- Fraud (Alert) – On Friday, January 30, 2015, at 6:33 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to a Shepard Avenue address in Forked River in reference to a report of fraud. The victim reported that she received a phone call at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, from someone who identified himself as working for the “Prosecutors of the IRS.” The caller informed her that she owed taxes from the years 2000-2014 and needed to make payments. The caller advised her of different amounts of money that she owed and told her to purchase prepaid VISA Green DOT cards. The victim purchased approximately $10,658 worth of the VISA Green DOT cards and provided the card numbers and security codes over the phone at different times over a three day period. The victim reported that she spoke with several different people who alleged to be from the “Prosecutors of the IRS” and they were convincing because they had her and her husband’s personal information when they spoke with her.

Drug Possession, Warrant Arrest, and Hindering Apprehension (Arrest) – On Friday, January 30, 2015, at 11:15 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Sylvania Place near Olds Street in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver identified as 39-year-old Bobbiejo Cummings of Leeward Avenue in Beachwood, NJ for Hindering Her Own Apprehension by Providing a False Name in an attempt to conceal five outstanding warrants for her arrest. Warrant numbers one through three were all issued by the Toms River Township Municipal Court in the amount of $350 each. Warrants number four and five were both issued by the Little Egg Harbor Township Municipal Court and were in the amount of $550 each. Further investigation led to the arrest of the vehicle passenger, identified as 26-year-old Oscar hardy of Carteret Avenue in Seaside Heights, NJ, for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were both transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and processed. Oscar Hardy was charged on a criminal summons with Possession of Marijuana. Bobbiejo Cummings was charged on a criminal warrant with Hindering Apprehension with bail set in the amount of $5,000. Bobbiejo Cummings was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail. She was also issued motor vehicle summonses for Maintenance of Lamps, Driving While Suspended, and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle.

Robbery/Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Friday, January 30, 2015, at 6:55 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Patrick Watkins responded to Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for an adult male shoplifter that fled the store in a vehicle after assaulting an employee. A description of the accused and the vehicle, along with a license plate, was provided. The investigation revealed that the accused stole property valued at $111.47 including but not limited to a portable hard drive. The accused was identified as 32-year-old Richard Witzig of Windward Drive in Barnegat, NJ. He was charged on a warrant with Robbery with bail set in the amount of $125,000. The warrant was later served by the Barnegat Township Police Department. Richard Witzig was processed by the Lacey Township Police and then lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, February 1, 2015, at 9:50 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a traffic stop on Lake Barnegat Drive near Lakeside Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 26-year-old Alan Hill of Taylor Lane in Forked River on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was issued by the Lacey Township Municipal Court in the amount of $750. Alan Hill was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 10:34 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno was on patrol in the area of William Street in Forked River when he observed 28-year-old Dillon Dittenhofer of William Street in Forked River. Officer Sarno was aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Officer Sarno placed Dillon Dittenhofer under arrest on an outstanding Seaside Heights Municipal Court warrant. He was transported to police headquarters and processed and then released on his own recognizance by the Seaside Heights Municipal Court Clerk.

Theft from a Vehicle – On Friday, January 30, 2015, at 10:15 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to a residence on Sinclair Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim reported that during the overnight hours of January 30, 2015, an unknown person or persons entered through the unlocked driver’s side door of his vehicle as it was parked in the driveway. The victim reported that a $10 lottery ticket and $2 in quarters were stolen.

Theft from a Vehicle – On Friday, January 30, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., Officers Christopher Meyler and Darrell Nick responded to the 900 block of Seagull Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The complainant stated that between 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015, and 7:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of his residence and stole his wallet. The wallet consisted of cash, credit cards, and miscellaneous items, with a total value of $62. Neighbors reportedly observed a male subject dressed in dark clothing and a dark hat walking around the area during the time of theft.

Theft from a Vehicle – On Friday, January 30, 2015, at 5:30 a.m., Officer Michael Eden responded to the 700 block of Sinclair Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The complainant reported that during the overnight hours, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway and stole approximately $2 in change. Neighbors reportedly observed a male subject dressed in dark clothing, and a dark hat walking around the area at the time of the theft.

DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, January 30, 2015, at 2:09 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe observed a speeding vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 North near Sixth Street in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 20-year-old Joaquim Narcisco of 3 Hilltop Court in Lanoka Harbor for DUI. He was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters, processed, and charged on traffic summonses with Underage DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Failure to Exhibit an Insurance Card. The vehicle Joaquim Narcisco was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

Burglary and Theft (Business) – On Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 3:33 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the 500 block of Route 9 South in Forked River for a theft in progress. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 54-year-old Theodore Diebold of Route 9 South in Forked River for unlawfully entering a building and attempting to steal a commercial sized snow blower valued at $13,000. Theodore Diebold was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged on a criminal warrant with Burglary and Theft. Bail was set in the amount of $25,000. Theodore Diebold was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

Theft – On Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 2:22 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick and Officer Christopher Meyler responded to the Wells Fargo bank in reference to a theft. The service manager reported that a male subject entered the bank requesting to exchange smaller and larger denominations of U.S. currency. The service manager reported that several of the exchanges occurred before the subject indicated that he was shorted money by the teller. The subject then counted the money and returned approximately $400 less to the teller which was discovered after the suspect left the building. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 50-years-old, 5’10” tall, bald, and nicely dressed. The service manager reported that the Wells Fargo Bank in Toms River had a similar incident.

Theft from a Business – On Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 10:35 a.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the 7-Eleven store located at 926 Lacey Road in Forked River for a theft report. The complainant reported that $3,540 in lottery tickets and $2,712 in cash had been stolen from the store. The theft is reported to have occurred between December 25, 2014 and January 7, 2015. The name of a suspect has been provided, and the incident is currently under investigation.

Shoplifting & Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 4:12 p.m., Officers Frederick Anderson and Kymberly Gudgeon responded to Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for an adult male shoplifter in custody. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 21-year-old Daniel Ferreira of Main Street, Building 3-25 in Toms River for shoplifting merchandise valued at $46.88. In addition, Daniel Ferreira was found to be in possession of Marijuana. He was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters, processed, and charged on a criminal summons with Shoplifting and Possession of Marijuana.
