tochitta D. Boone of Maple Street in Waretown, NJ, for shoplifting. Tochita Boone responded to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with Shoplifting.

  • Warrant Arrests – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 11:27 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to a Hazelton Avenue residence for a report of a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old Alyssa M. Everett of 1528 Arient Road in Forked River, NJ, on two outstanding Trenton Municipal Court warrants in the total bail amount of $2,500. Alyssa Everett was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and released on her own recognizance by the authority of the Trenton Municipal Court Clerk. Michael Araneo 2nd was later arrested at Lacey Township Police Headquarters on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500. Michael Araneo 2nd was processed and released after posting bail.

  • Criminal Mischief (Township Property) – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 3:30 p.m., Officer Darrel Nick responded to Clune Park, 740 Sandyhook Drive in the Forked River Beach section of the township, for a report of Criminal Mischief. A Lacey Little League coach reported that upon arriving at the baseball field, he observed two large holes in the interior cement wall of a dugout. The coach reported that the damage is believed to have occurred between 10:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016 and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. The damage is estimated at $200.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., Special Officer Stephen DeRosa was on patrol when he observed a driver operating her vehicle while using a cell phone. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 23-year-old Michel Ramirez of Cedarhurst Road in Brick, NJ, on an outstanding Freehold Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $250. Michel Ramirez was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and released after posting bail.
